"The Roasterie has a few locations around Kansas City, but none as cool as the Factory location on the Westside. You can spot the building and the giant plane swooping off the roof from miles away. Clean lines, high ceilings, free wifi, lots of air-roasted coffee, you may not want to go home. Air-roasting is their claim to fame, it enhances the flavors of their direct trade coffee beans and they do it in the factory location. It’s fun to watch the forklifts drive around. The Roasterie team cares about the quality of the beans, the coffee and taking care of the farmers. With several specialty blends and coffees sourced world wide, you are bound to find a favorite, maybe 2 or 3." - Rachel Sleeter

"When you see a literal plane taking off from the roof of this factory, you’ll know you’ve made it to The Roasterie. Kansas City’s local coffee chain is all over the city, but the free tours of the factory produced makes the West Side location a must-visit for coffee nerds. Take the 30-minute tour, learn about their air-roasting method, and grab a mint-chocolate Brookside Bob or The Honeycomb latte. You can come here for a quick coffee or stay all day, work, and browse their range of sustainably-sourced coffee—they have options like a whiskey barrel-aged roast or a chocolatey roast made in partnership with local chocolatier Christopher Elbow." - Ryan Bernsten

Very interesting location. Love the fact you can look in on the roasting and brewing processes. If you're a coffee lover, visit the factory store location.

Google
Went on a paid tour. Sampled Seve shots of espresso from light to dark. Saw the roasters and learned a little about the history of this business. It was a pleasant experience ❤️

This place is really cool! The building looks really neat, & the staff friendly. I unfortunately didn't know what to get since I can only get decaf. I bought the Italian soda & it wasn't the best in my opinion. I'll definitely try the only decaf option next time! The smells in the building were amazing! I hope to return & take a tour of the factory!

Google
This was such a fun tour to do. We learned about the making of coffee and k cups as well as sampling multiple cups of coffee and cold brew. Everything was good but the cold brew with raspberry tea is delish!

Matthew Marlin

Google
Absolutely awesome facility and espresso, I only wish they had more information about the airplane, how they acquired it, and how they got it on the roof! Baristas were very friendly but unfortunately didn’t know the story.

VISITED WEDNESDAY, JULY 3, 2024 Boy o boy, wish we came to this coffee shop before the previous one! It’s really interesting! Lots to look at! The main attraction is the large vintage airplane overtop of the shop. This must be their main hub. We did get beverages here: Chai Tea Latte, a horchata coffee (can’t remember the correct name) and a black iced tea. I enjoyed my coffee and so did my husband (tea) and daughter. They sure know how to make a drink. While waiting, I noticed you can take tours of the Roasterie. Would’ve loved to if we’d known and had time. The shop was full of varieties of coffees and other take home keepsakes. The coffee area has pastries and breakfast items too. And the come from another local coffee shop down the road. That is where we went first! See review! It was easy to find, lots of places to sit inside and outside and a lot to observe. I look forward to returning here in the future!

Google
Love their coffee. I got the drip. Wife had a mocha. Vegetarian burrito was small but tasty. The beans are smoky so it's an interesting twist, but works. Tortilla was perfect (very important for a burrito, of course). Chewy but not gummy. And appeared to be lightly grilled, which i love. Crossaint was nice. Service was great. Atmosphere was comfortable, with a lot of natural light.

Google
Truly an above average coffee experience. With factory tours and roasting on site, this is definitely a place you need to take in. Coffee Cupping experience. Unique, and so enjoyable. Tours. Nitro infused coffee as well. Baristas are very particular, and the coffee we ordered was handcrafted perfectly. Definitely will be coming next time we travel through town.

Yelp
Terrible customer service and their app doesn't work. The jerk of a server was so bad that it prompted me to write a letter of complain to the company.

Danielle M.

Yelp
I've been to a bunch of coffee shops in Kansas City and they've all been amazing. This is the first less than stellar experience I've had. Staff weren't friendly, unlike all the other places I've been. I asked for extra cream but my coffee was super dark, barely any cream at all. Just unimpressive.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Roasterie lattes are always my very favorite. I just had a white peppermint mocha today and it was perfection. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough. The baristas are always really nice.

Ashley S.

Yelp
We had a great time on The Roasterie Tour! We got to try lots of different kinds and learn all about the roasting process. Tour during the week to actually see coffee being roasted. Bronwyn was an excellent tour guide and made it really fun! We learned a lot and I enjoyed our coffee afterwards.

Debby B.

Yelp
Very friendly. Drinks are great. They have quite few to choose from. You can tour the building (reservation on website are required). Food is very good too.

David L.

Yelp
If you are looking to grab a coffee in the SouthWest Blvd area this is one of my favorite places to go. You can't miss it just drive to the airplane on the roof. The different flavors of coffee are very well put together. if you get a chance to check out the tour it recommend its very cool to learn about where the coffee comes from and how it's made.

Jean T.

Yelp
Loved visiting this place. I stopped in to warm up after visiting one of the local museums and ordered one of the special coffees. The barista working at the time was super friendly and helped me select a drink that wasn't too sweet. My drink ended up being very delicious and a perfect option for someone who likes specialty coffees with a mild sweetness. This is a large coffee spot with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the space. I would've liked to have checked out their factory side but it appeared closed at the time i stoped by. Would definitely visit this place again.

Julissa M.

Yelp
Best coffee we ever had, amazing costumer service, fast service, my coffee tasted great, and the place was super clean. Love it!

Rachel H.

Yelp
** walk-through experience review only** We didn't have time to book a full tour, but Jacob spent quite a few minutes with us, explaining their cupping room, a lot of their industrial processes, where, and how they source their beans, the expansion of their business, and more. We really appreciated the time he gave us! They're cutting room is really cool - it's where all the quality control is done for every single roast they do. They take three samples from each roast, weigh them out, brew them in the same way, and taste each sample to make sure there's not a bad been in the lot! Roasting coffee is not one of my hobbies, but I can appreciate a well, roasted brew as a consumer! We are very lucky and Kansas City to have the Roasterie right here in our backyard!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Was in Kansas City for work and some friends took me to The Roasterie Cafe! I loved this cafe and my drink! Going in, the giant airplane with the sign caught my attention; I'm always flying for work so it was a fun surprise to go to an aviation themed cafe! The interior is so spacious! I love that there's so much seating! I wasn't able to check out the tour but I would love to do that sometime soon! I like the unique drinks and lattes on the menu! I got the Crunched for Time (White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Latte) and it was delicious!!! Will definitely be back when I can!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Who knew The Roasterie had a $5 tour with tasting? Great use of an hour! We learned all about the coffee cherry seed farming to the KC in-house roasting process. We got to sample some medium and dark roast along with the cold brew from the tap. We came in December, quite a busy time for a coffee spot, so it was noisy and we couldn't hear our tour guide the whole time BUT I would absolutely recommend this tour to friends and family!

Karim J.

Yelp
My good friend who I visited in Kansas City told me we needed to come to KC's famous Roasterie. This coffee shop prides itself in aviation, which is abundantly clear in the decor. It also doubles as their factory where they process the beans for distribution. For a place that serves coffee it's very elegant and spacious. The coffee is also very good and lives up to the hype. Definitely a must try when you come to this city.

Andrew S.

Yelp
This is a neat place to visit in downtown Kansas City near the Marriott Hotel. Others were remarking about the building design while I was more interested in getting a hot cup of local brewed coffee before the next meeting sessions. The wind was blowing, and being outside created the need to get coffee from a local provider. Service was good, quick, and price were reasonable.

Chris F.

Yelp
Nice place to visit to grab a great cup of coffee that hands down beats all others in the Kansas City area. The tour they offer is amazing as they go through their unique method of air roasting their coffee versus the traditional tumbler method and we were lucky enough that they had a batch going during the tour. It was crazy to see how the coffee beans were tumbling in the air inside the machine almost like how the money-grab machine is with people. I had no idea that this method was a thing prior to this and the benefits that it gives the coffee are noticeable in the taste.

Tes H.

Yelp
If you are looking for a quality brew, this is your place. This is one of my favorite coffee shops to come and work outside on the patio because it is located in a relatively quiet neighborhood. You can expect to pay around 6 to 7 dollars for a latte, which is pretty on par for most coffee shops. Their food menu is not extensive, and personally it reminds me of overprice airport food (it's even presented in a case like airport food)... So I would not recommend eating here (I've had at least 3 menu items and the blueberry muffin is all I can say I really was wowed by). however, they are lack of a good menu is far out shadowed by the quality of coffee they put out. I am continually impressed by how kind the staff is each time I order as well. Highly recommend coming and checking out this Roastery, doing the tour, and checking out the cool coffee merchandise they have in store!

Cindy H.

Yelp
If you're going to sell 'blueberry muffins' At least put more than one blueberry in the muffins. What a joke and a waste of money! Never again!

Kris P.

Yelp
I love this place. I love the ambience. It is perfect for grabbing a quick coffee or sticking around. There is a little store attached too with all your coffee needs. Service was excellent! We will be back.

Anna R.

Yelp
Cute coffee cafe and factory! The cafe is spacious and the staff is friendly! We had ordered a couple coffees and must've misheard us when we recieved the wrong one, offered to make us a new one right away! The exterior draws your attention with the airplane on the roof! It's a one of a kind place I will say I think there were some stuff at the bottom of my cup I ended up drinking, but overall the drink was great.

Meghan Z.

Yelp
I love this place. They have lots of different locations. The coffee is always on point. The customer service is amazing and the airplanes and seating make it fun. Nice place to sit and have a cup coffee or when you just stuck away from your desk and get a cup of coffee from someone with a smile.

Blair J.

Yelp
The Roasterie Cafe is a spacious, airy cafe, alongside a gift shop, adjoining their roasting facility. I'm a long time KC resident and I finally paid this place a visit. I went on a late afternoon to finish out a workday. There was only 1 other patron in the cafe, so as a person who appreciates a bustling atmosphere, it felt a little lonely. With the absence of people, it felt a bit like a cafeteria rather than a cozy cafe. Perhaps because of the high ceilings and somewhat simple decor. Given the lateness of the day, I opted for a smoothie over a coffee, so I can't comment on the quality of their brew, but the smoothie was great. I really like the location, and there is ample parking - a rarity for some of the other downtown coffee shops, making it an easy choice on a busy day. I will likely try the Roasterie again, but I can't say that it is calling my name. I'll keep my mind open for next time.

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
Delicious KC staple! The Roasterie has fun new flavors every season. Perfect spot to meet friends or bring your laptop to get work done. I just love all the natural light from their big windows!

C E.

Yelp
At first, I liked this place. But social values have changed and BASIC courtesies have been lost. The barista acted as if I were an annoyance. The heavy sighs, the lack of eye contact, and the total apathy. I liked your coffee over the big chain... but you gave me warm milk this time. So customers bother you? Well, I've got some good news for you, Sunshine! I won't be back

Grace T.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere in here and the service was great. My drink was good but the price is kinda high. I think it's kind of a situation of paying for the experience, so I didn't mind. Overall i recommend:)

Susan P.

Yelp
I love this space, whether I pop in for a quick to go coffee or stay and do some work. The service is almost always spot on.

Shelby G.

Yelp
The best coffee in KCMO, hands down. At this location, they have a cafe, drive thru, and pick up for online orders. Take a tour of the factory while you're here. The place is just plain cool with a plane overhead, you can't miss it. There's parking in the front, behind the building, and in a lot across the street. Don't forget to grab a pastry to go with your coffee.

Marquisha R.

Yelp
This is a beautifully crafted space. I absolutely love the aesthetic and branding... chef's kiss! The service exceeded my expectations and the staff is knowledgeable and so kind! Along with the matcha recommendation which was delicious, I purchased a set of coasters that are super cute. And I may have forgotten to mention previously, the entire establishment including the restroom, is CLEAN, which I love the most.

Ella D.

Yelp
Coffee was delicious and the setting was super cool. They also offer tours which is super neat as well. Would definitely recommend. It was fairly busy and still got my coffee quickly, they have many different flavors along with your basic coffee.

Becca L.

Yelp
This was such a fun tour to do. We learned about the making of coffee and k cups as well as sampling multiple cups of coffee and cold brew. Everything was good but the cold brew with raspberry tea is delish!

Linda O.

Yelp
I was looking to put together a KC gift basket for a friend and it was recommended to get some Roasterie Coffee. We drove down to the location and we're blown away by the cool plane perched on top. Lured in by the smell of coffee it was surprisingly busy late afternoon. The merchandise shop had a nice variety of items. Of course in a BBQ town you'd find a coffee rub and sauce! We learned they offer tours and we will be back.

Azile Y.

Yelp
Terrific staff, and an impressively delicious chorizo breakfast burrito! Their seasonal drinks are very fun. I enjoyed listening to the Lofi Chillhop mix while I got some work done on my laptop. I love the big windows!

Amanda Ramos H.

Yelp
Great coffee, great vibe, and great merch. Just what 2 visitors needed on a beautiful sunny April day - patio was perfect!

Jenna M.

Yelp
Super super cool spot! Must go to when in town!! There is a giant airplane outside first of all!! The coffee and atmosphere is way cool. We tried a couple breakfast items and they were all so yummy! I wish the tours were going on when we were there but we'll just have to come back!!

Randy S.

Yelp
Visited the Southwest Blvd location. Love the airplane and squid painting. Great place to hangout and enjoy my cup of coffee. Employees are friendly and informative. The latte was great. Will be coming back.

Henry T.

Yelp
I should preface this review by saying that I'm not a regular coffee drinker. But I was curious when it said that it air roasts its coffee. I had never heard of that technique before, and my friends were taking me on the tour anyway so I just went along with it. Our tour guide seemed pretty knowledgeable about the coffee they make, but since I don't drink coffee all that often, most of the information he espoused went right over my head. Checking out the machines that air roast the coffee beans was interesting though. I tried two of the sample coffee roasts provided on the tour. The first one, apparently a medium roast, tasted very bitter. So bitter I really thought it was the dark roast blend. The second one had a less harsh after taste. It was more fruity than anything else. But apparently that was the dark roast.

Linda E.

Yelp
We love coffee, and this has become our favorite coffee! We did a tour and the guide was very informative. He answered any question we threw at him. It's a really cool atmosphere at this place, especially if you have an aviation background or just love airplanes.

Cristina H.

Yelp
This coffee shop is great! It has a really cool atmosphere! And the coffee was really good.

Michael F.

Yelp
Wonderful coffee house that roasts and brews a great cup of coffee. They have a nice selection of pastries and breakfast treats as well. The plane on top caight our eye. It looks like a DC10. They offer a little gift shop and tours of the roasting house.

Leslie A.

Yelp
This was my first visit to the mothership but I had enjoyed their coffee at their other locations. It was great to come here and see where all the magic happens! The area seems a little questionable but there is ample street parking as well as a parking lot across from the physical building. Once inside there is a real café with drinks and food options as well as a shop to purchase everything from beans to coffee supplies to cups and anything that has their brand name on it. There are also tours that occur so please check the schedule for that and you can see through the glass the actual beans roasting and entire process. There are several places to sit as well and it looks kid friendly as well as group friendly. I enjoy their coffee as something authentically local and done well!

Regina S.

Yelp
The Roasterie became my work spot this summer. Given that there's always the same amount of cars outside, how busy the place is can be a hit or miss. For the most part, I've gotten lucky and always been able to snag a table. Along with the chill environment, there's outlets all along the back tables, which is super helpful. Yelp's description says not good for working, but I would argue the opposite. My favorite drinks are Malibu Matcha and Sweet Mocha Madness (not that I've tried anything else). Super cool baristas. Great decoration & vibe. Oh and the tour is very cool & informative too. Love the place.

Faria M.

Yelp
First time at this location of the Roasterie. Working at KU Med, there are Roasterie coffee shops all over the hospital as well as the the cafeteria. Safe to say I was used to their coffee. What I really like about going to the storefront is the aesthetics. There is a big plane replica out front, which was iconic. The coffee shop is also huge with ample seating as well as a mini "storefront" where you can buy bagged coffee, coffee makers, supplies etc. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the specialty coffee drinks are pretty pricey and it took the baristas forever to fill my order (there was 3 people working and it still took ~10-15min on not that busy if a day). I'm a sucker for matcha drinks and the "Malibu Matcha" I got was scrumptious (not too sweet with the perfect amount of coconut flavor)

Claire P.

Yelp
I bought a bag of coffee here and had a great experience. The clerk was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in giving me advice for picking out the perfect bag of coffee. It tasted just as good as it smelled!

Sara S.

Yelp
I took the tour and tried the brewed coffee, cold coffee, and the turmeric latte. It was all great! Excellent value for the tour, and the staff is all knowledgeable, talented, and kind. I'd recommend this experience to anyone and everyone!

Daniel H.

Yelp
This place is something else. If you love Starbucks, then don't go to The Roasterie because then you will not like Starbucks anymore. Their coffee is my favorite and never disappoints. Stop by and have a Honeycomb breve with and extra shot of espresso, a blueberry muffin and stay for a tour of the Roasterie. They roast their own beans there so you know the coffee is fresh dressed like a million bucks.

Kristyn M.

Yelp
You can't miss it. A full sized airplane a top the building! We missed the morning coffee tour but got to order a drink and sit and watch the assembly line at work. A unique room called the cupping room. Here is where they sample the coffees. You can come back for cupping classes. Come as catch a tour cause they look interesting. There is a lot of coffee going through that place. There is a nice seating area, gift shop, bakery, and ordering station. All this you can see pretty much as you walk in the door. The lay out is open and easy to navigate. Free Wifi. We were killing time. I got the mocha that is a regular on the menu. Hubby got the pumpkin spice latte. We relaxed and watched the conveyor belt seal bags of coffee for awhile. You can't miss the location, coffee check them out.

Jessica B.

Yelp
I love this place. The Roasterie is great any way, but this spot is bright, spacious, cool, and gives great tours. Today, I'm trying their homemade pumpkin spice latte. It's subtle (not sticky sweet) and satisfying. Also delicious: Brookside Bob or the Midas. Cheers!

Hannah G.

Yelp
This is a go to place for visitors of KC! They have the inside open as of now and I read they have self guided tours going of the factory. They have outdoor tables as well and a big parking lot they recently built directly across the street from the entrance. We like coming simply for a change of pace from most coffee shops. It's cool to look around at everything, see where the coffee is actually produced, and look at all of their flavors and selections. The coffee is also really great! I will say they make their speciality drinks pretty sweet so I stick with a standard vanilla latte when I come here!

Fox E.

Yelp
If they hung people here rather than people hanging here, it'd be the Roperie. If they washed people here, it'd be the Soaperie. And if Trump and Affleck hung out here, it'd be the Groperie. The coolest thing about this place is the massive airplane outside. But it is a really great coffee shop, and the locals absolutely adore it. I can see why. It's definitely my go to coffee shop when I'm in town.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Iced latte and pastries are all really good. Plus They have a giant plane outside how can you not stop here?!

Suzy W.

Yelp
This was a fun tour of the roasting process! I learned a lot, and now I know not to order Dark roast! I learned that coffee tasting is like wine! While I can't say their coffee blew me away, it was a good cup of coffee. Have you seen the move Exit through the Gift Shop? They know they have you exiting through the gift shop. $40 later....
