"The Buttery, Northern Suburbs by Zebra. Anyone that says there are no great cafes north of Sorrento should head to The Buttery in Joondalup. It’s a family owned business and it’s probably our favourite little spot in this part of the world. Friendly, attentive service, a peaceful ambience and the best breakfast we’ve tasted around these parts. We can’t get enough of the homemade hash browns, made from crispy yet soft, grated potato. We’ve tried quite a few things on the menu and if you’re really hungry then go for the Bushman’s breakfast. Their muesli is also a must try. The Buttery is well worth making the trip north and we will be back very soon."

Really good! We had the French toast with bacon, maple syrup and fresh fruit and the Classic Breakfast with perfect poached eggs and bacon. Would definitely make the trip again.

Fantastic takeaway coffee and ham and cheese croissant. I will definitely be making this spot a regular and can not wait to go there for a sit down breakfast as the menu looked quite appealing. Super friendly staff and quick service.

I think this is now under a new name (Brew Co?); but either way, their coffee was lovely, their vibe was nice and the baristas were friendly. They spent time helping me pick the right soy milk for my needs. The little biscuits with the coffee was a nice touch. My son loved the hot chocolate he bought.

Yet another cafe to fall from grace. Has ownership changed? Has the chef changed since inception? Gone are the lovely, scrumptious breakfast meals. I had a twinnings tea bag placed in a tea pot. Which self respecting cafe cuts cost this badly? Eggs were bland, toast was soggy and the breakfast order was wrong. Shame really. Buttery cafe used to be a local favourite. It’s disappointing when management doesn’t make the effort to main the legacy of its predecessors.

A lovely and quaint cafe, it's a bit fancier than most places and has the prices to match but the food is amazing and the staff are friendly

Yelp
I thought I'd update my previous review....because I can't believe how consistently good the food and service is. I had lunch today- a simple turkish chicken and avocado toastie and it was fantastic. Bought a slice of carrot cake for later and had to try a bit now and as with everything else I've had from the Buttery, absolutely wonderful. The staff are absolutely lovely too. I work above the cafe one day each month and I always look forward to treating myself at lunch! 27/05/2018 I've eaten at the Buttery a few times and haven't been disappointed yet. Today I decided to try the Forrestier (spelling?) omelette and it was just incredible. An omelette filled with mushrooms, feta, pesto and bacon with a side salad and toast...and it was all so good. The service is always friendly and attentive and the coffee was excellent too. Just an overall nice place to treat yourself with wonderful food.

Yelp
On their first week open I came here quite a few times for their coffee. It was so amazingly smooth. I don't know what happened. I have had 2 bad coffees from here now which seemed burnt or bitter so I get the chai latte when we do the coffee run at work. Everyone at work raves about it so I might give it another go but the chai is good too. The cakes and slices looking amazing. With a name like 'buttery' I can't imagine they would be too healthy so I'll just keep looking at them for now. The homewares store attached is run by the mum (the daughter and son run the cafe) and it has some quirky trinkets and nice gifts. I've bought a few from there. They sell the glass house candle range so that's a plus for me. She always has time for a chat too while you're waiting for you're coffee.

Yelp
It's nice to have a good breakfast option in the Joondalup area. We stumbled across The Buttery after reading another positive review and weren't disappointed. Really friendly service and a point of difference is the complimentary toast with whipped butter and jam they bring out while you wait for your meal. Both times I've been I've had the banana bacon French toast which is what it sounds like served with maple syrup, pistachios and fruit garnish. Delicious! That costs $17.80, which is about standard, while bacon and eggs with a hash brown is about $15. The adjoining homewares store is nice too!

Yelp
Friendly service and yummy food. Lots of gluten-free cakes/ biscuits for those who need it. Nice alfresco area and even has a small craft/ gift shop. Frequented by hospital staff and office workers during the week, residents during the weekend.

Yelp
The Buttery is fresh and modern, at the bottom of an office building on Shenton Ave - just near to Joondalup hospital. I think the lovely café has given the hospital workers a great alternative to canteen food - as they were walking across the street in droves. There is a covered alfresco area. Inside there are exposed bricks and pretty floral upholstery, the mod fit out gives The Buttery a feel of a café near Perth's Inner suburbs. I loved it. Before ordering I also had a wander around the homeware section. There are some lovely gits for all occasions. I made a mental note they stock the Glasshouse Candle range, as I love those! On the counter were some delicious looking cakes. In the chillier cabinet were lots of fresh looking wraps, croissants and other fresh food to take away. I decided to have my regular Chai Latte along with a special off the blackboard - the Italian Omelette ($15.50). The omelette was perfect. It was filled with mushroom, salami, ham and tomato. It also came with a well sized potato rosti and side salad. The rosti was buttery and just a little crispy. I loved it. Since the rosti wasn't mentioned on the board I felt like I'd got a little bonus. It was a good sized meal, super fresh and great value for money. I utterly adored The Buttery café. It is a fabulous spot for breakfast (all day), coffee and cake, brunch and lunch.

Yelp
First time and loved it. Coffee was a little strong for me, but perfect for partner. Breakfast I had vegetable stack. Omg the herb fetta was beautiful! I really enjoyed the food. Partner had the French toast served with bacon and banana. I had massive food envy as it was beautifully presented and tasted glorious with the maple syrup. Everything was served and presented wonderfully. A really nice breakfast all around.

Yelp
Not only is The Buttery a cafe, it also sells homeware pieces, pieces you can mix and match, it was interesting to browse through. The menu was great! The first thing I thought when I saw it was, homely. The Bushman's Breakfast looked like something your Nana would rustle up to fill you up for the day. Ms. D decided on poached eggs for her dish and they were perfectly oozy. There was a hash brown on the dish also and it was delicious! There were generous serves of everything on this dish and Ms. D was barely able to finish it. Next to arrive were the Salmon Benedict's. Another delicious dish. Oh my, it was perfect! The potato rosti was fabulous, rather than mashed potato, it was shredded potato and I loved the hint seasoning as it didn't change the flavour of the rosti too much. The rosti was definitely the hero of the dish for me...as if you couldn't tell! My eggs were also perfectly cooked and the salmon was fresh and plentiful.

Yelp
Love the food and have been here more than once but the service needs to improve. Greet customers when they come in, smile, eye contact just the basics I expect when going out for a meal

Yelp
Such a fresh idea for joondalup! I have been here for a few coffees but went for breakfast this time and was not disappointed. They were extremely busy and when we walked in it was chaos but we found a table and once we ordered everything was smooth! The coffees were fab made with love! And the breakfast was well worth the money, I wish joondalup had a whole cafe strip of different places.

Yelp
When i saw The Buttery in Joondalup i was skeptical...Joondalup Isn't exactly known for gourmet cafes....However i follow the 'Breakfast in Perth" instagram and some breakfast posts looked amazzzzing! Me and my boyfriend went this week and it was...ok. I didn't love it and i didn't hate it. The staff were a little odd if I'm being honest, not overly friendly. Also no one greeted us as we walked in, i think it's a pretty important and easy thing to do however they were all pretty socially awkward so we'll just leave it at that. I got the Muesli.... un-toasted muesli with berry compote and milk..not amazing and not horrible just average. I could make it at home. My boyfriend got the French Toast which had a little more "wow factor" ...Thick pieces of french toast topped with bacon, maple syrup and rock-melon...he liked it but it got a little sickly. The coffee was...da da ddummmm...BURNT! wow! It's also Vittoria and i don't mean to sound like a coffee snob (well maybe i am but there's worse things to be in life!) Anyway it's definitely not my PREFERRED coffee choice. All in all it was an ok place with pleasant enough food however i won't be going back.

Yelp
Sensational... I have very high cafe standards and after 20 years experiencing the high quality cafes of inner city Sydney and surrounding fringes, I have been bitterly disappointed with very bad Perth northern suburb cafes. Time after time I get charged through the nose for "off the shelf" bread, overheated, over-extracted coffee & a plethora of other culinary disappointments. Not so at Butterys - these guys are THE place to go from Joondalup onwards when heading North up the coast. Superb coffee and original, inspiring and WELL PRICED food. They are a slick outfit and have restored my faith in the Perth cafe scene. 10/10

Yelp
Called in for coffee and a cake with my 3 yr old Grandson ... decided on a muffin .. was asked if I wanted it heated and said no due to it possibly burning my grandsons mouth as microwaves don't heat evenly .... was expecting a nice moist muffin instead got a Rock hard bun .. Managed to eat some from the very middle .. On way out just commented to young girl staff member at till that it was hard and she apologised and asked me if I wanted a refund and I said no thanks I just wanted to make them aware .. At that point an older gentleman I think was the manager came over and tried to argue with me saying he told me to have it heated and it was hard from being in the fridge and wouldn't have been hard if had it heated .. I explained I didn't want it heated but it should still be moist inside not rock hard .. I just walked away saying I wouldn't come back and the Manager kept on arguing and shouting insults as I walked away .. very immature and rude .. I will never go back !! Yelp
Went to get a takeaway coffee while at the hospital. Had heard it was a good cafe. Unfortunately didn't get to try as waited at counter by sign 'order here' and were ignored by two staff. Another two just walked by ignoring us. No 'hello', no 'won't be a minute' and definitely no smile so we left without coffee! Shame but won't be back as part of the cafe experience is the service!

Yelp
Agree with the other positive reviews here. Especially impressed with the menu. Had an ultrasound nearby then popped here for a refreshment and had to order food and wasn't disappointed. Could do with better layout for seating but food made up for it. Toilets good too.

Yelp
A great place for a meal or just a cup if coffee and so close to work for me ... always great for a morning cuppa!!!

Yelp
The mark of a good business is the quality of its goods, but most importantly the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. I have eaten at the Buttery cafe many times and have not been disappointed. I have shopped at the Buttery gift shop a few times. My most recent experience was extremely disappointing to say the least The attitude and abruptness of the manager was unbelievable. I called by phone to ask if I could return an unused item purchased for a child, only later to discover it was a girl item instead of baby boy. The manager barely let me finish what I had to say before she burst straight out into " No you cannot exchange" and hung up the phone with no goodbye or anything. I stood holding the phone buzzing in my ear in complete disbelief. She offered no alternative solution, no empathy and most certainly no integrity. What sort of behaviour is this for a small business. The Buttery will never have the honour of my business again or that of my family and friends. I strongly recommend choosing a customer friendly retailer to purchase gifts from.
