Overall it is a delight to visit the store if you are interested in learning more about local arts and crafts."
151 C. del Cristo
Building · San Juan
"La Catedral, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. The San Juan Bautista Cathedral, was originally constructed out of wood in 1521. After being destroyed by a hurricane it was rebuilt in 1540 in a neoclassical style. Inside the cathedral you’ll find the tomb of legendary Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León, as well as a shrine to the first Puerto Rican and Caribbean- born layperson to be beatified."
San Felipe del Morro Castle
Castle · San Juan
"Castillo San Felipe del Morro, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. After more than 5 centuries, the “Castillo San Felipe del Morro” still stands strong. The colossal 18’ thick walls are impressively adorned with cannons, colonial artillery and architecture. In 1961, after enduring wars, pirate attacks and invasions, “El Morro” and its adjacent walls, were declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations. Today, thousands of tourists and locals visit El Morro. Entrance is only $5 for adults 16 and older, while being free for children."
La Cubanita
Bar · San Juan
"La Cubanita, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. Four years ago La Cubanita was a neighborhood market/dive bar. People in San Juan could buy detergent with a beer in hand. Today, La Cubanita has gone through a true metamorphosis. La Cubanita has truly captured the laid back whimsical feel of San Juan’s nightlife while maintaining the local old school market feel. Try their exceptional cocktails, which are made with fresh ingredients and homemade bitters."
La FactorĂa
Bar · San Juan
"La Factoria, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. If you are looking for a bar with great cocktails, a laid back “trashy-chic” atmosphere, keep your eyes open or you might miss it. On the corner of San Sebastian and San José St. a sign that says “Hijos de Borinquén” points to "La Factoria”. Cocktails are delicious and if you are hungry, a door next to the bar leads to “Vino”, another secluded bar with a great selection of wines and delicious food. A third door leads to another bar where live music is played. You can spend the evening there, jumping from bar to bar to bar"
La Taberna LĂşpulo

"La Taberna de Lúpulo, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. With 50 craft beers on tap and hundreds of beers from all over the world, including artisanal local brews, “Lúpulo” is the perfect place to start your night or your day. It is a comfortable space with high ceilings, big windows and a long wood bar. It is a popular hangout for locals as well as for tourists roaming the city streets. Brunch at Lúpulo is hardcore and delicious. They specialize in “hangover cure” drinks and dishes. Try their audacious Bloody Mary, topped with one egg, tomatoes, orange slices, celery slices, 3 olives and a small ham and cheese sandwich."
281 C. de San Sebastián
Building · San Juan
"El Callejón de la Perla, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. Authentic and loud are the words that best describe El Callejón de La Perla. Saturdays and Sundays around dusk is the best time to capitalize on all that "El Callejón de La Perla" has to offer. You never know who will be playing “Salsa” or dancing “Bomba”. What you can expect is the refreshing tropical breeze coming from the Atlantic Ocean and a beautiful sunset. Overall it feels like a community party where everyone is invited to have a good time dancing, or enjoying live bands playing “Salsa” music, eating typical food or drinking a cold beer."
CafĂ© ManolĂn Old San Juan
Puerto Rican restaurant · San Juan
"CafĂ© ManolĂn, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. For more than 70 years CafĂ© ManolĂn has been a local star where local food or “Comida Criolla” is concerned. Its old school “diner-esque” atmosphere is warm and welcoming. No pretentious dishes on its menu, just good old delicious and affordable Puerto Rican food. My favorite dish is “Bistec Encebollado”, or steak and onions with rice/ beans and tostones (fried green plantains). If you are in the mood for a real Puerto Rican place, CafĂ© ManolĂn is a must."
El Batey Bar
Bar · San Juan
"El Batey, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. If Old San Juan was a person, El Batey would be a scar on that person, not pretty but it has a story. El Batey is an old, rough, genuine, and a non pretentious kind of dive bar. You can spend hours drinking, playing pool and listening to a great selection of music from the juke box. The thousands of signatures and scribbles that completely fill its walls are testimony to this legendary bar."
Café Cuatro Sombras

"Café Cuatro Sombras, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. Cuatro Sombras offers the best Puerto Rican coffee. Their coffee comes from the Yauco mountains and is freshly ground in the coffee shop. With free wi-fi and a cozy atmosphere this place is a favorite of locals. In addition to great coffee they offer yummy sandwiches and toasts.Try pairing their delicious warm toast and guava butter with a cup of coffee."
Hotel El Convento
Hotel · San Juan
"El Convento, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. El Convento was originally built in 1651 as a small monastery adjacent to the San Juan Cathedral. In 1962, after many years of changes, demolitions and expansions it opened as a luxury hotel where famous stars and the Latin American elite stayed. Today, it remains as one of Old San Juan’s “bijoux” in that it retains the beauty of colonial architecture and interior design, while adopting the comforts and luxury of modern hotels. El Convento comes equipped with 5 stories, a classy internal courtyard, restaurants and a central location in the heart of Old San Juan."
Caficultura
Brunch restaurant · San Juan
"Caficultura, San Juan by Ana Jovane Serrano. Located in San Francisco street, Caficultura is a must visit. The restaurant is always buoyant with hungry tourist and locals alike. Its european classical style creates a cozy atmosphere that is inviting and relaxed. Brunch is fantastic, and also very popular. Make sure to get there early or bring a nice book to read while waiting. Each time I go, I treat myself with their Coconut French Toasts with pineapple marmalade and a strong cup of coffee. The service is very friendly and helpful."
