"Musée des Confluences, Ainay Confluence. Lyon's latest museum addition (opened in 2015) is unmissable when arriving into the city from the south. It's a big modern space ship like venue at the tip of the 'Presqu'île' where the Saône and Rhône meet. It hosts a great natural history permanent exhibition and has very interesting and well done temporary ones. A few events are hosted here throughout the year, including the European Lab conference. There's an impressive viewing point at the top of the building where the cafe is located."

"Chez Augustin, Ainay Confluence. Every respectable french neighbourhood has to have its Fromagerie! In Ainay, Chez Augustin is our favourite place to get our regular cheese fix from. It’s a small and very local shop with an incredible smell as you walk in. Augustin has a small selection of only great quality cheeses, and we can assure you that this is the best place to get Raclette cheese (plain or smoked), Reblochon and the list can go on and on."

"Le Marché Gare, Ainay Confluence. This is a great low key concert hall set in the middle of what is now a big Confluence construction site. Most of the buildings around the hall have been demolished with big projects to rebuild and regenerate the area, so this old building stands out on it's own in the middle of all this. It makes it perfect for concerts and it has that retro-feel to it. Check out their website to see who's playing."

"Autour de l'image, Ainay Confluence. This little gem is hidden within an interior court of an old building in Ainay. They are really good at creating the right frame for the right art pieces and they take pride in doing so. On the other side of the ‘atelier’ is a gallery with exhibitions happening regularly."

"Brasserie Georges, Ainay Confluence. Brasserie Georges is the classic establishment in Lyon. It's been cut off slightly by the Perrache station, but it's still very popular with locals and tourists alike. The place is beautiful and massive, which means you can always find a place to eat here, even though sometimes you have to wait a bit. It's famous for it's Sauerkraut & Sausages dish as well as the shellfish platter. However you can find all kinds of Lyonnais dishes here, as well as their own beer of course!"
