This hotel is a prime example of what happens when user experience is designed without real humans in mind. Their check-in process is entirely machine-operated, which means that when something goes wrong, the staff are completely unequipped to step in or offer meaningful support. In my case, the check-in kiosk charged me three times for resort fees and even tacked on an early check-in fee—despite the fact that I wasn’t allowed to check in early. When I flagged these issues and requested a refund (especially for the erroneous charges), I was met with indifference. No one took responsibility, and I received no resolution. To make matters worse, the hotel’s luggage storage is also machine-operated. When the machine was down, I was still charged to store my bags—even though it was their own tech failure that caused the issue. This hotel does not prioritize its guests. The staff are not trained to help when systems fail, and they will nickel-and-dime you for basic services. If you’re paying Times Square prices, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere that values actual people. They still owe me $300—and more than that, they owe their guests better.

Great location, vibe and rooms. The service and amount of room issues though is a joke. First off, hope you don’t plan on sleeping in after a late night because at 9am on the dot housekeeping will repeatedly bang on your door and force their way in (day after day), despite your repeated pleads not too. An earlier riser? No matter, hope you don’t need a light to start your day cause the one in the bathroom decides when it works, not you 😅 A bit warm fighting through a NYC summer? Need water or ice? Don’t stress there are water and ice stations on each floor, jokes they don’t work either. But no worries, you probably won’t need water once you get back to your room anyway, because you’ll be dead. Currently joining a few of my floor mates in propping our doors open to get aircon from the halls as while we were out our rooms were all heated to 28 degrees Celsius and won’t cool down. In summary, it’s better than pod… but at what cost? 🥴

I loved my stay at YOTEL Times Square! My room was clean, modern, and had an amazing view. The vibe of the hotel is fun and hip, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. It’s also conveniently located near everything perfect for exploring the city. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable stay in NYC!

We were off to a bad start as the front desk demanded over $300 in facility fees ($39.50 a night) from us. I’m not sure if this is the fault of the booking agent for not being transparent or the hotel for doing whatever they like but given the lack of facilities (other than WiFi) either way it’s just a shake down.||The room was on the 25th floor, it seems that some elevators are out of action as we waited in excess of 5 minutes on occasion for one to arrive. I got to the top of One World Trade (102 floors) quicker than the 25 stories to our room. ||The room itself was in serious need of renovation. The coat hooks wobbled, the window opened half an inch, there were light switches on the wall that did nothing. You had to fiddle with the switch on the mirror for a while to get the light to turn on. The heated towel rail didn’t work either. There was a ton of dust on top of the TV wall unit. The AC was very loud and you can’t adjust the fan speed, it was either off, on, or automatic (in practice on for 5 mins off for 5). ||On a positive note the room was clean other than dusty TV and AC/extractor fan vents, housekeeping did a great job of tidying up and making the bed, fresh towels every day etc and the room had a great view of midtown Manhattan. The staff were friendly enough, and the restaurant was nice. The location is good too for access to public transport and there are a few stores like CVS and Target within a couple of blocks.

6-day stay at this hotel: Comfortable and pleasant hotel — unless you are staying on the 4th floor. If so, I recommend asking for a room change. Very noisy hotel: We stayed on the 4th floor, where the reception, restaurant, and cabaret are also located. Between 6:00 PM and 9:30 PM, we could clearly hear the music and applause from the cabaret. The proximity of the gym also added noise (treadmills running, weights dropping), and the walls are too thin to properly block the sounds. Rooms on higher floors (5th to 27th) would likely be much quieter. Otherwise: The hotel is stylish and pleasant. The rooms are small but cozy, with a slightly "futuristic" design. The hotel is well located, with smooth self-check-in and check-out processes, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Nice view from our room on the 4th floor. The room was fairly clean (just a few minor marks on the walls).

Outstanding Service Thanks to Marilyn!||During my recent stay, I had the pleasure of being helped by Marilyn, and I can honestly say she made all the difference. Her exceptional customer service stood out from the moment we interacted. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed.||While the hotel itself felt a bit underwhelming, Marilyn’s professionalism and kindness more than made up for it. In fact, I would return to this hotel just because of her. Great staff like Marilyn are rare, and she truly made my stay memorable.||Marilyn, if you’re reading this—thank you so much! You’re the reason I’d come back.

Google
Location is great. The room was clean. Check in took 25 minutes. There was a long line but all 3 staff were focused on one customer instead of helping 15 people waiting in the line. They don't do a good job of explaining the features of hotel or what benefit is for the resort fee even they charge 49 dollars. I asked and the rep told me the benefit without explaining how I can get the benefit. Housekeeping kept knocking at door at like 9 am when we were still sleeping and a couple times before the checkout time. They need better customer service

Google
Basic hotel but fine as a base - we stayed for 5 nights and would use it again. We were on the 6th floor and had a nice view of the Hudson River. Check in and check out experience - the staff didn't make much effort. I don't think we got a smile when we checked in, let alone any attempt at a conversation or generic chat! As many others stated, the "robot" wasn't working for us to store luggage on check out. However, the main thing is the rooms were clean and the beds were really comfy and shower was great. You don't have loads of room but we were ok just living out of our cases on the floor. We didn't use the bar or restaurant in the hotel. Ultimately, we were out from 8:30am until about 10pm at least every day so we only slept in the room! I would use it again as a base as you can walk to the Hudson River and to attractions like the Edge or to get the ferry tours, only 10 mins or so to Times Square and the nearest subway.

Yelp
How do I start, I had a good experience BUT, this hotel is too over hyped and priced for nothing. I paid over $300 for one Saturday night to go see a play. There's barely any human interaction, ok cool, but like why are we paying so much then? The rooms are nice but they're still very small. They look bigger on the pictures online. The rooms are modern but I guess modern in NYC is just clean. It's a simple room and the bed slides up and down with the push of a button. Would I come back here? Most likely not unless there's a really good real. It was cool for a first time experience.

Yelp
A totally horrible experience! Our flight was delayed in DC due to weather in NYC. After sitting at the airport for 10 hours, American cancelled our flight. I had contacted YOTEL to inform we were delayed. I called America. Who could rebook us the next night at 10:20 pm to NYC. Since this was a 3 day trip, I decided we would rent a vehicle and drive the next morning. We got a room in DC and the next morning we headed to the city. We arrived at YOTEL at about 2:30 or 3:00. Which I called and told them after our flight was cancelled, we would arrive the next afternoon. Now I'm trying to be reimbursed for 1 night due to DCA being shut down and then our flight being cancelled. YOTEL will not refund us for that 1 night. Which by the way I paid $2257.17 for, and then was charged another $144.60 for city tax and some other tax. That's is about $800 a night! Then we get into the room, and you can't even walk in the place. It might have been 100 square feet! The beds were terrible, the AC barely cooled the room, and the whole facility is dingy. It's dark and uninviting! Total total total disappointment!!!!! We did enjoy the city and Sloomoo!!!!

Yelp
No issues with my room, check in, baggage hold or staff. Comfortable bed, nice location. I wish the shower door stayed open though. My friend had little to no water pressure in his room, however. Overall a great stay with some minor issues.

Yelp
I've stayed at YOTEL NYC many times over the years, but my June 2025 visit was a total let-down. The cabin's walls were scuffed and chipped in multiple spots and the entire room smelled of cigarette smoke despite the hotel's "100 % smoke-free" claim when I checked in. One elevators rattled on every ride and its ceiling lights flickered nonstop--hardly reassuring. Worst of all, Mission Control tried to charge me a "loyalty" fee of $70 just to store two items for 4 hours after checkout. The location is still handy for Javits Center events, but between the deteriorating rooms, safety concerns, and nickel-and-diming, YOTEL no longer delivers the value it once did. I'll be choosing another hotel on my next trip.

Yelp
Rooms not clean. Mold in shower. Bugs, lots of little bugs at window sill, in sink, in toilet. vending machine has crap coffee.

AMIR H.

Yelp
Yotel hotel, is a hidden gem, the rooms are clean, service is great, it's definitely an experience! I love the service and most importantly I loved the restaurant on the 4th floor. Johnny the Manager is awesome and his staff is amazing and the food is absolutely scrumptious and incredibly delicious. I didn't want to leave this review because I like to keep hidden gems a secret, but I felt I have the duty to leave this review.

Yelp
I found this hotel via the DayUse app. I just needed a few hours of sleep before work at 7pm. The use of the room between the hours of 9am - 5pm cost $79 + tax or about $139. In my eyes, it was worth it to be able to get some sleep for a few hours before heading to work as opposed to wandering around the city (not getting any rest). The hotel was a 15 minute walk from the hospital that I work. Was able to make to|from with no issue. The room was small, yet clean and functional for what I was using it for. Nice size bed (no comforter), small desk, tiny bathroom|shower. The hotel also provided wash cloth, towel, soap and lotion. I don't recall seeing a mini fridge or microwave, but I didn't need those items. Would definitely return again if a room was available for use.

Yelp
Stayed here for 3 nights. When we arrived after a long day of travel our reservation had been "cancelled ". Luckily they were able to fix it and still had a room for us. Rooms are tiny -- think cruise ship. The head of the bed elevates to give more room to walk around the room and then you lie it flat to sleep. Room was clean and did offer maid service every day. No ice machines, no coffee. Ridiculous resort fees on top of an already pricey room. Busy, bustling hotel. There is an automated way to drop your luggage off if your room isn't ready when you arrive which was nice. The location was great as well -- close to Times Square and Central Park.

Yelp
This was one of the worst and most disgusting hotels I have ever been to! On top of the $350 for the night, there was another $50 tax you pay when you sign in through the "kiosk". Now for the room: Shower is extremely dirty and the water leaks out. There was a horrible draft from door going outside, we had to put towels down to prevent the heavy draft. There was no coffee pot (shouldn't every hotel have a coffee pot?) OR a mini fridge. There is a small door that looked like a closet but it was a FURNACE and was filthy! Picture attached. Took a walk to get a snack from the dirty and 3/4 empty vending machine and got charged twice for Doritos that didn't dispense. Extremely loud music continued as of 10:00PM that I have taken a video of. Very pretentious and disgusted by this hotel will never stay again

Yelp
Got the corner queen room, really good experience. Simple check in and nice staff. It's pretty expensive but I think it's worth it.

Yelp
Small hotel, even for NY. As this was the preferred for my recent company trip, I didn't have any choice but here. Location was a bit on the West side of manhattan. It's across the street from CVS and Target is about 2 blocks north. I flew in to EWR and took the train to Penn. From there, it was a solid 25 min walk with my baggage. Overall, it was just sort of a weird vibe with all the purple lights and not very well lit hallways. And to get in, you have to take 2 elevators, first to 4th floor then another to where your rooms is. Bit odd in design. 2 things I do like is that their beds have power recline feature. And it comes with free breakfast, or at least the rate that my company had paid for.

Terry W.

Yelp
Small room, but clean. Not too many perks. They charge per-bag if you want to leave your luggage either before your check-in time, or after you check-out but before you have to the airport. We stayed in late April. Not very expensive compared to other similar hotels in the area. We did stay primarily because of location, and would be willing to stay again if we wanted to stay in that area again.

Yelp
A DUMP!!!!! I've been a victim of whatever cyber shut down America was experiencing today. So unfortunate because it's my son's 18th birthday and resulted in us having to stay here. (Our other reservation elsewhere was cancelled) This place is the ABSOLUTE WORST! Motel; not a hotel. I hate this for us. We've been trapped in the airport ALL DAY! And all we wanted to do was lay our heads somewhere comfortable in peace after a dreadful day of prolonged travel. This place is diplorable, and missed on all levels! Our room is dirty and needs painting and maintenance. It's small and cramped. The toilet is steps to the bathroom and my son was embarrassed to use it for lack of privacy. Customer service was poor. No help or compassion from Front desk clerk after waiting 20 plus minutes for her to return to desk for us to check in. So much more I could say. But... Patrons BEWARE. This is not where you want to stay!

James N.

Yelp
This place is a dump... also used day pass to book for half day between check out from my original hotel to my flight time in the evening. $79 for half day isnt bad but they charged $45 resort fee when I got there. It's a scam. You can hear all the honking from the cars. Very loud. Room is so small. 10ft by 10ft including the bathroom. It honestly feels like a jail cell. The bathroom is part of the room. There's a sliding divider but it's open at the top. the sink is out of the bathroom and part of the room. Looks and feels like a nice jail cell...Again, hotel is a dump...

Yelp
Overpriced ... My workplace tasked me with finding a hotel room under $300 in midtown during May 2024. Yotel was listed on the AAA website at $285/night and I thought, success! Until I arrived and was charged a $40/day "resort fee" plus "one time city taxes". The lobby was futuristic with self check-in kiosks. I was not able to use these and the security detail directed me to a back corner desk where concierge helped out. You ride an elevator up to the 4th floor in order to access a second bay of elevators to access your "cabin" (room). The "cabin" space was clean, futuristic and compact. I liked the purple mood lighting (brand reinforcement). It was interesting to see the smart use of such a small space, including built in wall shelves, closet bar sticking into the room for hanging items, and a reclining bed. (It took a bit to figure that feature out!) The bed was comfortable. It was noisy from outside ambiance continually throughout the evening and night (AGAIN, I do understand this is NYC). The bathroom is part of the bedroom which is separated by a glass partition wall. I was thankful to be traveling solo. I enjoyed the rain shower feature! Don't look too closely or you will notice this space is in need of updating and better cleaning. Food at the Social restaurant downstairs was tasty, but charging $19 for 2 fish tacos is outlandish! I definitely paid for convenience. OY! Overall, decent stay and it was frustrating to get hit with a handful of extra fees upon arrival. I'd stay again but the price would have to be half or less than what I paid on this visit.

Alex H.

Yelp
Great location and perfect for what we needed it for, which was just a room to shower and sleep in. The room is small, but we didn't need much space. There isn't a lot of closet room, but we were only staying for a weekend so we didn't need it. No fridge or microwave, but again, we were barely in the room. Room was very clean and aesthetically pleasing, the view was great, there was a steamer, ironing board, and a heated towel rack. There were also lights that you could set the color on! Great view and staff was very nice, helping us get taxis and getting us a ride back to laguardia for a flat fee cheaper than a taxi. I had to go to the bar for water because none of the floors had ice or water but not a huge deal. Overall, I liked it and would book again if I come for another weekend stay.

Yelp
I stayed at Yotel when they first came to Manhattan, and it was such a fun and enjoyable experience. Fast forward to 2024, and what seemed cool and interesting a decade ago is no longer being maintained in a way that is worth the rates they are charging. Additionally, while the staff is friendly, there is not much that can be done other than a remodel that would make me consider returning. The rooms are rundown and not well-maintained. When I think back to my original stay at Yotel NYC, it was something out of this world. I actually felt like I was in a space pod. The room was clean, bright, and modern. My experience this time was the opposite. For starters, the furniture was worn down, and there were dirt stains, possibly footprints, on my bedsheets. The TV in my room did not function properly, the towel warmer wasn't working, and the neon light around the perimeter of the TV is a parlor trick that was cool 10-15 years ago, but something that every teenager has in their bedroom right now. None of the cool amenities that could make this tiny room worth the expense were available or of value to me. There is no place to conduct business functions, unlike most hotels that have some space carved out for professionals. The one saving grace of this hotel was the outdoor seating on the fourth floor, but that's open to the public, so in reality, you don't have to stay there to enjoy it.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Whew, staying here was a ride. I booked a stay here online several months prior and it noted I would be charged during check in (as standard) vs in advance online during booking. I arrived the day of my stay around 9 am and made my peace about wanting to pay the ludicrous early check in price of $120 (what on Earth) because I really wanted a shower and place to change / freshen up after my travel to the city. They informed me they were fully booked so this wasn't possible. I paid $13 in cash to check my bags (something that has never happened to me at a hotel in my life). I then asked to use their public restroom to change and freshen up. The restroom was dirty with water and toilet paper strewn across the floor and with sinks that didn't all work. Furthermore, the stalls were tiny so I was doing gymnastics to change inside them. I left for my day with the intention to return around dinner time to check in. I received an e-mail from the hotel around lunch time informing me that they had charged my card for my stay (though I had not checked in yet) and that my credit card had declined (though I had been using it all day with no trouble) and that since my card declined they would be cancelling my stay. Incredibly alarmed by this, I called the woman who emailed me twice with no response, then called the hotel itself 3 times with no response. Upon arriving to the hotel when I had planned to check in originally, the electronic kiosk informed me my reservation had been cancelled. I made my way over to the front desk where the clerk informed me it was their policy to charge people in advance of their check in when the hotel was fully booked. I have never experienced this at any other hotel I have ever stayed at. She then proceeded to tell me it was because my card declined that I was having all these issues. I asked to book the same stay again and miraculously!! the card did not decline (I have never had my card decline in my life this is quite literally their machine's fault). The room itself is tiny even for NYC standards. It is also not clean; the air vents are atrocious with dust and mildew and you cannot turn off the AC or heater which leaves this dust / mildew circulating your room the whole night. The bed is remote controlled with a button by the desk that can convert it from a chaise lounge chair to a normal bed. This wasn't explained to me and I didn't locate the remote the first night so I spent that night sleeping upright which was very unpleasant. This hotel also has this two elevator situation that requires guests to take an elevator to the 4th floor and transfer to another elevator to take you to your actual room. Overall, while this location in Midtown is convenient, it is worth it to spend extra and stay elsewhere.

D C.

Yelp
This place is absolutely RIDICULOUS! $1100 a night and it's so small that like a hospital bed you have to push a button to lay it down. The reason is because the room is SO small that once you lay the bed down you barely have enough room to walk by it because the room itself is slightly bigger than a queen sized bed. It's also very old and used overall. Once again, New York has proven to be the worst city in the U.S. Like the city, this hotel is old, used and dirty. If possible, I highly recommend you stay OUT of the city and travel in IF you can. NOTHING good about NYC except good food choices.

Micky R.

Yelp
I had an out of town guest, we had booked Yotel Times Square which is actually not in Times Square, it's in Hell's Kitchen. Not a lot to do unless you take an Uber or, A Lyft into Times Square . The room appeared to be nice, but things started going south after we settled. The WiFi didn't work, there were no blankets on the very hard bed that messed up my back, there was no comforter on the bed , just sheets . Hospitality complained when we asked to bring more than one blanket, because they had to go downstairs and back up to our room. The hospitality then proceeded to ask if the heat was working after bringing a second blanket. There is no room service, No water tea or coffee offered in the room . The room was the penthouse king, with the amount of money the price tag is, you'd think you'd be treated much better. The bartender didn't understand what a Prosecco spritzer was and I had to tell him? It's a white wine spritzer but made with Prosecco. I emailed upper management, no reply at all. I sent the email 1am Saturday night, Sunday morning technically. It is now Thursday, not one word or even an apology for the yet experience, 2 emails later this There has been zero response. Worst hotel I've stayed in , and definitely not the experience you are told you'd have . We checked out Saturday morning and went to a different hotel, we had a very good time at Margaritaville hotel that was actually in time's square, not the outskirts of Times Square. Save your money and don't stay at Yotel. The Staff at margaritaville made sure we had accommodations without even a second thought, unlike Yotel NYC.

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
The location and connecting parking garage were the only good things about this place. So incredibly overpriced for the condition of the hotel. There is a lack of transparency for pricing and additional fees. We were charged $48 upon checking in and $70 for parking but were told that it would only cost $40 to park for 24 hours as guests...When we questioned the additional fees and parking, we were told it was all due to "taxes". The bathroom was disgusting. The shower and sink looked like they had not been cleaned. Our bed sheets and towels were clean and free of stains and hairs. And normally I'm ok with some scuffing and normal wear and tear, but the desk and bed frame surfaces were just crusty.

Sylina W.

Yelp
I get the concept and can imagine the intention and possibility when it first opened but NOW, not so much. A very busy, dirty lobby area. Check in staff were very pleasant. You take the elevator to another Lobby/Main floor area, walk to a different set of elevators to go to rooms/pods. The 2nd Lobby area has dining room and restaurant, outdoor seating for restaurant. Apparently you can't just access the outdoor patio without confirming to sit for dining at the restaurant which was disappointing. The room/pod hallway was narrow. The room itself (1708) was outdated, extremely small and unappealing. I was so very happy we weren't sleeping there. Just a temporary stay until out late flight out. I don't know if everything worked as we only used it as a spot to leave bags and change clothes. I will say we were so daunted by the appearance of the bathroom that we opted not to shower there, we waited until we arrived home that night after flying.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Yotel while visiting New York. It is such a quick walk to Times Square, Hudson Yards, The High Line and so much more. The staff was amazing. They were genuine, friendly and helpful. There was one staff member with a short pony tail, unfortunately cant recall his name, but he was great. we had a few laughs and he greeted us each and every time we entered or left for the day. He went above and beyond. The rooms may be compact but they are perfect if you are traveling solo or with one other person. There were a couple of minor inconveniences during our stay but nothing terrible or that made they stay bad. I believe one of the elevators was down on the last night of our stay, they have 3 total in the lobby. The A/C for the rooms does not stay on while you are gone, so upon checking in we found the room was very hot and the a/c took a while to finally cool down. Everything is pretty self sufficient. You check in at the kiosks, get your key cards. They do have a robot in the lobby for you to leave your luggage to pick up later. I believe the check out process is done at the kiosks as well. There are a couple of restaurants on site as well as vending machines for a quick snack or drink. The rooms were clean but i remember the walls being very thin and you can hear pretty much everything going on. Slept great, the bed was comfy and room was clean. Book your next stay at Yotel!

Brad S.

Yelp
The fact that they call themselves a 4-star hotel is comical. The doors are awful and we could hear any low volume conversation in the hallway in perfect detail, and every time a door closed it sounded like our own door was being slammed. Front desk outright rude at check in, and had to pay extra 50 bucks for "early" check in (at 1pm instead of 3pm) then still got a bed on 2nd floor overlooking loud entryway. The shower pressure is miserable. They don't even give you new paper cups daily, you just have to keep reusing your crumbling paper cups for the entire stay. We will never stay in another Yotel.

Max O.

Yelp
I took my fiancé to NYC over the Christmas and New Year holidays. I decided to book a premium Queen skyline view room on the 18th floor. The room was anything but premium and does not compare to my other my previous Yotel experiences. I'm writing this Yelp review because a Yotel NYC has been non responsive to my complaint. The room was much smaller so it was very difficult to move in the room. Handsoap and shampoo were empty. If they prepared the room...they sure did a good job. The walls and carpet were visibly dirty, and the furniture was worn, dirty, and in disrepair. The TV shelf frame was missing, and the purple ambient lighting behind the TV was not functional. The TV itself was also very small. Mold was present in the corners of the shower. The window hinge was broken, so it let through a cold breeze. This stay did not compare to my other Yotel experiences and I could have spent the money at Hilton.

A bit uncomfortable for me. Great staff and very helpful. Just not my type of hotel. Rooms are too small. Limited privacy. No doors on bathroom No fridge. No pool. Location was good. Lots of restaurants around. The food in the outdoors restaurant of 4th floor was yummy.

Yelp
The rooms are small and that's not a surprise if you look at any pictures. The bed was very comfortable. Compactness was not a problem. We were there for the city not the room. But, the toilet is RIGHT THERE and there is no way to avoid hearing what is going on unless your partner turns on the shower for the duration. The decor is pretty futuristic and sleek. The view was great. If you want the breakfast buffet, it is $24 extra per person per day. We skipped it because neither of us want a big breakfast. There is a nice coffee shop across the street. If we were big breakfast eaters, it might have been worth it. The cocktails and cheese board we had at the bar a couple of evenings were lovely. The outside seating was very comfortable. Do not expect to have ice in your room. There were 4 small cups by the sink. I took a larger cup I had with me to the ice machine on Thursday and used that. On Friday, there was no ice in the machine. Saturday morning, we saw someone from management checking out the floor so we expected that to be fixed when we returned. It was not. My husband went looking and found a working machine 2 floors up. Sunday, I checked as we came in. No ice. I look my large cup to the bar to ask for some and was told to ask downstairs as they are separate and she refused to give me a scoop of ice in my cup. Downstairs, I was handed an ice bucket and told that if it wasn't working on my floor and to try the one above or below me. Not only was there no ice either place, there were no ice MACHINES. I went back down and was assured that there would be some 2 floors above me. I know that's small. But, it is also ridiculous. There are 669 rooms in the building with 18 actual floors of rooms.

Yelp
This hotel was terrible for its price point. The shower was dirty with stains and boogers on the wall. The bed frames were peeling and old with dead skin in the edges. Their walls were damaged on every corner. It just felt dirty and uncomfortable during our entire stay. Additionally, we asked if we can check out at 12PM since it said it was complimentary and the front desk person said yes but didn't note what room we were in (even though I told her). The day we checked out, housekeeping knocked on our door to let us know check out was at 11AM. I had to go down to the front desk again to let them know so we wouldn't get hit with unexpected fees. I do not recommend this spot as it was 400 a night and parking was 50 bucks per day. Stay somewhere else to protect your sanity and wallet.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE!! I REPEAT, DO NOT STAY HERE. When checking in for my stay, the representative informed me my booking had been cancelled. I was traveling from across the United States. I asked the representative why would my booking be cancelled and I was told it was "due to billing." I informed the representative that I did not wish to stay at the hotel due to the inconvenience of checking in and no longer having an active booking. I left the hotel to stay at a much more professional and well managed facility. A few weeks after my stay, I noticed a random charge of $1,175.37 on my bank statement from Yotel. I have tried reaching out to customer service for weeks now and they are refusing to refund me my money. I did not stay here, I did not authorize the charges, nor will ever ever stay here. Take your hard earned money somewhere else. This place is horrible in every way possible!

Yelp
Before I get into the nitty gritty of the review, I do have to mention that all of the employees here were SO NICE. Interacted with several staff members and they were all friendly and lovely. However, that's not quite enough to get this hotel five stars, or even four stars. If I were a young, broke twentysomething, or someone who was literally only coming here to sleep, then this hotel would have been fine. The second scenario was almost true, however I did try to get some work done in my room, and that was a struggle with the spotty WiFi. A couple of times I got the connection error message that told me to move closer to the router, which was hilarious considering that the room was a shoebox and I was in bed only inches away from the desk. What was I supposed to do, sit Indian-style on top of the desk? Lol. Listen, for under $200 a night in midtown Manhattan, I understand that you're not going to get a lot of space. On that note, I must mention that the price point and location were exceptional. The hotel was within walking distance from Times Square, Penn Station, and a ton of excellent restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. Yet, the street wasn't too loud and there wasn't too much trouble getting picked up or dropped off via rideshare, so that was a major plus. Now, for the grievances. The AC was hard to figure out. It seemed to go on and off sporadically. Don't think it was broken, just think it was an energy-saving thing. There's no real closet, just a rod with four hangers and two teensy drawers. For a couple days worth of clothes this wasn't unbearable, but I wasn't super jazzed about having my whole travel wardrobe hanging inches from my bed. The bed folds up to save space when you don't need it, which gives it a real hospital vibe (the white didn't help.) No fridge. :( There were some chipped corners on furniture which made the room feel a bit outdated. Sink was leaky and sprayed out in various directions. Didn't feel the cleanest, but nothing worth storming downstairs for. Shower was nice, and the soaps and lotions were plentiful and nice-smelling. View wasn't bad either, especially at sunset. Walls seemed a bit thin and I vaguely recall waking up to noise a couple times through the nights, but I was so exhausted that I quickly fell back asleep. The gym is super teensy, and odd to find. You have to walk through the restaurant and go through a random door, follow the hallway. There was only one elliptical, two treadmills, two Peloton bikes, and a row of weights and mats, all squished together into a space the size of a hotel room. There weren't ever too many people when I went, but a space that size feels crowded quickly, and it's always a bummer when someone's on the machine you want to use. There's a restaurant and rooftop bar which is pretty nice, but drinks are pricey. Also a theatre which was cool, we saw Drunk Shakespeare there. Didn't have to store my luggage so not sure if that's working or not at the moment, assuming not reading other reviews. Though I didn't experience this part personally, I will say that I would be pretty miffed if my hotel couldn't keep my luggage, in NYC especially. Wasn't a totally awful experience, fine value for money, but this probably wouldn't be my first choice for another business trip. Might consider staying on a personal trip if I needed somewhere cheap to crash to keep costs down.

Yelp
Yotel Part deux This was my second time at Yotel. Last time was a disappointment....but this time Last time the front desk guys " with dreads " were horrible! This time....maybe they listened ? Perfect! Girl either dreads assisted me in adding a day. That's how good it was. I asked for a fridge and they accommodated me while I went out to see the city. House keeping The shower was one of the stars! Heavy hot water Safe easy to navigate. But the real stars is the greeters. Specifically, the guy with the bald head. ( my bad I forgot your name). Immediately, they help you sign in ( with an easy hand). No rushing. Just there to help! At late night when you come in off the street. No interrogators...just can I see you key I gave 2 stars ladt time , because outside of the greeters.. that's what they deserved. This time, 5 Stars My go to hotel when I'm in NYC

Yelp
Really mixed feelings, leaning towards bad! Plus: The folks at the front desk and the security guy were very pleasant and took their time in helping everyone they encountered. (Added) Plus: The soundproofing on the exterior facing wall and window is outstanding! You'd never know there was bedlam on the streets below. Neutral: while nice, the room is very small. It's made up of a small desk next to bed on one side, a place for your luggage on the other, and a tv in front. It's a queen bed, with about 3 feet of space for the functions noted on the 3 sides, which by my calculations makes it about a 10x11 living space. Oh, and in spite of tons of traffic around the building, room was almost immune to the hubbub! (Added) Negative: You know when those in the room above you are taking a shower and when those around you are entering and leaving their room. Negative: the Wi-Fi! It's Saturday, so maybe it will be better in the week, but as is, it's nearly non-functional. As I need to do work from the room and an paying a resort fee to in part cover this, it's totally unacceptable. The staff gave the only response they could, a lot of guests, but still not acceptable! In the end, a great location, with the final decision being what is important to you!

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel this past week, Monday, 4/8-Wednesday, 4/10. The room was a corner room with a nice view. Unfortunately, that was the only good thing about our room. As we unpacked and looked around the room, we were appalled by the lack of cleanliness. There was dirt, grime, mold, and hair in the bathroom sink and shelves. The sink drain had a thick dark circle of mold around it and in the corners of the sink, there was also dirt and mold. The shelf in the bathroom was covered in dust, dirt, and hair. The bed railing was also covered in dirt. I went to the front desk and spoke to a gentleman. I told him our remote control wasn't working and then told him that our bathroom was dirty, especially the sink. He asked me what time we got there and I told him we had just arrived within the hour. We were headed out and asked him if he could send someone up to take care of it. We arrived back a few hours later. They replaced the remote, but the bathroom hadn't been touched. Absolutely gross to see that much grime. We used napkins to try and wipe up the crap in the sink. I've attached photos of the sink, bed railing, and shelf in the bathroom. We should be receiving compensation for having to deal with this and have already contacted the Better Business Bureau. We had had a wonderful experience at the Yotel in Washington DC, so we thought we'd have the same in NYC. Nope. Not even close. Do better.

Yelp
Very fast paced. Near the tourists stops. It is self Check in which threw me off. The room was clean and modern looking. Though there was very little moving around room. Loved the rooftop

Yelp
I am appalled by the service we received here. Since the yobot luggage robot thing was broken, we had to pay a fee to leave our luggages with someone prior to check-in. The people who held our luggages were extremely rude and condescending. We were unable to get our bags when we came back because apparently we missed the cut-off time, so we had to spend the night without our stuff. The next morning the luggage people were clearly upset with us and tried to charge us an extra $10 and claimed that we should've known about the charge (the people the day before had not informed us about this at all). The employee they grabbed from the front desk (maybe a manager?) also seemed annoyed by these luggage guys and told us we would be able to get our bags back just fine. In addition, the night that we stayed we barely got any sleep due to something causing the fire alarm to go off every few minutes in the middle of the night. This occurred in all rooms of hotel, and other guests we talked to the next morning were also frustrated by this. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the people at the front desk were very kind. That same maybe-manager guy that the luggage men dragged over when we were trying to get our luggage back was super chill and let me go back to my room after check-out when I forgot my Apple watch. Other that that, I was not impressed by our stay. I'm surprised as the Yotel we stayed at in Singapore was amazing and a great experience. I would not return here again.

Yelp
Yotel is terrible I would never stay there again. I booked a 3-night stay but missed night 1 because my was delayed by the airline. I told yotel this ASAP. They then charged me full price plus a $500 "no show fee." Outrageous.

Yelp
Super convenient spot to be at in Hell's Kitchen in NYC. Pretty affordable pricing so small rooms is perfectly fine, but there is absolutely 0 sound proofing whatsoever, late at night you will hear people walking and laughing down the hall, in the early morning you will hear house keeping vacuuming and doors opening and slamming shut. If you really want to save a couple bucks and don't mind the noise then I would say this is the perfect spot for you. But if you could afford to spend some extra, this is definitely a hotel to avoid. The thing that also confused me was that house keeping and the people that work or stand at the front door are all super helpful and friendly. But the people sitting at check in seemed absolutely miserable and like they hated their jobs.

Natalina C.

Yelp
The behavior of the three women working at the front desk in the lobby was unacceptable--they had an attitude, were slow, and openly complained about their jobs and customers. One at the front desk even said, "I need a vacation. I can't deal with these people. They see the kiosk right there and still come up to me for help." During my kiosk check-in, another customer struggled with error messages and got an attitude when seeking help. Despite this, the room layout was fine. I didn't see problems with cleanliness it was just run down. I liked the interior design but the place needs to be freshened up and a paint job. Some hallways reeked of cigarette smoke. I suggest exploring other places to stay due to the concerning behavior of some staff members and overall quality management. Unfortunately, when I emailed Yotel about the staff it was ignored, indicating a lack of concern on their part.

Yelp
I stayed here once before and really thought it would be fun for a non-work trip to bring my niece. I did find the room still had its cool charm but so many things were not great. I plan to not make another visit. The luggage storage robot in the lobby is 'down for refurbishment' but it looks semi-permanently offline. They offer NO luggage storage other than perhaps 'upgrading' your check in to an early check in for $50. So basically bag storage is $50 when you arrive. When you depart...they refer you to some local services you can look up on your phone and haul your bags to. BAD SERVICE. While they have 5 elevators I don't know if some are down or they don't operate efficiently but we stood in endless lines on numerous locations desperate to get from the guest floor (4th floor) to the room or from the room to the outside. We rode 'up' a few times just to get on an elevator. We contemplated the stairs--even from the 21st floor.... The entry lobby off the street still feels a bit stark and unkempt. That was my impression last time and that hasn't changed. And not terribly welcoming....I get the self serve vibe but at some other hotels that do this the one person there is at least welcoming! Most of their dining is closed. The little grab and go place in their small restaurant actually has great coffee drinks and croissants. One bright spot! Especially bright since when I tried to use the coffee/latte machine it seemed it was 'too full of transactions' and wouldn't sell me anything. We did eat breakfast once at the actual small restaurant they are operating. The food was not bad other than it took far too long to arrive...especially when they have like a 6 item menu...and they weren't that busy. First morning...cold shower. I will give them a pass on this since I know stuff sometimes goes wrong but it was a bummer. They seem to be using some of their space as a venue for performances? Good for them...except when you are just staying at the hotel it sucks to have to fight your way through a throng to get to the room elevators...and everything is closed except to those there for the special event. Glad there were food and beverage options nearby since the hotel didn't seem to care to offer any. Go somewhere else I'd say.

Yelp
Complete scam. We booked a room at a rate on June 20th with confirmation. Suddenly today an email stating there was a "glitch" in their system and the rate cannot be honored. They offer a bogus discount code to rebook. When rebooking the rate is over $1,000 more than the original booking! And to think I was referring the hotel! That won't happen again! Needless to say this in illegal business practice and I will most definitely pursue. Posting here so others avoid this scam hotel as one of the worst things to experience when traveling is having your lodging suddenly become a stressful situation. THEIR EMAIL SENT TO SEVERAL WHO BOOKED THE SAME DATES: YOTEL YOTEL New York Times Square Thank you for your recent YOTEL New York Times Square booking that you made on June 20th 2024. Yelp
Start with the phone so we can call the front desk. Follow with adding some glue to stick the tabletop to the table. Fix the shower so that overhead shower fixture works. Fix the seal on the shower door so that the water stays in the shower instead of flowing out onto the floor. These unfortunate issues explain why the floor was in such ill repair - clearly this has happened before. Scrape the floors that have peeling paint and refinish. Leave some directions to explain some of the quirks - bed only extends if the main light switch is on. Charger beneath the tv only works with the main light switch on. Respond appropriately (ie apologize and send maintenance when you say you will) when the above concerns are reported. 2 good things about this place - they let us store our luggage prior to checkin so we could explore the city freely and it was in a good location. The bedding also seemed crisp and clean and bed & pillows were relatively comfortable.

Yelp
i would love to say my stay was roach free, but it wasn't. i left my room around 8pm and got back around 2am and was greeted with roaches on my side of the headboard. i was immediately disgusted and wanted to leave. i asked for a new room and a refund. They did not honor any of that. i had to wait an hour to get a new room. They won't refund my money and told me to wait 5 weeks to see if an exterminator comes. truly disgusting and disappointing. i stayed here very often but i don't think i can bring myself too after that experience.

Chevon B.

Yelp
Be careful with this hotel; they might cancel your reservation and claim the pricing was an error. They offered me a "special new rate" that was $400 more for the same room and length of stay. They should've honored the original quote listed on their site.

Janine M.

Yelp
Had to think this one through before proceeding with my review. Super small rooms that could probably use a deep clean. Because the room was so small, it's like the shower and toilet were a few feet away from the bed with only a glass partition to separate. No ice bucket, but they did have crushed ice (that we had to go 5 floors down for since the one on our floor was broken) The only real person we saw was a security guard. The kiosk automated check in made it feel so impersonal. Location was good, but overall more meh than wow. Glad we only stayed for a couple of nights. Not worth the price though. I wouldn't go back. I'm sure there are worse places, but I'd rather splurge a bit more next time and not feel worried about the little things.

Yelp
This place looks like an uncool person's idea of a "cool" hotel. Everything is old and kinda dirty. I've learned my lesson that anything under $200/night is probably not worth it in NY. Hotel: -You have to take multiple elevators to get to the room -NO LUGGAGE STORAGE - the Yobot, a robot that stores luggage for you and what was once maybe a cool feature is out of service. They offered us a QR code to find luggage storage nearby but what a major inconvenience -Lobby is so sparse and the main revolving door was closed Room: -White decor looks dirty -There wasn't even a fitted sheet on the bed, just a flat sheet and the sheets felt weird like they weren't washed fully and still had soap on it -No blackout curtain -No refrigerator *The only pro- a very powerful rainfall showerhead The beds were ok for sleeping so I'll give it a 2 star.

B T.

Yelp
I actually had a great time here. The rooms are cool and efficient for traveling to NYC, especially for business. The staff is very cool, there's security at the front, very helpful. Rooms were clean, the cleaning staff were ready early every morning. Its in the heart of HK, so I love it, lots of restaurants all around, everything is there. A great mix of NYC, cool, sane, crazy and all in between, which makes NYC so special. There's a dispensary on every other corner, so no need to bring, they have Cali flowers in NYC:).

Nijah B.

Yelp
stayed here for my bday weekend booked a suite king bed and terrace and they downgraded me to a twin bunk bed room all they could say was sorry we over booked !! horrible experience along with the front desk. and it was my birthday at that. horrible experience

Sunshine R.

Yelp
I was skeptical about booking with YOTEL due to all bad reviews but I took one for the team and I do not regret it! We had a "first class corner queen room " and it was the best thing ever. We were on the 12th floor and the view was amazing. Checking in is nice & easy because it is self check in. The room was a nice size for a couple. Only thing you need to mess with a bit is the room lights to get the bathroom lights on but it was not hard to figure out what to keep on and off to have the bathroom lights on. Shower water was nice and warm, everyone complained about there not being hot/ warm water but water was nice n warm. Love that the hotel is not right on time square it is a 5 min walk to Times Square BUT a nice walk , you get to see all the local restaurants and delis they have etc. ONLY thing is that Times Square is far from the airport so regardless where you stay be prepared to pay a lot of money to the city whether you are taking a cab or on Uber. 10/10 next time I come to New York I will be staying again.

Yelp
If you need an inexpensive place to stay near Time Square Yotel will do. But the basic rooms are really only suitable for one person. Bathrooms are basically open to the room itself, and the space is too small to stay for more than a night or two. As one reviewer put it, it definitely has a cheap, plastic feel to it. Also, the bathroom in my room smelled like a homeless person had been living in it. I had to hold my breath to shower.
