A bustling gem, this cozy spot serves up exceptional sushi omakase and creative rolls, all while the friendly staff ensures a delightful culinary adventure.
"Brothers Sushi opened quietly in Woodland Hills in 2018 (in a former sushi spot that was also called Brothers Sushi), but has since become a go-to spot for all things raw fish. The menu has plenty of things for sushi novices and experts alike, all served in a bright, energetic space that feels like you’re in the heart of the city—not a somewhat sleepy stretch of Ventura Blvd. If it’s your first time, get the $150 sushi omakase. It comes with 10 premium cuts of fish, a few signature appetizers, a handroll, and dessert. On later visits, go for their chirashi that comes topped with over 15 types of seafood." - brant cox, sylvio martins
"This high-end sushi bar in Woodland Hills exemplifies dining in the Valley in the best way possible. Although the energy here is laid back and casual (you can almost guarantee there will be a table of small, loud children with their parents), the food coming out of the kitchen is absolutely top-notch. The chirashi is one of our favorites in the city, packed with creamy uni, sweet and succulent scallops, and fatty toro that has so much marbling, it almost feels like butter in your mouth. Combined, it’s a dish that resembles a 1953 Cadillac Eldorado, or this scene from Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. In other words, an instant classic. Not up for a trek to the Valley? Brother's Sushi has a second location in Santa Monica." - garrett snyder, brant cox, sylvio martins
"The Valley is no stranger to good sushi, and Brother’s is a fine addition to the thriving scene. Order a la carte or sit back and let chef Mark Okuda take care of the meal with an omakase. While the more creative menu, which offers some creative variations on classic nigiri plus the addition to seasonal ingredients that Okuda sources from local farmers markets, the $150 starter menu offers many of the same stellar sushi at a lower price point. Brothers Sushi has locations in Santa Monica and Culver City." - Matthew Kang
"The Encino sushi bar is serving a special $275 omakase for two on Valentine’s Day weekend only that includes a lobster with caviar appetizer, scallop and sauteed mushroom salad, toro sashimi, squash blossom tempura, steamed crab, chowder, five courses of premium sushi, and dessert. You can also add on sparkling sake. Pickup only." - brant cox
"Bypass the bevy of sushi restaurants on Ventura Boulevard and drive further west to this Woodland Hills gem for an omakase from chef-owner Mark Okuda. The $200 menu is worth the splurge and includes seasonal Japanese fish, dry-aged fish, and local produce. For those ordering a la carte, try the dry-aged toro or the uni which pair nicely with any of the restaurant’s high-end sakes and Champagnes." - Rebecca Roland, Eater Staff
