Nestled by the Cumberland River, Pinewood Social is a chic spot that fuses scrumptious New American dishes, craft cocktails, and retro bowling.
"Pinewood is the EGOT of Nashville restaurants—it can do a little bit of everything. Part bowling alley, part summer pool hang, part cafe, and part bar, this downtown industrial-chic spot has all of your bases covered, including brunch. It’s located within Nashville’s historic trolley barns, and on any given weekend, you’ll find a mix of bachelorette parties, families with rowdy kids, groups of hungover friends, and couples on their third date. On their tables: hush puppies served with a dollop of pimento cheese, scrambled egg-stuffed sandwiches loaded with molasses onions and cheddar cheese, and a variety of vegetable-packed brunch bowls. And if you’re looking to avenge your pickleball loss last week, the bocce ball court out back awaits." - jackie gutierrez jones 2
"Think of Pinewood Social as the Swiss Army knife of Nashville’s restaurant scene—it’s useful to have in your back pocket for just about any occasion. Pseudo office for remote work and a cappuccino? Check. Casual brunch discussion with the book club followed by a round of bocce? Check. Bowling and snacks to celebrate the fifth anniversary of your 30th birthday? Check again. There are even two small pools on the patio that open up for lounging and boozy drinks from an Airstream during the summer. With all of that going on, you might forgive the food for taking a back seat to all the action. But it doesn’t. photo credit: Pinewood Social photo credit: Pinewood Social photo credit: Pinewood Social Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the rotating dishes on the menu are consistently interesting and solid. They could get away with typical bowling alley eats like pizza and chicken tenders, but instead, you’re getting things like artichoke and white bean hummus with calabrian garlic crunch and blackened chicken topped with candied jalapeños and swiss cheese. And there are similarly quality cocktails and coffee drinks (courtesy of a Crema Coffee mini outpost) to match. Even though the space is big, its location in the historic trolley barns near downtown means it gets quite crowded on weekends (especially during brunch). So keep that in mind if you’re planning on popping in without a reservation. Food Rundown Buttermilk Sticky Bun Big enough to share, this pillowy-soft bun is layered with a blanket of gooey caramel and chopped pecans for crunch. Related: sharing is for chumps. Pork Belly Egg And Cheese This sandwich comes on a toasty ciabatta bun loaded with scrambled eggs, pork belly, molasses onions, and cheddar cheese. This is the move when you’re hungover, or just a hangry breakfast person who’s been forced to wait for a respectable brunch hour to eat. photo credit: Pinewood Social Grain Bowls The salad and bowl options at Pinewood are legit. They’re hefty and filled with interesting textures, and the grain bowl is the best example. It’s got a mix of rice, mustard seeds, pickled onion, charred broccoli, blistered tomatoes, and an onion-almond crumble that’ll keep your palate guessing." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones
"Bowling — that’s what’s for dinner at Pinewood Social, nicely situated in Nash’s Historic Trolley Barns. If you can pry your child away from the lanes for a brief moment, they’ll surely find something to love on a special kids’ menu with cheeseburgers, buttered noodles, grilled cheese, and chicken fingers. For adults: crispy tots with paprika aioli, short rib mac-and-cheese, and a banana chocolate sundae — to share or not to share." - Ellen Fort, Jackie Gutierrez-Jones
"Oh, Good Lawd... This place literally has everything. Allow me to list a few for you, Vintage Bowling Lanes (reclaimed from a Bowl-A-Rama), Coffee Shop, Outdoor Patio/Hang Zone, Swimming Pool, Bocce Ball Court... The list doesn't stop. The menu is expertly crafted, down to earth, robust and delicious. The mixed drinks are made by folks wearing suspenders and everything! SUSPENDERS I TELL YA! All joking aside, there are tons of fun things to do, drink and eat at this place and it's right on the river. There is also revolving coffee can installation from printmaker Bryce McCloud's Isle of printing, housed next to the lanes. Note: Reservations are recommended but not required for some of the activities and a must for dinner... Do yourself a flavor and go." - ST8MNT
"Rolling Mill Hill’s Pinewood Social is a one-stop shop for food and entertainment both indoors and out, complete with a six-lane bowling alley, bocce ball court, large backyard patio, enticing dishes like short rib mac and cheese, and even two dipping pools to cool you down during the hottest Tennessee days. If you can’t find a seat poolside, the frozen cocktails and a scoop of ice cream should do the trick." - Kellie Walton, Eater Staff
