Vermeyden Delicatessen

Tasty food but Extremely OVERPRICED. I have ordered 2 tiny boxes of cooked dish, tapas size really. One is vegetarian and the other with chicken, no pricy ingredients... and cost 19 euros!

Great place to have lunch, I asked for the 1/2 baguette old rotterdam, very tasty. Very polite service and heard how they explained details about wine to the people sit next to me. You have a small "market" Inside

Decent, but too overpriced The food is fine, it's a basic quality sandwich, but overpriced in my opinion. 3 stars because you get charged EXTRA (it was 7,50 extra for two people) for being seated, for the same sandwich! Probably won't go back here for the food. The selection of specialities, cheeses etc is good. For good Italian foodstuffs I would recommend Little Italy at Blaak square

Sliced meats and cheeses are exclusively good. Their fresh salads also make great appetizers whenever we have guests over. Large selection of wines.

Had a great lunch here. Vitello Tonato in a perfect balance of fresh very tasteful ingredients. Super friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly. Broad range of quality products in the shop: wine, cheese, jam, marmelade, olive oil just to name a few

Vermeyden is the place I visit, in case I need a gift for people who have everything, but can always use some quality food in the form of wines, exquisite cheeses, tapas et cetera. Always a huge hit to give.

You have choices in your life and one of them is to decide whether to shop in large shops or little ones. If you decide the latter then Vermeyden is your destination store. This store has been around since 1908 and might just be the oldest shop we have featured. A family run business situated in the longest shopping street of the Netherlands provides a great selection of quality wines, meats, bread and other delicious foods. If you are looking for a nice lunch Vermeyden is also a good option with a nice terrace outside as well. They will be happy to serve you whether it is a take-a-way sandwich or a coffee. But if you are in the mood for something more extraordinary visit the cheese counter where they will also tempt your taste buds with nuts and other delicatessen. There is a reason why they have been here for so long and my guess is they will not leave anytime soon. Delicious sandwiches, great coffee and a really lovely atmosphere make this place an great choice for weekend brunch or just a coffee break. They also have the most amazing delicacies on offer; it's like a sweet shop for grown-ups! Wether you're into sweet or savoury, they have everything; cheeses, meats, olives, chocolates, biscuits and more. Tip: I find it hard to get a mocha in Rotterdam but the staff were really nice and excited about trying something new when I asked for a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso; I would highly recommend the result!
