Yelp
I've been to other vegan restaurants by Chef Vaknin in the city... so I wasn't surprised by how flavorful and stunning all the food was here... but I was still thoroughly impressed!! This is fully vegan so when you check the website or menu, don't be thrown off when you see meat words thrown around - it is still all truly vegan!
It's an interesting concept and menu as it offers dishes of various cuisines (ex: they Korean BBQ chicken, lamb tagine, pastrami sliders, sushi, and tacos all on the menu).
Our favorite dishes that impressed us was the
- eggplant unagi (typically eel on sushi rice). One could say yeah it's smothered in teriyaki sauce, but flavor aside, the texture imitated unagi so well too!!
- whipped ricotta brioche - how was this so tasty??? it comes with two toasts, but we were yearning for more once it was done. It was topped with so many flavorful ingredients, including "caviar" and "tuna" (when I asked the staff, they let us know it was made with tapioca). Seriously how did they do that?!?! it tasted like the real thing! Even the ricotta... it is made of cashew, but you could have tricked me!
The mains were also excellent, although it's easier to tell this is faux meat; but still so close to the real thing in terms of texture and flavor (short ribs and lamb tagine).
If you are to get anything here: you MUST try the cocktails, the appetizers/small bites/noshes, and desserts. SO SO good, whether you're vegan or not. And if you or a friend/family member IS vegan, you MUST take them here. It's so refreshing to go to a vegan restaurant where dishes are up to par with its non-vegan counterpart, and Reverie does that so well.
