Step into Oromo Cafe, where artisanal lattes crafted with house-made nut milks and health-conscious pastries create a vibrant cafe experience in Lincoln Square.
"This is a veritable United Nations for coffee. Baristas combine beans from Africa and South and Central America and flavors from India, Turkey, Cuba, and Japan to create some of Chicago’s most unique coffee drinks, some spiked with superfoods to make them even more powerful. The kitchen serves an assortment of sandwiches, pastries, and gluten-free treats. There’s also a Bucktown location." - Eater Staff, Ashok Selvam
"A local favorite with a global perspective, Oromo is adored for its unusual and creative coffee creations. It seems apt that its cold submission isn’t a latte or frappe, but rather, a meet-cute of ice cream and caffeine that packs a real jolt. Try a Dirty Choco Chai, espresso and masala chai over two scoops of chocolate ice cream, or a cold brew float with a choice of chocolate or vanilla. Oromo operates a second location in Bucktown." - Naomi Waxman
"There's a few coffee shops in Lincoln Square—The Grind being a favorite—but the newest to the caffeine scene is Oromo Cafe. What makes them different is that they're nutty about milk, literally. They make a lineup of house-made nut milks, free of artificial sugars and blended with "superfoods". The proprietary milks, made daily, start with the raw base nut—pistachio, pecan, almond or hazelnut. After a good night's soak in filtered water, the nuts are blended, then meticulously strained before adding a touch of vanilla and raw organic coconut sugar. They're served straight or with added spices, herbs and fruits. Some interesting concoctions are made from this like the maple maca, pecan latte and an espresso flavored with pistachio milk and rose. Their pastries and cakes are also not to miss." - Knoed Creative
"Tired of almond milk? This is your place. This colorful little place gives the health-obsessed cafés of L.A. a serious run for their money when it comes to alternative creamers. Pistachios, pecans, hazelnuts, and coconuts are all soaked, pressed, blitzed, and strained for the perfect velvety, dairy-free latte. These nutty elixirs are spiked with all manner of adaptogens and superfoods (ashwagandha, moringa, maca, camu camu) for a supercharged, super healthy pick-me-up. The coconut Cubano—hot espresso poured over a teaspoon of coconut sugar—is the perfect marriage of syrupy sweetness and bitter heat. "
