Dive into a stylish Chicago spot where wood-fired Argentinean-American dishes steal the show alongside delicious South American cocktails and stellar service.
"Chef John Manion pays tribute to asado, a traditional South American barbecue, at his West Loop restaurant. The dining room is set up to give diners a first-hand look at Argentinian-style cuts cooking over open flames on a custom-built hearth. Order the parrillada platter for a variety of different meats, including grilled beef short ribs, sweetbreads, bone marrow, morcilla, chorizo, bife angosto, and more." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff
"This Argentinian spot is fun and a little loud, with a live-fire grill putting out some delicious food in the open kitchen. Everything that grill touches is worth ordering. We like the steak, but don’t overlook the grilled oysters or sweetbreads, and breaking up the meat-fest by ordering plenty of sides is a good idea. El Che works for a group since everything is easy to share, but it’s great for date night, too. No matter why you’re here, it’s an easy place to have a good time. And in case you want to try grilling some stuff yourself, they sell meat and various other things in an online market." - sam faye, adrian kane, veda kilaru, nick allen
"Come to this Argentinian steakhouse in the West Loop if you like to party. It’s more casual than a stuffy white-tableclothed spot and has plenty of room at the bar to loosen up and be a little loud. And if you’re sitting at the kitchen counter, you’ll get a view of the staff constantly feeding the live-fire grill like it’s hungry for burnt wood. Everything that grill touches is worth ordering, like oysters that channel the flavor of sour cream and onion chips, smoky morcilla with tangy salsa mostasa, and, of course, the delicious steaks. They’re all served with a zesty chimichurri, and our favorite one to share (though we’re calling dibs on the last bite) is the 32 oz bone-in ribeye. " - adrian kane, john ringor
