Tacofino Commissary

Bright restaurant with a fun layout. Delicious menu. Visited recently for a quick drink and snack at the bar - very tasty, thanks for having us!

I used to order from Tacofino regularly and have always loved everything I’ve tried. Tonight we ordered for the first time in a while and unfortunately we were super disappointed in the taste and quality of food. The crispy chicken burrito is usually my go to but tonight it tasted different and not like how I remember it to be. Everything from the chicken (cold, not crispy at all, coating was bland), the rice (doesn’t seem spiced), the sauces (not the same) to even the tortilla, was not how I remember it to taste. I don’t think I’ll be returning to Tacofino anytime soon :(

I ordered the Crispy Chicken Burrito, but unfortunately, the chicken was cold, dry, and not crispy at all. It felt like it had been cooked hours ago and left sitting for too long. The overall taste was stale and soggy, which was disappointing. As the menu advertises "Crispy" Chicken, I expected it to be hot—or at the very least warm and properly crispy. This experience did not meet my expectations. I felt nauseous after eating the burrito. As many others have noted in their reviews, the quality of this restaurant has declined significantly. It’s simply not worth visiting anymore.

Reading the other reviews I totally agree. The Quality is terrible, what happened with the flavours? Of course the prices keep going up and up. Totally unsatisfied with my order. Why are the burritos getting smaller each time? If I pay more for my burrito, I expect it to be better quality and good size instead of getting it smaller each time and filled with Cabbage only. Sad.

I’ve been coming here for many years, but in the past year+ it’s become so inconsistent on top of price increases that I won’t be returning any more. Today, I had a Pacific Cod burrito which is supposed to include tempura battered cod. The batter tasted like corn meal and oil, and there was almost no fish in it. I am honestly confused about the person who made this and thought it was fine to send out. The two stars are because the service is fine and the store itself is very nice. Also the loaded tots are (usually) great.

The space was cold and smelled of diesel fumes from the street. The happy hour stadium nachos was served cold and got soggy quickly The ginger beer was not ginger beer -it was a mocktail with juices etc. The cashier asked me how it was when I had finished leaving the half the nachos uneaten and when I told him the nachos were served cold, he responded rudely and said, well yes only the cheese is hot. I repeated, it was served cold, to which he said, well did you say something? I ended it with, you asked how it was so I'm telling you. If you don't want an honest answer or ultimately not actually care about the quality of food, don't ask.

I have been picking up at this location for a few years now, and I picked up again today for takeout I've never dined in but I can only imagine how that would be considering just the service of me taking out, is horrendous. No matter who the staff have been it's always uninviting. The staff are not very personable, they don't seem to have skills actually interacting with people. I don't know how they got their job but they really shouldn't be in front of house. No matter when I come here or who I've had it's always just cold, there's no smiles there's nothing friendly or inviting about them, it makes you want to turn around and leave. This location the people here they are unfriendly their tone and personality is just like a cold wet mop as for the atmosphere it kind of gets destroyed because of the staff. So this is the last time I'm coming here I'm either going to order delivery or go somewhere else there's a lot better places people actually enjoy working. If you guys don't like being in front of house and find another job because this is not cool.

Nice place, good vibe, but the taco for me was sort of oily and I felt not really ok having it. But the reason I am adding a comment is to warn you about the dessert! If you do not like egg taste and smell, the lime curd vase is not for you! I wish I knew it before trying that, had a terrible taste for all night after having just one spoon of it :)
