The Social Hub Rotterdam

A hotel with very good amenities and a fairly good location, as there is a tram 50 meters from the hotel with direct access to the city center. Very pleasant atmosphere, with a bar downstairs where you can enjoy coffee, beer, or a sandwich. You could also leave your luggage after check-out. Highly recommend it.

The hotel has a good location, not ideal center but very close distance. Overall the stays was fine, but the room lacked some little but basic comfort features, such as hair dryer, a coffee machine or a kettle (because there was come instant coffee placed). I appreciated that I was offered still water in my room (always a plus). The corridors need to be ventilated - the smell was not very pleasant, resembling the one I remember from a student dormitory.

Where to start... Reception staff quite friendly.. Ground floor looked fun with pool tables, photo booths ect. Bedroom... Dust all over the unit, pen up the walls and on the toilet door, I felt like I'd walked into a teenagers room. There was blood on my duvet so I couldn't sleep with that the first night, I did manage to speak to someone the day after to get a new duvet sheet. Bed wasnt too bad. Unfortunately I ended up checking out a day early as I didn't feel as comfortable as I would of liked. We was on the top floor with a view of the back of the hotel so not much too look at. If you're looking for as basic as possible this is the place for you.. As our first couple holiday this put a slight damper on things. Unfortunately we wouldn't return but that's just my opinion.

1 star for service but that doesn’t mean the staff wasn’t great. They were super helpful and friendly but the hotel is being mismanaged - only two staff members running the reception desk, breakfast buffet and kitchen on a Sunday morning when the hotel was fully booked! Impossible with 480 rooms! Management should really prioritise attracting more staff and making the work pressure lower for their current staff members. Now, guests have to wait up to 20 minutes to ask a question at the reception desk. No more cutlery, no more coffee cups, no tables are being cleared. Room was fine but way too warm. AC was on non stop from 9pm till 7am and temperature only went down to 24-25 degrees. Bed was super comfortable, pillows horrible. Curtains don’t black out the daylight. Cabinets weren’t cleaned properly. Shower wouldn’t drain and filthy stuff came out of the drain.

Stayed at The Social Hub - Rotterdam. Great location right by the tram stop to the Centrum, 20 min walk or half that time on bike :-) Large and Spacious with lovely cafe and co working spaces. My accommodation was really special, comfortable king size bed, modern bathroom with powerful shower and a useful kitchenette. Free bike use/gym/laundry and weekly yoga/pilates classes. Would have given 5 stars if the bar within opened a little later for hotel guests (closed at 10pm) however there are really cool bars nearby that open later. Overall can't fault this hotel. It made my stay really pleasurable with lots of smiley staff :-)

Update: They reached out after writing this review & offered a compensation, so at least they admitted their mistake.. RIP OFF - STAY AWAY They charge normal hotel prices (+100€/night) & treat it as a student housing. The room received was different from that in the pictures online. When we complained, we received no answer till a week later (we stayed there for 2 weeks). Reception staff are all students/young people who would dismiss your problem or ignore you altogether. We later figured out that it was actually a "student hotel", in which students live for less than half the price we paid for it as a hotel. They changed the name to attract higher paying customers I guess (at least explains why we were treated as in a student housing)..

They never maintain their washing and drying machines. It's hard to imagine that with so many student accommodations and hotel rooms, they have only five machines each and they break down literally every day. You pay more than 1000euro each month but you can barely wash you clothes here. Hilarious. Wouldn't recommend. The rooms are not quite either. Carpets have unpleasant smell. The staffs are mostly friendly but they won't actually solve your problems.

Only ONE clothes dryer works in the entire hotel/accomodation (and it has been that way for the past two months), the reception staff get catty and sarcastic when you report this to them. I asked for a month continually for a chair for my room - which was not provided as stated in the room description. It was still not provided after a month of asking. The weekly cleaning is inconsistent. The price per month is double that of anywhere else and is a scam. Furthermore, send any type of complaint via email or reception desk and you will get ignored.
