This cozy corner spot features a lively bar and an upstairs dining area serving inventive New American cuisine, perfect for a memorable date night.
"This tasting-menu-only, two-story Rittenhouse spot has a party scene at their first-floor bar and a more formal dining space upstairs. For $155 per person, you’ll probably eat some type of crudo with caviar, crispy sweetbreads with tender plantain, and a juicy New York strip that we’ve seen come with cabbage and oxtail. Unlike most New American places in the city that have a similar menu, though, each dish at Friday Saturday Sunday is so perfectly executed that you’ll only want every tartare, pasta, or steak cooked their way from now on. Plus, when your meal ends, you can just head downstairs to their lively bar, have a few cocktails, and keep the celebrations going. Reservations are released at 10am on the first of the month for the following month. Try that to book the tasting menu experience upstairs, or just claim you’re Rihanna's distant relative and hope for the best. FSS's downstairs bar is walk-in only, and it fills up around 5pm every day. Stop by for a drink and some snacks while you brainstorm an alternate celebrity to namedrop when Rihanna doesn’t land you a table." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"This two-story American spot in Rittenhouse has an incredible first-floor bar where you can order a la carte, and a tasting-menu only dining space upstairs with candles, velvet booths, and stained glass windows. It’s an atmosphere that’s somehow both relaxing and sophisticated, and no matter where you sit you’ll have an unforgettable meal. The eight-course menu is $165 per person, and you can expect things like perfectly executed beef tartare, charred octopus, crudo with caviar, and New York Strip with cinnamon-y yams. When your meal is over, head back downstairs to the bar, order a well-made cocktail, and keep the night going. Reservations are released at 10am on the first of the month for the following month. "The first floor of this local-favorite fine dining spot is just as well-known as the tasting menu upstairs. Paul MacDonald treats cocktails like a precise science at Friday Saturday Sunday, like the Orange Catholic, a compound of vodka, lemon, hibiscus, orange and prosecco, or the fan favorite Assassin’s Handbook, with cognac, Jamaican rum, habanero, mulled wine shrub and amaro." - Annemarie Dooling, Ernest Owens
"If you’re looking for a special occasion meal or the best cocktail in town, make your way to Friday Saturday Sunday. Upstairs, the James Beard Award-winning dining room serves a truly lovely tasting menu with dishes like a duck fat-soaked rice and sweetbread with mushrooms and plantains. Downstairs, though, is where the party happens. The Lover’s Bar is walk-in only, and the go-to spot for all kinds of cocktails, from a smoked eggplant spritz to a classic Negroni." - Maddy Sweitzer-Lamme
"Follow bartender Paul MacDonald on Instagram to see what he’s mixing up behind the Friday Saturday Sunday downstairs bar — now affectionately named the Lover’s Bar. He’s always got something new that’s seasonal, tasty, and photogenic. Come for the exciting menu additions (such as the Carousel, a cocktail experience created by MacDonald based on his Fibonacci drink series), but stay for the very special desserts from Amanda Rafalski (such as her truffle sundaes and ice cream sandwiches)." - Tierney Plumb, Ernest Owens
