Kitchen Co Ut is an exciting new Vietnamese eatery on the LES, boasting a diverse menu of authentic dishes like pho ga and broken rice plates, perfect for a casual bite or a lively meal with friends.
"If you have a sick friend, there is no better gift you could give them than the phở gà from Kitchen Cô Út in Chinatown. It’s packed with tender, dark meat chicken, and has a depth of flavor in the broth that’s hard to find elsewhere. While you're there making your friends' day, it only makes sense to sit down and order a bowl for yourself, too. The large space on Chrystie Street works for a quick solo lunch with a vietnamese iced coffee, and the lighting is nice and low enough for a casual dinner. We also really like the bún bò huế, a somewhat harder-to-find noodle soup that Kitchen Cô Út does exceptionally well. photo credit: David A. Lee photo credit: David A. Lee photo credit: David A. Lee Food Rundown Phở Gà Anyone who has ever hated on a chicken broth-based soup needs to come here and order the phở gà. That should take care of that. Bún Bò Huế This pork and beef-based noodle soup is a lot harder to find in Chinatown than phở. Kitchen Cô Út’s version is great. It’s funky from the shrimp paste, and full of lots of meat, and bouncy wheat noodles." - Willa Moore
"At this Vietnamese spot on the LES, both a beef and chicken phở are available. We prefer the latter, which comes with broth that tastes like it's been cooking for at least two days straight. You’ll get a pleasant sourness in the soup, and it’s filled with plenty of herbs, onions, and chubby boneless pieces of chicken. On your way out, grab some pre-packaged items like mung bean rice balls and pandan coconut jelly." - will hartman, neha talreja, bryan kim, willa moore, carlo mantuano
"This offshoot of a banh mi shop on Elizabeth Street operated by Cô Út Trang has an ambitious Vietnamese menu, and one of its best dishes is pho ga in the northern style, a plainish but delicious chicken version of pho that’s becoming more popular partly due to the high cost of beef. Special attention has been paid to the noodles, and a beef version is available, too." - Robert Sietsema

"Vietnamese sandwich shop Banh Mi Co Ut is plotting a second restaurant in Chinatown. The Chinatown shop known for its “overstuffed” and reasonably priced banh mi announced the second restaurant — called Kitchen Co Ut — in an Instagram post on Wednesday. It’s expected to open two blocks from the first restaurant, at 85 Chrystie Street, between Hester and Grand streets, in March." - Luke Fortney
