Taste of Peru is your cozy BYOB spot for vibrant Peruvian dishes and live folk music, perfect for a relaxed dinner with a twist of South American flair.
"Taste of Peru opened in 1998, so if you also happen to have a bottle of wine stashed away from that year (we have no idea if that was a good year for wine) bring it to this Peruvian restaurant in Rogers Park. Their long menu has so many different choices and combos it can be hard to decide what to get. So start with their refreshing seafood ceviche with sweet potato and choclo, and make sure to order the lomo soltado. The cozy space only has a few tables, but it’s great for a casual dinner with friends." - josh barnett, adrian kane, john ringor
"Important events in 1998: Google launched, France finally won the World Cup, and Taste of Peru opened in Rogers Park. Their ceviche is a balanced combination of squid, shrimp, and corvinha, and comes with sweet potato and choclo that complements the tartness of the lime juice. We also like their arroz con mariscos ( a mountain of pillowy yellow rice and seafood) as well as their lomo saltado with savory skirt steak cooked with onions, tomatoes, and french fries. The cozy space is decorated with Peruvian artwork and only has a handful of tables, but it’s a great BYOB spot for a casual dinner with friends where you can share your favorite bottle of wine." - john ringor, veda kilaru
"If you aren't already familiar with Peruvian food, stop now and head to Taste of Peru. There's no better place to start. A true taste of the mix of South American, Asian, and African influences that make up the national cuisine of this large South American country, TOP serves a wide range of dishes beyond just ceviche." - Sidekick Video
"Some may remember 1998 as the year that Google came into existence, but equally important is that Taste of Peru opened in Rogers Park. Their ceviche is a loaded combination of squid, shrimp, and corvinha cooked in lime juice and complemented by sweet potato and choclo. We also like their arroz con mariscos (a mountain of pillowy yellow rice and seafood) as well as their lomo saltado with savory skirt steak, onions, tomatoes, and french fries. The space is decorated with Peruvian artwork and only has a few tables, but it’s a great BYOB spot for a casual dinner with friends." - John Ringor
