"We’re big fans of this sustainability-first spot, which is growing like crazy. The focus is on local farmers, proper sourcing, and environmental respect, which is also reflected in the hands-down delicious food. Besides the build-your-own salad bar, the bowl-centric dishes range from Mexican-inspired salads to basic cobbs—and in the true spirit of transparency, they reveal calorie content, too. Come lunchtime, the lines extend around the block."

I've been to several Sweetgreen locations, but the Carmine Street spot in the West Village stands out as the absolute best—thanks in large part to Brandon. He is consistently kind, helpful, and goes above and beyond to make sure every order is just right. It’s rare to find someone who takes so much pride in their job and goes out of their way to treat a customer well, but Brandon does this naturally. His attention to detail and warm attitude make every visit a great experience. Not to mention, the food here is always fresh and flavorful! If you’re stopping by, I highly recommend the Hot Honey Chicken bowl with sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts—it's perfection. Big thanks to Brandon for making this location a cut above the rest!

Google
One of the worst experiences I’ve had at a sweet green. The worker was in a personal conversation with someone in the back while serving me and asked me to repeat myself multiple times since she wasn’t listening. The chicken serving she put in the bow was just the left over scraps and didn’t even fill the scooper. The rice was under cooked and crunchy. I’d expect better service from a sweet green in such a popular area.

Google
I love this Sweetgreen, especially for its friendly and welcoming staff. Mariah is absolutely amazing, she goes above and beyond to ensure a great experience. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is perfect for a quick, healthy meal. Highly recommend this location!

Google
I’ve been buying salads at this location since it opened (about 8 years ago, I think?) and the people who worked there the first few years were so pleasant and lovely. In the past 3 years the service has become terrible the portions are anemic. It’s really sad. I used to eat here twice a week. My experience this week convinced me never to go back. The restaurant was practically empty and no one made themselves available to take my order and after a few minutes I just walked out. Customers are treated like they are bothering the staff with their existence. It’s unfortunate this place has gone so downhill.

Google
Staff was very friendly given my picky nature. I ordered the blackened chicken and rice. Spices were sharp and rice was perfect cooked carded the hot honey and it really popped.

Google
It’s fine. You can make the same salad at home for a fraction of the price, it’s kinda a rip off. What I like about this location is there is a small park where you can eat nearby and the staff is super nice.

Google
Maria is fantastic! Don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to not only order but eat my salad. Thank you Maria!

Paige Wanckel

Google
Maria went above and beyond and will be the reason I exclusively support this Sweetgreen location. 10 out of 10. Thank you Sweetgreen and thank you Maria!

Yelp
I ordered a custom salad from here. I like the freshness of the ingredients and the variety. Not particularly exciting food but healthy and consistent. This store is large and it was clean. I used their bathroom which was also clean. There was no line when I came on the weekend so u ordered and received my food quickly. The woman behind the counter looked like she was ending her shift though and wanted to leave really badly. She looked impatient as I was deciding on my base and was tapping her nails. I didn't realize that k needed to ask them to toss the ingredients so I ended up with a salad that looked really compartmentalized but it was fine.

Yelp
Ordered for Uber Eats delivery, 2 bowls (carmelized garlic steak and steakhouse chopped). Main complaint is the portion for the carmelized garlic steak looked about half of what's portrayed online, and of course the steakhouse chopped is primarily lettuce. Steak was good enough in both, but still got a few chunks of fat and gristle that I could not eat, making it even less of an edible portion. Very disappointed. Also, I never check the box to add utensils (less plastic use), but plastic utensils were included anyway. I'm home sick and ordered these 2 meals to satiate me for tonight and tomorrow morning. Due to the portions, my plan is foiled! Basic food experience and small portions will make this my first and last order from Sweetgarden.

Yelp
I ordered the buffalo chicken salad bowl on 12/9/24 and got THE WORST food poisoning of my life. Avoid this place like the plague

Nina D.

Yelp
Super delicious! Truly a great, healthy, and quick lunch meal. I decided to try one of their new hot honey chicken plates and was very pleasantly surprised! The chicken was flavorful though I wish I could taste the honey a little more. The sauce was PERFECTION and really complimented the whole bowl. They definitely don't go light on servings and make sure to stuff the bowl. I ordered through the app to-go and everything was ready right one time.

Yelp
Came today on 4th of July. The woman working was very good at her job helping with preordered meals. The 2 men were in over their heads. I ordered the miso salmon bowl. Instead of putting the bowl together and then ringing me up which would've taken a minute, the guy puts my bowl down behind the counter after making it then makes bowls for the 5 people behind me. Then after waiting all this time he proceeds to ring up people that were behind me in line, including 1 woman immediately after making her bowl (not sure why he didn't do that for me). I walked out at that point. Not sure who trained these guys. I come here a decent amount but don't plan to come back with other great bowl options in area.

Yelp
Delicious, surprisingly filling, carb-light and veggie-heavy! I always get the create-your-own salad which I recommend over their specialty salad/grain bowls. You can customize it however you like with their seasonal ingredients. It usually costs me about $16-$18 depending on how many premium toppings I add. The apple and mint leaves are my must-add toppings and they give a cool summer ambiance. The toppings to base ratio is well-balanced. For my base, I like a mix of romaine, spinach and quinoa. All ingredients are organic and fresh! There is a bowl for you no matter your dietary preference. Staff are super sweet. One offered to wrap my bowl with receipt paper (they didn't have tape haha) because I told her I was walking a long distance with it.

Lee M.

Yelp
I order from them for the veggies. Ordered double kale cabbage and for a few leaves of kale. Got the bbq chicken but disappointed the spicy honey dressing was just a boring honey mustard. Portions were tiny. I paid extra!

Graham S.

Yelp
This is a review of Sweetgreen as a service not the staff at this store, who are hard-working, efficientt, and friendly. I used to think the store was slow because I've placed an online order, received the "Your order is being prepared!" message and then had to wait upwards of 45 minutes after that to pick up my food. The helpful staff explained to me today that this is a lie and that the message is auto-generated in the app even if they are nowhere near making the food. This wastes time and prevents people from finding alternative meal options. Sweetgreen makes good food, but it is a scam of a business, and I could not recommend it to anyone who expects the food they order.

Moe M.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor guys and don't attend this particular sweetgreen. They are very rude from the Head coaches to the regular crew members. those warm greeting and smiles you receive at the door are followed by some disrespectful and offensive comments as soon as you leave. BTW the salads you guys may order are not cleaned properly I've witnessed it firsthand as an employee just letting you know .

Lazy B.

Yelp
the workers there are terrible don't be fooled by the fake greetings they'll literally say disrespectful and offensive remarks as soon as you leave i know because I've worked there. And the managers that are Latino/Latina favor their Hispanic workers more than the others they pick and choose who get in trouble. I've even witnessed the head coach (Rigo) say some offensive remarks about customers .

Yelp
I just want to praise the Black, female manager on duty at 839pm on Saturday May 4. She was so nice. I didn't tip her by mistake, but I'll be back.

Darya S.

Yelp
Now I get why NYU students are obsessed with bringing sweetgreen salads to class. I came here for one to-go, and Sam helped me. He was super funny and sweet! I wanted the Kale Caesar, but asked to substitute the parmesan, and he was happy to do so. He allowed me to include broccoli, onions, and beets instead at no extra cost. I also replaced the Caesar dressing with the sweetgreen hot sauce, and took some black and red pepper to go. All in all, it came out to be fewer calories, dairy-free, and healthier than what was originally on the menu, so I am thankful! The salad itself was fresh, filling, and delicious. I will definitely be back to try their other preset ones, but bet I'll be making substitutes, since they gladly allow you to! Yes, it's expensive and it's not as big as I expected, so I won't be going back regularly and it'll be my treat to myself every now and then. But I appreciate that this exists by school, the ordering process wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be, and that it's clean, quiet, and bright inside.

jacob b.

Yelp
Rude staff at this and many sweetgreen locations across the city. Generally unfriendly staff has had me take business elsewhere. So much attitude for asking for what I want. Just unacceptable because I don't feel welcome here.

Laura C.

Yelp
Quick and easy but the ordering process is a tiny bit more complicated then it needs to be. I built my own salad and was happy with the end result. It was big and filling and all of the ingredients were fresh and at peak flavor. The staff was nice but didn't really help to explain the process when i got stuck or wasn't sure how the build our own works (ie: how many ingredients are with it, etc...) The restaurant was fairly clean as well as the work stations for the employees. It's well lit which helps inform its healthy and environmentally conscious atmosphere.

Hannah M.

Yelp
Editing my previous review to give an extra star for good service after the manager reached out to apologize for the sparse protein servings in our last order. Appreciate the gesture and will be back for lunch in the near future.

Arlene W.

Yelp
I ordered a Sweetgreen salad for lunch pick-up through the app, to get some vegetables in after some heavy holiday feasting. This West Village Sweetgreen location was open with modified holiday hours. This is a clean, well-organized Sweetgreen location with shelves at the front for easy pick-up; they also have a board that lists where the ingredients are sourced from. I love their warm Harvest bowl, which has the perfect salty/sweet flavor profile with goat cheese, almonds, roasted sweet potatoes, and apples. The salad had a generous serving of tender, juicy chicken. The rest of the salad seemed to be smaller than I remembered -- maybe Sweetgreen locations are cutting back given inflation. I also requested light dressing, and unfortunately it was overdressed. I reached out to customer service about the portion size and dressing, and they were kind enough to compensate for the experience. A+ for Sweetgreen customer service.

Bill K.

Yelp
Apologies if I'm misspelling, but Jamika, who works at this location, is incredible. Tonight I saw her working the line all by herself, making three meals simultaneously while being super friendly and cool with everyone. If anyone from management reads this, this is someone you should value and promote.

J S.

Yelp
Cassie should get a reward for best customer service. I had an allergy and she right away came up to me and offered me fresh bottled water - brand new salad and check on if my salad was good! I have never been treated with such 5* service. I would give this establishment a 10 rating - All the employees in this establishment were happy employees and courteous!'

Chelsea A.

Yelp
I've tried sweetgreen once or twice before, so it was nice to stop in again and try something new. I can be pretty indecisive sometimes, so I went with the preset Buffalo Chicken salad bowl. I love how you get to see what goes into your salad, and how you get to control how much dressing they put. I probably asked for too much hot sauce because it was actually a tad spicy. Other than that, I really like how the flavors blended together in the combination of blackened chicken, blue cheese, Caesar dressing, and sweetgreen hot sauce. Prices are a bit steep, but I think it's worth it. Will definitely be back, as there are plenty sweetgreens scattered in Manhattan!

Nepotism S.

Yelp
This is one of the best sweet greens I've been to. It was my first time at this one and I surely will be back. Everything was delicious and the person making my salad was so kind and generous with their portions. I had been to others before and they were not as clean as this one.

Sam M.

Yelp
Always messes up my order and refuses to change it. Forgotten items multiple times or given me someone else's order. Unbelievable that I keep going

Paige S.

Yelp
Got almost finished with my salad and there was a huge bug at the bottom. Absolutely disgusting, will not be returning.

Dionne H.

Yelp
This was my first time at this location..it sort goes unnoticed since is on the quiet part of bleecker street near a small park. The wait was not very long although I arrived at noon. I decided to try something new which was the buffalo chicken warm. Since they were out of the pickled carrots + celery I got to substitute for two items..that was fine with me. I got quinoa and shredded carrots. I also got the blue cheese and hot sauce on the side. No bread. The servers were extremely patient with the client in front of me who was being a diva. Sorry not sorry. A special salad was created for her and then she disputed what was asked for. I honestly believed she was a sweet green employee from another location. ‍ oh well. I will be sure to come when I am in the area

Greg B.

Yelp
For the people trying to eat healthy this is the place to be. Lunch around 2 PM - still a big line of people getting the salads. We got a harvest Bowl at $12.25 + extra toppings for .50 each. There are some seating, so we were able to eat our lunch and not to take it out. The portions are huge (comes literally in the bowl). The service is great with multiple employees running around. For me personally it was a one time experience in NYC, where is the meat?

Timothy J.

Yelp
Wasn't impressed especially since there are two salads and not one utensil in my package!!! Very disappointed. Quinoa was just put on the meal in a clump. Best part was the delivery other than that I'm never patronizing this place again.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Hot Damn. I don't even like salad and this is the best salad I've had in a long time. Love how most of the ingredients are local and they tell you from where on a chalkboard in the shop. Very Portlandia. The miso ginger dressing is a must, as are the fresh shrimp, basmati rice and those fluffy pieces of wheat bread. After eating this for dinner, I woke up the next morning feeling so much more energized! The price is the biggest downside: you're paying $14 for your custom-made delicious salad, which is like eating a burger at Westville and leaving a tip. Totally ridiculous. Oy, this is New York, people.

Jessica D.

Yelp
This place is great for a quick, healthy, and yummy lunch. The space itself is spacious and clean. However, I find it quite expensive especially with the ingredients I prefer such as roasted brussels sprouts, local feta cheese, avocado, citrus shrimp which are all extras. And for my little small salad, it cost around $18. I really like the spicy cashew dressing though.

Angela H.

Yelp
My go-to lunch spot! I take the 10min walk here from my office as a welcome break from the workday, and as usual, sg never disappoints. I love a good location with quick employees who serve up appropriate topping portions!! The workers here definitely know what they're doing, in contrast to some other locations that don't mix salads well or provide any toppings. I always go with the Kale Caesar but have recently been trying to expand my palate. Their new seasonal bowl, the miso bowl, is absolutely delicious! I get it w no rice to cut out some carbs, and it's absolutely amazing. Definitely excited to try out some of their other seasonal options! The lunchtime lines here get insanely long however; definitley be sure to order ahead in the app!

Maddy C.

Yelp
something about salads from here are different, they are so good. price is expensive. $18 for protein and avo. service is good, they try.

Caroline K.

Yelp
I was very disappointed in my experience at sweetgreen today. I came in around 8:10 to get a salad and ordered my usual then paid but when I tried to grab a table from a nearby stack in order to sit down an employee all but shooed me out of the restaurant declaring "This section is closed. we're closing down the store" - while there was another woman at a table eating! This occurred a full 50 min before they were scheduled to close. My question for sweetgreen is, where are your patrons supposed to sit for the next hour? Disappointed to say the least.

Justine Z.

Yelp
I love sweetgreen so much. Yes it's fast casual (not saying it's fine dining or michelin quality) but for what it is, I give us 5 stars. shroomami is my favorite that I often get, but the fish taco, elote, and curry chickpea were also great. If I'm looking for healthy takeout that will make me feel good I always opt for sweetgreen.

Chase H.

Yelp
5 stars across the board! This is the best lunch experience. Rob, Cassie, and the rest of the Bleeker St. team rock! It's one of the more busy locations, but they run a tight ship and the lines move fast. Salads are always fresh, made and portioned perfectly, and the staff is so friendly I go out of my way to walk to this location than some others closer to my office. This place has become my cheers. Regardless of how many hundreds of visitors come through each day, I'm always greeted with a smile, the staff has my order by heart and I leave with a warm heart and full belly ;)

W E.

Yelp
Remind me to never come to this location again. The employees have horrible attitudes - I feel like I'm getting bullied every time I come.

Chelsea W.

Yelp
Ummmm, so yesterday I found a living LadyBug crawling in my salad. At first I didn't think nothin of it ... showed it to a group of employees standing around, they apologized and gave me a refund but today I feel a bit ill/sick and honestly I question the cleanliness of the raw vegetables that I have ingested yesterday. It's a no brainer that throughly cleaning salad is important but I tell you I will probably never eat here again because I simply can't trust eating dirty raw food.

B M.

Yelp
Misha served me twice this week and beyond just making a delicious salad, she was so kind and friendly. It was my first time ordering and she talked me through the salad process + gave me tips on how to make a fantastic green bowl. Thanks Misha.... I'll be back!

Fernando P.

Yelp
New protein at Sweet Green?! I was very disappointed to find a bug in my salad. I was super hungry and looking forward to a nice salad. But having a bug in my fork as I was about to take a bite was gross and a mood killer. Since I couldn't go back my lunch was over, but even if I could, my appetite was just gone at that point.

Lea R.

Yelp
First time to visit sweetgreens Went to sweetgreens around 10.45 AM, so very few people were there. Lot of different options for salads, you could even make your own. Quick serving and the staff was really nice.

Rosanna M.

Yelp
$16 dollars for a salad with at best half a scoop of chicken, and bad attitude. I don't understand how a salad with such basic ingredients and quick prep costs so much.

Alexia G.

Yelp
Sweet Green is so fresh, and tasty with every bite. They have such incredible dressings for their salads. I am not one to enjoy salads that I do not personally make myself. Sweet Green is the Mother Nature of Salads in NYC. Iced Tea is refreshing, and brewed perfectly.

Andrey K.

Yelp
Just ordered two Caesar salads (order number 36431931) for 24.77$ to go. When I opened the bowls at home I found a half of the portions inside or even less! I a regular costumer and I know how the salad should be look like! I understand that Coronavirus situation but come on guys if there is no manager in a restaurant during that hard times, you don't have to be an ass holes and you must appreciate the few customers who orders food from you.

Amber R.

Yelp
Summary: good place for fresh salads ... Will be back! - food: salads are delicious. I love the guacamole greens and the beet don't kale my vibe. I like that you can request light dressing so it's not too heavy (or medium or heavy dressing whatever you prefer) -Ambiance: cool for a quick sit down or bite to eat - nothing fancy or pretentious - location: convenient to cute shops in West village - service: staff is friendly enough for a transactional encounter -delivery: we ordered from door dash and the food wasn't mixed together which was disappointing.

John S.

Yelp
Online only ordering? Guys, I'm sitting here watch you make it, why force us to download the app to order?! Seriously stupid policy SG...half of your customers coming in are walking right back out.

Chas E.

Yelp
I'm beyond excited they now have ranch dressing (I'm southern & ranch runs through my blood). The staff here is so friendly even when they're insanely busy. This location is rarely out of ingredients like many other locations and extremely clean. Their falafel sucks but whatever.

Elaine H.

Yelp
I proudly left my last vegetarian meal to be sweetgreen, my all time favorite salad place; though at a different location (west village). Have tried many different options: Rad Thai is perfect for shrimp lovers with concerns on calorie intake; Umami bowl is great if you are starving and would prefer something healthy and fulfilling; Spicy Sabzi, on the other hand, is good for spicy veggie eaters. One of their biggest selling points is their seasonal specialties served during different point in the year. Definitely try them before a new season kicks in! Simple yet hearty, I guess that gave the explanation of popularity at sweetgreen.

Tom D.

Yelp
A return visit after an overpriced and underflavored initial visit wasn't a good idea. The rudeness and attitude of the staff had me regretting my decision. I'll never be back.

Lauren A.

Yelp
I've heard so much about sweetgreen and all the locations around the city and finally got to go since this one opened in my neighborhood !!! Everyone there was super friendly and helpful !!! The AVOCABO OMGGGGG --- its just like a cobb salad with avocado, egg, bacon, tomatoes made with kale and romaine. SO DELICIOUS. I also liked how they had "light medium or heavy" dressing options which made things easier. Also to Kathryn B.'s comment below... I absolutely HATE when restaurants do Cash Only, so I was actually happy it is credit card only. This restaurant is WITH THE CURRENT TIMES!!! No need for cash registers or the ability for people to rob you or your employees to steal money this is a SMART MOVE in my opinion... Anyway love sweetgreen and bring your credit card ! :) Can't wait to try another salad !!!

c b.

Yelp
Love Sweetgreens. This is NOT my favorite location. The line is always slow & the employees chatting it up. If there was another option close by, I would take this location off my list. PS: Just got my salad home and it is inedible. The rice is crunchy, the apples taste old & the kale is dry. This seems like a failure in management. This location IS off my list. (I will write a review next time I am at a food location to balance the rating out. This location deserves one star, but the company deserves better.)

John B.

Yelp
The good. Usual excellent fresh salads, doing what sweetgreen do so well as per usual. It's super close to me, no more trailing down to TriBeCa. The not so good. Doesn't take cash? Admirable and bold concept, not so much if you pop out without your cards and only have cash on you. It's not quite fitted out as industrially stylishly as say the Nomad or TriBeCa locations. All in all, usual superbness.

Alyssa H.

Yelp
I am so happy there is a Sweetgreen in this neighborhood. It is nice to be able to grab something healthy around here! West village is tempting me with all the yummy foods (pizza, cupcakes..)...but thank goodness Sweetgreen is here to save the day! Not only is it yummy but the staff is friendly and they will help you substitute different foods for others. Easy to order pick up on the app too :)
