The Queensboro in Jackson Heights serves up rustic-chic comfort dishes like fluffy pancakes and artisan pizzas in a cozy, family-friendly setting.
"The Queensboro doesn’t have a motto, but if it did, it would be something like: “Salad and chicken? We’ve got that.” This Jackson Heights spot serves pizza, pasta, and vegetable sides, as well as some entrees like steak and a burger. Thrilling? Not so much. Useful? Very. As an added bonus, the big space has potted plants and leather booths. Try this spot for brunch, when there will most likely be a ton of babies running around, so no one will hear you and your family fighting over the dessert order." - bryan kim, neha talreja, hannah albertine, carlo mantuano

"Open since 2018, this attempt to create the type of New American bistro common in Brooklyn and Manhattan has been met with neighborhood success. A flaming oven turns out thin-crust pizzas of an unusual sort (one comes with speck and cantaloupe). It also turns out a garlic bread covered with minced clams and grated cheese. Other dishes include a cheeseburger done to order with good fries, as well as a crème brulee scented with Earl Grey tea. The high-ceilinged dining room is a maze of small tables and big booths." - Robert Sietsema

"I pick up takeout from the Queensboro for dinner — two orders of Chinese-style steamed flounder with tamari, ginger, and scallion oil, served with little containers of white rice and garnished with superthin spears of asparagus, and peas. It’s just a perfect dish, and generous portions, of which I put some back in the fridge, and add some pressed tofu to the leftover sauce, to marinate overnight."
