They have a friendly bar staff, a competitive craft beer list, and the tastiest drink-dressed-up-like-a-milkshake, in their version of the Bushwacker."

"Martin's BBQ, 12South by Peck & Company. Martins has long been at the top of the best BBQ in town debate. In Nashville, pig is king, and nobody smokes one better than Martins. You'll likely see a line out the door, but it’s well worth the wait. What you won’t see is a freezer or a microwave, because they cook everything fresh. "Imogene + Willie, 12South by Peck & Company. Imogene + Willie has quickly become a Nashville staple. The Kentucky couple left their family’s denim factory and started their Nashville business in 2009. Named for their grandparents, you will find their flagship brick and mortar store in a refurbished gas station in the heart of 12South and it’s worth popping in. The beautiful storefront carries souvenirs, quality denim, hip clothes and a touching story. "Mafiaoza's, 12South by Peck & Company. One of the original mainstays of 12South, Mafiaoza's has been serving up some of the best slices in town for more than 10 years. Their New York style pizzas are a guaranteed family favorite and late night answer to prayer. Tuesdays are two for one on pizza slices and draft beer and draws a healthy crowd. "Eighth and Roast, 8Th Avenue South by GS&F. Eighth and Roast is one of the few local, non-pretentious coffee shops in town, owned and operated by a local married couple. It’s a small space, but they have a ton of seating. They roast their own beans and have about a half dozen roasts. Even without all that, the coffee just tastes great. They have the best iced coffee in town."

"The Smiling Elephant, 8Th Avenue South by GS&F. If you want amazing Thai food in a no-fuss environment, this is your spot. The Smiling Elephant is a local favorite that’s been around for years and never disappoints. If dining in, look for the small handwritten notes around the restaurant. If you’re in a hurry, their carryout service is always fast and hits the spot."

"Arnold's Country Kitchen, 8Th Avenue South by GS&F. More than just a meat-and-three, Arnold’s is a perfect example of Nashville’s charm, warmth and great taste. Opened in 1982 by Jack and Rose Arnold, the menu consists of simple comfort foods made from recipes passed down through generations. Expect a line out the door and enjoy the wait—it’s worth it. Belly up to the bar for handcrafted cocktails (we recommend the Manhattan) and an eclectic beer and wine list, then grab a seat and enjoy the show. Oh, and the food is amazing. "Dunn Brother's Coffee, Downtown North Nashville by FoxFuel Creative. You can always count on Dunn Brothers for a quick bite and a warm cup of coffee. This little cafe is hearty, cozy, and reliable. All of the coffee here is roasted in house and they always seem to have what you’re looking for. "The Arcade, Downtown North Nashville by FoxFuel Creative. Delicately tucked between 4th and 5th ave is the one and only Nashville Arcade. Built in 1902, this historic spot was Nashville’s first covered shopping center. Today it’s home to an eclectic group of shops, restaurants and galleries humming with the buzz of downtown Nashville. "The Crying Wolf, East Nashville by Perky Bros. Even moodier inside than its name implies, Crying Wolf is a sweet spot for night timing. Warm woods and cool cocktails liven up the vibe while the burgers and animal tots can sooth even the most vicious hunger pangs. Ample patio space beckons on warmer eves. Indoors, a photo booth spits out two-toned keepsakes for those willing to pay a few bills and say cheese. There, there, little Wolf. We love you—and everything you do."

"Barista Parlor East, East Nashville by Perky Bros. East is the OG of Nashville’s Barista Parlors. Go for the coffee, leave with it and the breakfast in your eternal waking daydreams. Think Bourbon-Vanilla Lattes and exotic espresso. Crisp yet fluffy, to-die-for biscuits piled high with egg, sausage, cheese and marmalade. Thousand-layer donuts and macaroons tease from behind glass. Plates overflow with cheddar eggs (perfectly peppered) the best bacon and duh, a biscuit. The mad scientists here are as well-rounded in eats as they are in coffee contraptions and preparation. Real records spin in the corner, amplified to fill the whole space. Don’t hit snooze. Just go."

"Sisters of Nature, East Nashville by Perky Bros. This shop got its humble start in a gutted 1954 camper that cruised around Nashville, show-and-telling its way to notoriety. Little by little owner Kimberly Parker outgrew her mother ship, eventually parking her wares permanently inside her current East Nash storefront, a shop-packed block where she’s always in good company. Speaking of good(s), most of hers are made in the USA. Go in expecting fine perfumes and beauty products alongside lovely threads, each collection inspired by the sea, desert, forest or field. If good smells and great stitches are what you seek, venture no further."

"Woodland Wine Merchant, East Nashville by Perky Bros. Self-described as a tidy, eclectic wine store, we couldn’t agree more. The folks at Woodland tend their environment well, making sure no rude stack of bottles or boxes comes between you and your juice. And they truly care about what pours into your chalice. Artisanal wines are proudly curated from around the world to surprise and satisfy even the most curious customers. Beer and spirits are also available, but great wine is what these delicacy hunters truly deliver. In Woodland we trust."

"No. 308, East Nashville by Perky Bros. Writers and booze have long been pals. This may be why a literary theme laces both the menu and the physical place that is 308. Book pages paper its bar and table tops beneath thick epoxy. Writer’s Block Shots spike the menu, Burroughs and Bukowski among them. For premium cocktails, small bites and atmosphere worth the bucks, 308 makes a perfect nightcap (open ‘til 3am) or happy-hour beginning. On beginnings, 308 was born when owner Alexis proposed to now husband Ben in hotel room No. 308 of Manhattan’s Ace Hotel. A refreshing twist indeed."

"Sawtooth Print Shop, East Nashville by Perky Bros. Sawtooth Print Shop is a letterpress and design studio, born out of Chris Cheney and Nieves Uhl's love of printmaking. The duo met at the infamous Hatch Show Print, and later became neighbors and business partners. Starting with a cabinet of type, thrown from a barn during a tornado, and a rescued antique printing press, they now print incredible work from posters to invitations and personal projects. You can stop by and pick up a print of your own or just get an inside look into the art of letterpress."

"Rosepepper Cantina, East Nashville by Perky Bros. This eclectic Cantina puts a delicious spin on traditional Mexican. Three salsa varieties greet you at the table while thick, creamy queso blanco complete with house-made flour tortilla chips (super, duper thick yet light and crisp) tempt all to have way more than one. The margaritas are hard to beat anywhere in town and while pricier than your average glass or pitcher, they’re worth every penny. Rosepepper's food sits several notches above your average Mexican spot in quality, yet remains similar in price. And we’d sit on their covered patio all day if we could. Go do it and we’ll live vicariously through you."

"Local Honey, East Nashville by Perky Bros. What began as a humble vintage clothing and accessory shop has evolved into an interesting hybrid: a hair salon + vintage and designer clothing shop. So, you can get your mop chopped and shop. Get yo hairs did and buy some fresh style for a night on the town. Or drown your blues by changing your hue and participating in some retail therapy. You get it."

"Five Points Pizza, East Nashville by Perky Bros. The Five Points area is chock-full of bars and restaurants but this namesake pizza shop holds its own as one of the best places to fill up. New York style slices, a signature pie complete with bacon, roasted tomatoes and house-made habanero cream sauce, the garlic knots and salads are all superb. The best part is a to-go slice bar, in an entirely separate area where those on the run can choose from rotating signature pies and classic favorites all the way into the wee hours—slices are sold until 1 or 3 a.m. errday."

"Dino's, East Nashville by Perky Bros. If East Nashville is the rebel of the city, Dino’s might as well be its leader. Even throughout a recent buyout and renovation, Dino’s refuses to gentrify (yet they did ban smoking inside). Still a dive, and still a place where, if you know the magic password you can buy a six pack for the road, Dino’s is more of a diner, complete with pie supplied by Lisa Donovan, one of the best pastry chefs in town. A simple beer selection and even simpler food menu guide most squarely to the burger and fries. For those who go against the grain, a grilled cheese or frito chili pie offer their comfort at the ready."

"Margot Café and Bar, East Nashville by Perky Bros. If you only have time for one meal in Nashville, make your reservation. Margot McCormick, the French Chef de cuisine responsible for the alchemy that is Margot, is usually found in the kitchen. And as with most great chefs, she’ll occasionally deliver a plate—or several—throughout brunch or dinner service. The menu changes daily with what’s fresh but some interpretations are ever-present during brunch: steak and eggs, a quiche or two and poached eggs. Dinner is spectacular. With some of the freshest seafood our city sees, she makes decadence using simple, rich ingredients. And don’t ask about dessert. Just order two."

"Bolton's Spicy Chicken & Fish, East Nashville by Perky Bros. A little 101: Hot chicken is fried, and the breading itself contains the seasonings and the heat. There’s nothing like it. And while several chains now serve it, Bolton’s is an original purveyor dating back for fifteen years. The East location is quite literally a chicken and fish shack with a to-go window and limited seating, so come as you are. A lesser mentioned delight of any hot fish or chicken experience is the mighty southern side dish. At Bolton’s there are about twelve to choose from, including mac and cheese, turnip greens, baked beans and potato salad."

"Bongo Java, East Nashville by Perky Bros. Bongo's mean cupsa brew all start with quality beans and how well they roast 'em. Pull up a chair in their East café (or in one of many other eateries around town who proudly serve Bongo beans) and if you're lucky, you can convince someone to tell you all about the magic of proper roasting and artful brewing. If you're luckier, you're in the East café with one of their bagel bombs in hand (bagel sandwiches, but they call 'em bombs). Plenty of fresh breakfast and lunch picks complement their many masterful brews, and it's all ready to help you rise and shine."

"Mitchell Delicatessen, East Nashville by Perky Bros. Crisp, white butcher paper will forever make you salivate once you’ve had a Mitchell-made sandwich. The Turkey, Avocado and Bacon, served warm with melty cheddar, delights like no other. Bahn-Mi and Caprese are two other must-do’s, but you can’t go wrong. A hungover person’s dream, you’ll find a no-fuss, hot breakfast bar with eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. There’s also a lunch salad bar where beyond-ordinary toppings take plates of roughage to new heights. Sprecher sodas and Hubert’s lemonades top off your meal almost as well as the crisp pickle that arrives tucked into the paper beside your sandwich. Almost."

"The Wild Cow, East Nashville by Perky Bros. A veggie and vegan dream. This is where you go for inventive, delicious meals made with care using whole ingredients. Recent daily specials included Yucca and Peach tacos and Stuffed avocado with spicy seitan, spanish rice, red salsa and cilantro-lime crema. Most soups, stocks and dressings are made in-house from scratch; most produce is locally grown and much is organic. A percentage of proceeds are donated to a charity of the month, every month. Mondays are beer and (veggie) burger nights. For guilt-free grazing, smoothies and high-gravity beer in one spot, this is your jam."

"5th & Taylor, Germantown by redpepper. We have a dinner dream: everyone gets mashed potatoes. Chef Daniel James Lindley has made it true with his family-style bowls served with a helping for every entree. His focus on simple American food proves you can achieve out-of-this-world flavor without ten exotic ingredients, his steaks, beer-chicken and beef tartare a testament to this philosophy. Their addictive coffee soda was born of such tinkering as were their rested and flash-chilled beverages. A coffee bean is a very complex source of energy and flavor, and simply put, they know how to respect and get the best out of those little guys. Best of all, they’re nice to humans, too. "Jamaicaway, Germantown by redpepper. Located in the Farmer’s Market, this modest, counter-serve joint makes some of the most distinctive, authentically inspired meals in the city. Owner Ouida Bradshaw and son Kamal Kalokoh have one goal: serving joy through food. From the coconut delight (v) to jerk chicken to curry goat, they put heaps of heart into every recipe. One day on a whim, Kamal tracked down Drake, who was in town to play a show, fed him, and landed a gig as his tour chef. Later he became Rihanna’s personal chef. Lucky for Nashville, we can sample Kamal’s cuisine any time—no tour required."

"Wilder, Germantown by redpepper. Some people have exceptional taste. This shop is for and by those people, brimming with neat goods you may never see anywhere else. Pottery. Textiles. Magazines and books. The owners are NYC-born and bred and they brought their discerning design sensibilities with them. In fact, they know most of the artists whose work they feature and sell. Pop in for afternoon and get to know Wilder—you’ll leave a little less tame."

He could’ve stopped there, but City House Chef Tandy Wilson is known, among other things, for his exquisite charcuterie—think paper-thin salami served with parmesan. To end each weekend right, starting at 5pm every Sunday, he goes off-menu for Sunday Supper: Everything’s family-style, no two weeks are the same. Drool over a smorgasbord of Italian ingredients like imported oils and freshly made pastas—think housemade smoked gouda + roasted tomato ravioli—all to-go and ready to whip up at home."

Located in the Werthan Factory building, this industrial-chic hotspot is high-end in look, but in experience, it’s everything welcoming and down-to-earth. Pull up a seat at a family-style table and get cozy with a Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy (it’s one of their many inventive cocktails, duh). Up for a bite? Their New American fare is inspired by Italian and Mediterranean dishes and peppered with seasonal flavor. 10/10. Would swipe right."

"First Tennessee Park (Sounds Stadium), Germantown by redpepper. For a good time, call 1-800-Sounds. No really. This ballpark was voted best minor league fan experience. Sure, you can grab a seat and be a classic fan. Or you could skip the peanuts and cracker jacks, pass go, and make a line drive to right field, where 4,000 square feet of fun awaits. The Band Box is an outdoor bar, restaurant, and game mecca (games at a game? So meta). Try your hand at corn hole or ping pong while your other hand tries a whiskey and coke icee. Or chomp on the Band Box Dog, stuffed with pimento cheese, potato chips, pickled onion, and pure joy. This is what a home run feels like."

"Czann's Brewing Co, Sobro by ST8MNT. Czann's, a portmanteau of a name, sounds like Cezanne the post-impressionist painter. Ken Rebman, is the one man machine behind all of the drinkable beers Czann's has to offer. Stay fresh with the Blonde or get hoppy with the IPA. Whatever your flavor is, Czann's will quench your thirst. The extensive knowledge the brewmaster shared with me solidifies the quality that I know I will inevitably consume. His ingredients are no secret and are displayed all along the taproom walls. The flight Czann's has to offer is one of perfected beer science. Go ahead and feel free and test my opinion. I know Ken will back me up.The taproom is Thursday through Sunday in the afternoons. Check out his Facebook or website for exact times. If you can't make it to the taproom, Czann's beers can be found on tap all around Nashville including BurgerUp, 12 South Taproom, The Filling Station, and Sportman’s Grille just to name a few."

Three thousand square feet, surrounded by 30 inches of concrete and the original vault door, has been renovated into two separate 1500 square feet studio spaces; ideal for photography and video shoots, audio rehearsals and recordings, a gallery opening…be creative! Come shoot in the most secure place in town."

"Johnny Cash Museum, Sobro by ST8MNT. The Johnny Cash Museum is quite literally the museum in black. The tour is dark lit, but the features are so bright and attractive. Cash's life is displayed eloquently through the small space, really allowing an emotional connection unlike any other museum I have experienced. The journey of Johnny Cash and June Carter is shared in such detail with interactive viewing platforms and constant video threads in multiple showcased rooms. You can even take a picture of the Man in Black himself!The museum is just off the downtown Broadway strip. As you walk in the door, there is a cafe with coffee and food available on the left and loads of Johnny Cash swag to the right. The insane custom chopper that sits in the store front window is not for sale. I checked."

"Ascend Amphitheater, Sobro by ST8MNT. Ascend Amphitheater is an open-air music venue that is located along the Cumberland River inside the Metro Riverfront Park. The Nashville high rises tower over the stage and emit an electric scene during the summer night shows. While catching a show,you'll have the chance to have your voice immortalized as crowd noise in vinyl. Be sure to fight every urge that comes over you to shout Freebird. That's very lame and only funny in your head.It's probably a destination venue for your favorite touring act and you don't even know it. Every show is recorded live-to-acetate for a live album release of the performance on Third Man's record label. It fights the good fight against digital music and constantly reminds you that your record player's not dead.It's gnarly loud, so if the band you're seeing get's heavy, you're probably gonna need some ear plugs. The 89-year-old you will thank you, at the same time trying to assimilate you because they're a cyborg from the future trying to destroy mankind."

"Plaza Artist Materials & Picture Framing, Sobro by ST8MNT. Plaza rules the Nashville area with its vast collection of supplies for all art professionals and hobbyists alike. Their warehouse space makes it possible for a custom framing section and for the occasional interest group to hold a class. As a designer, it is a great place to grab quality sketch books, pencils, and organizers. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable, willing to assist in any matter."

"Hatch Show Print, Sobro by ST8MNT. Hatch Show Print is internationally famous for its country music relief prints. They aren't biased to country music either. They've done some killer work for a king: Elvis! Hatch has made Nashville its home for over a century now and has remained a letterpress work horse, delivering all designs operated on their 9 beautifully crafted presses.The store can now be visited and toured 3 times a day for an hour. They also have a classroom to lay down some knowledge on how the process works and the rich history behind the Nashville staple."

"Country Music Hall of Fame, Sobro by ST8MNT. Country Music Hall of Fame is an ever-rotating exhibit of country music and all the memorabilia to go along with it. Hank Williams's Nudie suit is on display portraying the most stellar of all rhinestone cowboy attire. The Hall, holding all of the inductees, is exquisite in mimicking the WSM Grand Ole Opry broadcasting tower.If you are visiting Nashville and want your fill on the country music experience, stop by the Hall of Fame. They create everything from letterpress to public art to environmental art installations.Founded in 1997, they have been the imaginative force behind the larger-than-life letterpress origami art installation at Barista Parlor, Pinewood Social’s can wall, and the delightful Nashville public art project known as “Our Town”.They do really solid work. "Union Station Hotel, Sobro by ST8MNT. Upon first look, the Union Station Hotel looks like I'm about to hop on a train back to the Lou since the castellated structure's initial purpose was a railroad terminal back in the 1900's. As soon as you bust through the doors into the main lobby, your head is immediately attracted up toward the stained glass roof illuminating what used to be the main terminal. Off the main lobby, there are a few event spaces, a well equipped bar, and an award winning restaurant, Prime108.Our friend that showed us around, Kate, had a wealth of knowledge on the history of the building and the stories that came with it. If you stay in room 711 you'll be sharing the space with their resident ghost, Abigail, a friendly ghost only victim to the classic broken heart.This is no Budget Motel Inn Express! Make your stay a part of Nashville's history."

"Crema, Sobro by ST8MNT. Get the coffee soda... it will change your life. #RealTalkHere, you can purchase coffee and all the things that stand in the way between you and drinking said coffee. The logo is pretty cool and I'm betting that you can scoop up a shirt with the logo on it.This coffee shop is super cool, down-to-earth and focused on treating the producers of the fine coffees they serve ethically. They also make delicious beverages.Note: There is also a Crema location across the street in one of the stables at Pinewood Social."

"Bakersfield Tacos, Sobro by ST8MNT. Bakersfield Tacos is a got-to-stop Mexican street-food joint on the corner of Demonbreun just off the Broadway strip. The large windows and oversized bar make for a chill atmosphere. It's a great spot to dine-in with your honey or rip tequila shots and munch on chips 'n dip with your friends. The staff is extremely friendly, and the bartenders whip up a mean margarita in the most familiar mason jar."

"Hermitage Cafe, Sobro by ST8MNT. Hermitage Cafe is the OG of Nashville diners. Prepare to run into the modern hipster, businessman, woo-girl, and lonely cowboy. Sit down at the counter and feast on the classics prepared right in front of you. Known to fix Southern eats, the chicken fried steak is a must. The breakfast kills and the staff gets to know you with their uncanny sense of humor."

The list doesn't stop.The menu is expertly crafted, down to earth, robust and delicious. The mixed drinks are made by folks wearing suspenders and everything! SUSPENDERS I TELL YA!All joking aside, there are tons of fun things to do, drink and eat at this place and it's right on the river. "Zeitgeist Gallery, Wedgewood Houston by Platoon. Since 1994, Zeitgeist has played a significant role in the Nashville art scene. The gallery has served as a cultivation ground for new artists and remains a safe place for established artists to experiment and grow. In 2013, Zeitgeist moved from their location in Hillsboro Village to Wedgewood-Houston, a neighborhood that has served as a home to the creative studio community for a very long time. A beautifully simple interior allows for visitors to take in art with no distraction. The gallery also participates in the Arts & Music at Wedgewood/Houston: an art walk that takes place in the neighborhood on the first Saturday of every month."

Dating back to 1862, Fort Negley served as a confederate base/lookout point. Fixed atop a hill, the park yields several scenic views of downtown and surrounding areas. There are several picnic tables scattered about the walking paths that provide a convenient place to hang out on a nice day."

In addition to all the essential bakery items, Dozen offers an always-rotating variety of breakfast sandwiches, baguettes, and all-natural salads. Nashville’s Crema coffee is always on tap, both hot and iced. A peaceful place to start your morning or end your afternoon, they offer comfortable seating both indoor and outdoor. "David Lusk Gallery, Wedgewood Houston by Platoon. First founded in Memphis and later opening a second location in Nashville, David Lusk Gallery represents contemporary artists working in the Southeastern US and beyond. Lusk’s goals in starting the gallery were easy: “1. Have a good time representing a small crowd of talented artists, and 2. Expose clients well beyond mid-south borders to the artworks their artists create.” Once you take a stroll through their space, you can feel that they’ve done just that. Because new shows go up every five weeks, you can count on there always being something fresh."

However, if you’re looking for excellent service and a friendly conversation at a neighborhood bar, you’ve found your home. Hidden at the end of Houston Station, Bastion is a perfect spot for a cold drink after work or a cocktail late at night. Playing tribute to the neighborhood’s Civil War history, the word ‘bastion’ is self-defined as “a place or system in which something (such as an old fashioned idea) continues to survive.” When you’re there, ask about their kitchen!"
