It’s visually stunning, incredibly scored, psychologically scarring, and really focused on body horror (without giving too much away, there’s a whole lot of inter-species DNA swapping going on). The last 20 minutes will definitely test your sanity, and a whole lot of it might not make a ton of sense, so just keep things simple and pick up a few pies from my favorite pizza spot in LA, Hail Mary Pizza. I love the spicy Pep Pep, with chorizo and pepperoncinis, and the savory Lord Cheezus, but everything comes on a slightly funky sourdough crust, so you can rest easy, knowing there are no bad choices here. "The crust at Hail Mary’s is chewy and crunchy, yet remarkably soft. Its shape reminds us of Tony Shalhoub’s many heads in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams—a little deformed, sure, but in an endearing way. Our favorites here are the Pep Pep (with super spicy chorizo and pepperoncini) and the Peabody (topped with the right number of salty anchovies, olives, and cherry tomatoes). "If you’re not already a regular at Hail Mary Pizza, you’ll feel like one before you even order. Because within a few seconds of walking in, the chef will greet you, tell you what special pie he’s making, and probably launch into a story about his recent motorcycle trip to the coast. This place feels like the quintessential neighborhood pizza spot: The friendly chef, the massive chalkboard menu, the possibility that they’ll send you home with a loaf of sourdough at the end of the night. You can’t go wrong with any of the pies, but our favorites are the Lord Cheesus, with six kinds of cheese, and the chorizo, honey, and pepperoncini-covered Pep Pep." - brett keating

We highly recommend the margherita, the Abbot with Calabrian chilies, porchetta, olives, and mornay, and the spicy Pep Pep, with pork chorizo - but really, everything is good, thanks to their slightly funky sourdough crust. Every pizza has a bit of funk from the sourdough crust, which complements the toppings perfectly.
