Yelp
Absolutely adorable shop in Tribeca, tucked away on a side street. The display in the window had a bicycle, so my friend thought it was a bicycle shop, but luckily, she ventured inside and found a great little coffee stand as well as a beautiful store for leather goods and gifts.
She took me there for the coffee, but I wandered around for a bit to take on the surprisingly cavernous space inside. There is a winding staircase to a second floor--I didn't go up there, but would gladly do so the next time I'm here. The downstairs has displays of leather goods-briefcases, journals, travel kits... Lots of cool things. Pricey, but chic.
There is a focus on sustainability, and the Shinola journals have pages that are sustainably sourced from North America forests. They are smooth, and somewhat resemble moleskines (with a hefty price tag to match), but feel like great quality.
The coffee place is called The Smile, and brews great cups of coffee at your standard $4.75 for a latte (Regular coffee is a little over $2, which is still okay for artisan coffee). The server was friendly--she joked about the smaller space of the coffee place relative to the store, but agreed that it was a nice place to work and hang out.
I would love to come back here.
