"Hong Kong is well known for its "cha chaan teng" style cafes that serve quick meals and "tea time" snacks. The new-school, creative face of Wanchai mixes with the old in the form of this lovely, but very no frills neighbourhood cha chaan teng. Over lunch hour diners fill the street on plastic tables enjoying classic local comfort food and above average milk tea. While Tak Yu is more expensive than most other cha chaan tengs, it is one of the few restaurants on Hong Kong Island that still has a food stall license. Weekday lunch hour (1–2PM for most office workers) gets pretty busy, so aim for off-peak hour visit, especially in hot weather." - Isabel Foo

Good lunch at Tak yuk. We ordered the beef satay sandwich on toast, the beef noodles, beef curry on rice and a French toast. Everything came out fairly quickly, and tasted very good. Kind and helpful service, quick and clean as well. Would recommend it if you're in the area!

Hair in our food, some curly, some short. Was told it was from the cow and they apologised… regardless, my partner lost her appetite, as I was extremely hungry I finished the meal around it. I got really sick after. Be warned, cheap eat or not, this is not okay.

Didn't plan to go here initially, but it turns out that it's just a stone throw away from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, so I came after attending morning Mass. Since it was breakfast time, the suggested menu, which is the 'home-style' fried rice, is not available yet. I ordered the spam & egg macaroni & a hot milk tea. The tea was great, thick & hot. Macaroni was great, too. The spam slice was huge. It's better with chilli, though. Then I decided that I needed condensed milk toast & and boy, was that the right decision! Bread was toasted nice & crispy, butter slices were thick & a glop of condensed milk on top! Finger-licking-good! They have an English menu & and the special of the day is scribbled on the wall in Chinese. The restaurant is air conditioned, and the location is great. The surroundings look quite hip but not very crowded.

If you want a HK style milk tea in the Admiralty/ Wan Chai area, this is the place. You can walk here from the PP3 exit of Admiralty MTR station. We ordered: 1) Mix of Coffee and Tea. Their tea was really smooth and they still used the old method - stocking. 2) Corned Beef and Egg Sandwiches. They suggested to toast the bread and the amount of egg was generous. 3) French Toast It was crispy with a great amount of peanut butter filling! We loved PB! 4) Fermented Tofu Chicken Wings noodle soup. Chicken wings were quite flavourful but not salty. Soup was a bit plain but it was not bad to match with the flavourful wings. The green was a pleasant surprise. We arrived close to the end of the lunch rush hour, so it was not difficult to find a table. However, daily specials on the lunch menu were sold out.

Traditional Hong Kong cafe for more than 65 years, with good style of old sign board and furniture. Set lunch is fresh and delicious too, at attractive price.

Came here on a late Friday afternoon and tried their signature Indonesian fried rice and it was sooOOooOO good. You can taste each grain of rice, flavourful, just right amount of salt/seasoning and fresh off the wok. It was $68 at the time of review and unlike other HK cafes, this one did not come with a drink because its not a lunch special. PS you can pickup a coffee next door at Blue bottle!

A really traditional Cha Chaan Teng. Their star is the milk tea, when it is hot you can taste the smooth and silky flavor better. It is hot and humid so we opted for the iced version. Cha Chaan Teng food is what it is, the eggs were superb though. I love to bring out of town guests here for a HK breakfast and ambiance.

If you want to try some local and historic cafe, often visited by celebrities and bumped into shooting film at/near this cafe, you've come to the right place. This cafe is well known to be situated in Star Street 星街 where a lot of celebrities stop by for food. My sister brought me here on our first meal in HK to experience the vibe of old Cafe tuck behind luxurious condos. The milk tea was so sensational and authentic. My favourite satay noodle was very good too but portion is slightly smaller than many cafes and the price is a bit experience due to the location which I can understand. If I go back hk I surely will go again not because of the food but the surrounding residential and the neighbourhood vibe that I always miss about hk
