Nestled in the mountains, West Kill Brewery offers stunning views, fantastic brews, and a chill atmosphere that makes it a must-visit gem.
"Sure, you can do one of the famously tough hikes surrounding the area, like Devil’s Path or North Dome, if you want to wake up before sunrise and finish at dusk. Or, you can carve out a reasonable, short hike at Diamond Notch and reward yourself with a beer right after. West Kill is stretched out on 128 acres with some of the most impressive sightlines in upstate New York—somehow, you’re immersed in the woods but also able to see for miles, as the brewery is perched on a hill looking out over the mountains. It’s dog-friendly, and the perfect spot to relive your recent hike or bike ride (just, you know, not necessarily from that day). Their Brookie lager and Kaaterskill hazy IPA are the staples, almost always on tap, and the Earn Your Keep pale ale is a local favorite that pops up every few months. " - keith hernandez
"West Kill Brewery is technically not in Hunter or Tannersville, but since it’s right next to the Hunter Mountain trailhead, we’ll give it a pass. It’s located right on the side of the mountain, which gives you the best possible view you can have while drinking a beer without actually buying a lift ticket or going on a hike (although, you should also do that). They also typically have a pop-up serving snacks and bar food like crispy cauliflower sandwiches and miso butter brussels sprouts for you to munch on while hanging out at the picnic tables or playing their lawn games.
