"Part of the redevelopment around the former Carlsberg Brewery, this is a spacious, stylish restaurant featuring a mirrored wall decorated with an impressive wave mural. An open kitchen lets you observe the chefs as they deliver a 13 course menu. Humble ingredients like the potato underpin original, creative dishes that show both the kitchen team’s ambition and their sustainable philosophy." - Michelin Inspector

"One of Three Restaurants in the Standard Situated in the old Copenhagen customs house overlooking the water, Studio has been awarded a Michelin star and focuses on a fusion of Nordic and international flavors prepared in an open kitchen with a fine-dining focus. With an all-star staff, the focus is on service, flavor, and a rich experience with a heavy dose of creativity, with offerings like squid with gooseberries and kaffir lime, razor clam with nasturtium and horseradish, and sweetbread with onion and tamarind. The concept behind the Standard is compelling. It is home to three different fine-dining restaurants including Studio, which occupy the building while also having access to and working closely with the Standard's Jazzclub. Their goal is to create a robust and vibrant atmosphere. Photo: The Standard"

I have eaten one of the most memorable dishes I ever had here… the oysters, parsley, cabbage and mussels created a literal taste of sea. As someone who grow up on the Mediterranean Sea, it was like tasting a childhood. Still think about it. Each food serving was an experience on its own, from presentation to taste, and absolutely amazing. The staff is exceptional, attentive and accommodating. Loved the quiet and space you have, as it adds another layer to the great experience. Definitely a place to keep eye on!

This is world class. Every meal was exceptional in both detail, taste and texture. It’s a phenomenal experience with a team and wine flight to match!

We had a great experience at Stud!o restaurant. The food, service and overall ambiance were beyond comparison. Without a doubt this is one of the best fine-dining restaurants we have ever been. Stud!o staff continue this way, the Michelin star will arrive soon!

I think you’re for dinner, and I had a nine course tasting menu. They do not offer any other options, so you can order all a cart. The nine course tasting menu is very filling. Would definitely recommend having a later lunch if you’re going to have this for dinner. The food is great, and the staff is so friendly and professional. I sat at the kitchen counter so I could watch the chefs cook and prepare food and it was like watching a performance. The dinner lasts around 2-3 hours so it’s an all-night affair. Even though it’s pricey I think it’s worthwhile if even for the experience. My favorite was the smoked herring and also the cheese tart.

Google
Incredible fine dining experience, we were surprised the restaurant doesn’t have a Michelin star as yet. The food is complex and well thought through, the staff friendly and they will love to explain you the origin of the ingredients and the ideas behind. Wine pairing is amazing and you’ll be happy about everything. It’s a bit on the pricey side

Google
A very good experience! Got lucky enough to eat here with 50% discount due to COVID-19, making the experience even better. Either way, the food was amazing and very tasteful - especially the chicken liver and the lamb. Even though the non-alcoholic menu was delicious, it was a bit pricy (650kr.) for cold tea and juices; I know it takes a lot of time to make, but next time it’ll be the wine menu!

David Eriksson

Google
I had high expectations but sadly the experience was nowhere close to them. Flavors, textures and overall theme was out of place. Wines and service was good though. Maybe the kitchen had a bad day but I still wouldn’t recommend it within this category of restaurants.

The best meal I have had in Copenhagen. Reasonably well balanced, creative, and good wine pairing. If they keep this up then they'll be in the running for another star.

Yelp
I made the mistake of mapping the restaurant via Yelp, Studio had just relocated. So we got to their old location by foot and found nothing. Dialed the restaurant and found out we were about 3 miles away and CPH only has taxis - so we had to walk back to the city center to hail one. Front of the house was so graceful about the whole ordeal - told us not to worry and to just get their safely. Truly took the burden off us! The food - let it take you on a head to tail journey. Incredibly well thought out food - locally foraged and harvested ingredients. A beautiful bounty of Scandinavian ingredients, manipulated with the utmost precision. Chef presented several of the courses - inspiring to hear the descriptions from the creator himself and he was so authentically engaged when we peppered him with questions. At the end of the night it was a bit challenging getting a taxi back - even Chef got involved in the process. The humility and graciousness, stunning. All memorable and fantastic. Wouldn't change a thing.

Yelp
We ate here in May and we were blown away with the meal, the wine pairing, the attention to detail, and the service. We chose to sit at the bar so we could watch the kitchen staff who were so kind to interact with us and answer questions. Each course was explained and flavors were exquisite and presentation was beautiful. We truly enjoyed this experience there. I must also thank our hosts. We got lost trying to find our way and called already 30 minutes late in a panic and they reassured us and told us to relax. When we arrived they made sure again to reassure us that all was well and that we should relax and enjoy our meal and than suggested we start with a glass of champagne to unwind from our stressful start. Fabulous suggestion! I couldn't tell you what my favorite part was, but that onion sauce- hmmm I would put that on pancakes! Great job Chef.

Yelp
This was the most underwhelming meal in Copenhagen for me. This review is a few weeks late (i visited CPH last month). The location is awesome, the staff are great and friendly. Chef Alan Bates was pretty good in conversation. But, the food just didn't hit the mark. I was there lunch time and ordered 5 course menu (they only have that for lunches, otherwise you can go for more traditional 9 course menu). The trout tart looked beautiful, didn't have much of wow factor in taste though. The pasta dish was good with ton of truffle shavings. The main meat dish was not at all there. I mean it was cooked nice but there was a side of tempura made from pig-brain if i remember correctly, and it was pretty bad!! Not fried well, was chewy and the fried batter coating got badly stuck on my teeth! Dessert was good.

Yelp
Wow, wow, wow. With time for one Michelin-style experience in Copenhagen (but not enough time to snag a reservation at Noma), I did quite a bit of research to determine which would be the right spot. I prioritized a not-insane pricepoint (so Geranium was out of the question) but finding a real, "dinner as theater" experience. Studio certainly delivered. They position the "Stud!o Experience" as a 12-course meal, but the first five were more like snacks so it wasn't too overwhelming. The wine pairing was a glass of champagne and seven glasses of wine, which sounded like a bit much to us so we opted for ordering bottles instead. The bottle pricepoint is on the high side, but with insight from our server, we had enough direction to have great pairings alongside our meal. My mom's favorite was the scallop carpaccio with apple coriander snow, mine was the cheese churro with truffle, and everyone loved the squid preparation. We had some pickier eaters with us, but everyone was so pleased. I'd come back here a hundred times over.

Yelp
This AMAZING culinary experience is among the very best meals of my life. Even three years later I often recall my lovely dinner at this extremely beautiful and hip restaurant. The food is beautiful and carefully prepared. To say that every part of your experience is curated would imply some sort of officious brutality. Nothing could be further from the truth. Everything is chosen for the guest's enjoyment and pleasurable discovery. I enjoyed the seven course tasting menu with wine pairing at the chef's table. Amazingly, I was able to get a seat only an hour before. As a single business traveler in town for only 24 hours I asked my concierge to check on availability. The chefs bar area accommodates only six people. So, they had one seat open if I came out "right now." I was rewarded for my quick action. The wines were delicious and not pretentious. Ironically, they introduced me to an amazing and award-winning sparkling wine from England. [Nyetimber] That has since become a favorite. Importantly, despite the haute cuisine, The service was friendly and warm in every respect. Knowing I was alone the stuff lingered over each dish's explanation and check back often to inquire about my reaction. It was chatty, friendly and convivial. So too, the other guests at the bar were terrific and we all enjoyed each other's company. By the third course we all felt spectacularly lucky to be sharing this very special night. If vacation or business travel brings you to Copenhagen you should absolutely plan to visit this sleek temple of mid century modern architecture. The jazz downstairs and amazing cuisine ensure that this place is going to last.

Yelp
A few friends and I ate at Studio for dinner while we were in Copenhagen, and overall, I think it is a very inventive dinner with an open kitchen concept, but the price was a little bit too high for what we got. Copenhagen is filled with these expensive fine dining restaurants, so Studio is in a special league when it comes to what "value" is - there's basically no value to be had anywhere. There is no menu, just the tasting course that they go through at the beginning briefly. One person had a gluten allergy and they handled that very deftly throughout the meal. There were some great dishes and some dishes with a few technical issues, but the flow of the meal was good. The Dover sole was the best I had ever had. However, the scallop ceviche with pine granita was overshadowed by the huge amount of granita that flooded my pallet. I couldn't really taste the scallop because super cool things dulled my tastebuds. We also used pine in two or three dishes, when it should be limited to just one dish. They also had granita, in different flavors, in multiple dishes. Also, what comes along with sitting near an open kitchen is that you see all the errors, and there was a newer Italian chef who had to keep remaking things - I thought I was watching an episode of Hell's Kitchen. The wine pairing was a solid option, and featured wines from Hungary and other places that I wouldn't have generally chosen myself. I guess that's the point of exploring with the sommelier, and the pairing is absolutely worth it due to all the changes in flavors and textures that wouldn't go with just one specific, single wine. Studio is worth the visit but there are better fine dining establishments charging the same or less.

Yelp
Must eat here! We had a fabulous time all around--food, service, scene. We did the full tasting with wine and each dish was a real hit. A lot of restaurants, with the large tasting menus, it's like you can easily call out which dishes were outstanding and usually it's only a small handful. At Studio, each dish was innovative, surprising, detailed and delicious! 730 seating, They gave us the best seat in the house along the window but still with the full view of the chef and team in the kitchen. It was great to be able watch them for a few hours. I'd like to come back for lunch since the restaurant is a little dark at night, but the Standard is right on the water and a beautiful location. I think in total we had 12 courses, and for an Asian woman, I was starting to get full after 4. So pace yourself! I didn't feel gross at the end but was truly satisfied. My only complaint if I had one is that a Danish celebration usually calls for a flag on the dining table. Although it was my sisters bday, we didn't get a flag or anything particularly special to honor the occasion. And our main server (although it was an entire team serving us the full evening) she seemed a little short and just to the point. She didn't make it feel personal, rather I think it was just her personality that didn't match my personal preference. The rest of the crew--restaurant manager: so cute and friendly, lots of helpful info. The sommelier: accommodating and full of knowledge. The chef even came out to greet us and chat with us at the end, while we knew he was so busy with a full restaurant! He signed our menus and took pics with us also. Highly recommend this place. The hard work is showed forth in the entire dining experience.

Yelp
An awesome night in Copenhagen that kept us on the edge of our seat all night. Any worries over Damien taking over as head chef were overblown has he had a magical performance. Their octopus was the best I had ever had and I've eaten at top restaurants all over the world. Personal favorite was the lobster. I would probably go again the next time I am in town too. Service was excellent all night too. Along with Jordnaer, best service we received last 5 years. More stars coming for Studio in the future.

Yelp
One of three dining concepts at "The Standard," an Art Deco building constructed in the 1930s that has since been re-positioned as a modern destination along the waterfront, Stud!o has been said by many to offer one of Copenhagen's most impressive tasting menus in the 'New Nordic' era, the recent announcement that Chef Torsten Vildgaard would be leaving to join Renè Redzepi at noma 2.0 speaking volumes of the man's talents while also stoking a personal interest in the project based on a lunch enjoyed on July 7th. Originally opened in late 2013 as a partnership between Manifesto co-creator Claus Meyer and Chef Vildgaard, a Michelin Star it still holds quick to follow even as the rest of the building including Summer Concerts and a Jazz Club often draw attention away from the stylish space and open kitchen tucked away on the second floor, diners visiting Stud!o are promised a menu of 'curious and playful' cuisine at both lunch and dinner, the waitstaff polite but formal while the majority of plates are presented by Torsten and his team of Chefs. Visited on a fairly warm afternoon, the cloudless Copenhagen sky a rarity that saw many locals sunbathing along the inner harbor with only a light breeze through open windows helping to cool the low-ceilinged room, it was without hesitation that still water and a glass of Rhubarb-Dill Juice was selected to accompany the 100DKK 9-course menu, a Sandwich of crispy Potato strings quick to arrive and whet palates around a briny center of emulsified Vinegar, Fish Roe and Cress. Seated at a wooden hightop in plain view of the kitchen, a total of just five guests matched by an equal number of men working in relative silence, bite number two came by way of a Stud!o signature placing a lightly cooked Quail Egg beneath Summer Truffles alongside Black Salt and several whole Eggs in a carton, the single bite bursting in each diner's mouth and quickly flooding the palate while a follow-up of Veal Tartare was served in a disturbingly small calf's bone topped in Hay Oil with Elderberries and Capers intended to be spread on a Rye Crisp. Moving at a good pace compared to many similarly rated spaces, the small crowd giving Chefs an opportunity to vary pacing by table, plate four was once again described as a 'signature' with Vildgaard's take on an Æbleskiver successfully putting Cheese and Truffles where Jam usually fits, the Sourdough made from Meyer's starter expectedly good on its own but better with Butter or Soured Cream while Malt Crackers in an envelope seemed somewhat superfluous. Still rooted in foraging and the best local produce, but clearly rooted in classic French technique as evidenced by peerless Sauces that compliment but never overwhelm, the first proper plate of the day came by way of raw Shrimp tucked inside leaves alongside salted and grilled Cucumbers with nuggets of frozen Dill atop, the juice ordered early on clearly intended to pair and doing so in a manner that accentuates sour notes that are balanced by the sweet Crustacean. Serving fairly large portions of proteins to compensate for the abbreviated menu, evening diners offered one extra course plus two additional snacks for an additional 300DKK, a plate of Witch Flounder roasted on its perfectly cleaned bones came next bathed in foamy Garlic Butter with tiny black Capers adding both brine and texture, the follow-up of barely-boiled Squid cut into Noodles offering light resistance to the tooth in a Creamy Mussel Sauce with Beach Herbs and the assertive flavor of Miso. To this point very impressed, not one stem, seed or flower out of place or unnecessary to the compositions, Stud!o's final savory came by way of rosy Pigeon Breasts kissed by the grill alongside warm Cherries cooked in foraged spices and blanked in Sorrel atop a Sauce of Black Garlic and Pan Jus, a duo of Desserts managing the delicate task of adding Herbs to something sweet with purpose rather than on principle as numbing Szechuan Peppercorn Ice Cream found its foil in Raspberries and Yogurt while a frozen disc of Beet Root perched elegantly atop Blackberries perfumed in Licorice and kept from being too sweet by Crème Fraiche.

Yelp
Excellent Michelin starred restaurant in a beautiful setting in Copenhagen. Seasonal specialties served including Nordic lobster, razor clams and Danish venison. Innovative use of ingredients, including cel (in a dessert) and diner grilled lamb heart as a starter. Friendly and professional staff. Open kitchen. Lively atmosphere, with diners lingering until midnight. They serve bread here too. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This spot is one of my new favorite fine dining restaurants in town. Set menu and went with the extra wine pairing (wine Pairing from the old wine cellar) which is most def well spent! The food is absolutely amazing - vibrant, edgy, noisy yet classy. Great staff, music and interior. Finished evening with a great Marolo grappa, an espresso martini and petit four. We will come back soon!

Geoff G.

Yelp
This may be my favorite Michelin star restaurant to date. I've been to at least 7 (1 and 2 stars only). This one is most vibrant, not white napkin cloth stuffiness. I went alone today and sat at the open kitchen bar during lunch. I like people watching so the idea of observing the teamwork of multiple chefs prepare and serve one meal after another for the 5 or 7 course tastings was a personal enjoyment. Nearly all chefs (Alan et al.) interacted with me. Super nice group of people. I'm not the boisterous type looking for attention, they were voluntary and cordial. The mushroom ravioli with pumpkin spice sauce was my favorite. They even set a standard for homemade butter in my book (as simple as that seems). Views of the Copenhagen harbor above ground level kept an open sense of the restaurant. I would consider this an excellent date place for the younger at heart (with money to spare). I believe, as informal as it may be, eating at the bar is a privilege.

Anelya S.

Yelp
Came here for Lunch, after I was turned away at Noma, apperantly they are booked till the end of November, and it's August 10th! I selected 7 course lunch with wine pairing, and a glass of champagne. The highlights: - the dining room, it's filled with natural light, which made the dish presentation much better - open kitchen; you can see chefs at work - service; polite, attentive, delightful - wine; perfectly paired up - food; exquisite. My experience was spectacular! Paid about 2200 DKK for lunch :)

Michelle E.

Yelp
I have to say, this is a bit of a late recommendation, but this place is still one of my favorites in the city. I had the pleasure of coming here almost a year ago, and it still seems like yesterday. I came with a colleague and we sat up at the food bar facing into the kitchen, which i can highly recommend. You get to watch the kitchen work like a well oiled machine. Everyone calm, organized and knows their job. The presentation is phenomenal, with the quail eggs and fresh truffle being my favorite dish. Thorsten is a very talented chef. The vibe of the restaurant is very lively and not stuffy. With a view over the water, this will give you an evening that you will remember!

Anders H.

Yelp
Best meal we ever had, any Michelin star they have is well deserved. We had the table with a kitchen view and enjoyed chatting with the various chefs about their food. Impeccable service. Just go. Do it!

Emily B.

Yelp
It is unconscionable that Studio does not have Three Stars! My fiancé and I have eaten at a handful of Michelin-starred restaurants throughout the past year--in the US, Denmark, Switzerland, France, and Italy. In Copenhagen, we ate at three restaurants with stars. Nothing even remotely compares to the craftsmanship, creativity, and service at Studio. We did the 7-course with a wine pairing, and each course was a fresh, new surprise from the last. The wines could not have been better, and this was hands down the best wine pairing we've done all year--including a Michelin starred restaurant in Piedmont, Italy. The wine pairing at Studio also blew away the wine pairings at most other Copenhagen starred restaurants except perhaps Relae, which also had a really fantastic wine menu. Stylistically, the food is presented in such an artistic way that it's difficult to know what you're looking at. The space itself is a design fanatic's heaven. It is so stylish yet comfortable--a great complement to the food as well as the ultra-friendly staff. For foodies, Studio is an absolute must-visit!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Sat at the Chef's counter the day after sitting at the Chef's counter of Relae. Boy, what a difference in caliber and execution. Both being one Michelin starred restaurant and Noma alum, Studio was far far superior in execution and service. No wonder, the head chef having been Noma's head chef and head of R&D from 2005-2012. The playful, surprising and beautiful presentations was a delight. Food delicious -- the stand out for me being the squid -- it looked like pasta and almost tasted like it since it was so soft! Another imaginative dish was the talk of leek that you picked up the "paint" from the plate of different flavors. So fun! Service was fantastic and truly glad I opted for the Full On Menu...though I could really not finish all the food by the end.

Julie N.

Yelp
Phenomenal experience. Not giving 5 stars because when I am going to spend this kind of money on food again I would choose Kiin Kiin or Noma over this place. The clear standout of Studio is their service. The pacing and customer attention is ridiculously spot on. We spent about 3.5 hours and were never feeling forgotten nor overwhelmed. The atmosphere is wonderful with a great location next to the water and a view into the kitchen to see the beautifully orchestrated prep. The noise level was moderate, but no problem having a private conversation. Food wise you have some minor add-ons, but it is basically ~7 snacks and 7 courses. Presentation is impressive although understated. The combination of the different dishes felt very cohesive and the wine pairings were inspired. In addition to the understated Nordic feel there was a bit of playfulness with use of water from a vase in one dish and a vial of flavoring you could self administer. Several dishes really stood out as successful & unexpected flavor combinations, but there weren't as many where I was craving seconds. All in all I am in awe of the coordination of such beautiful and unique dishes being served in perfect pacing. And most of all feeling like a queen for a couple of hours. Highly recommended.

E H.

Yelp
Amazing foods and exceptional services. I ended up dining by myself because my friend couldn't join the trip, but it was not awkward at all. Perhaps, it was the best dining experience I ever had. Everyone was very friendly and kept me amused. Now, the food. I had a 5 course lunch plus caviar and foie gras with wine pairing. Probably the best decision i made during my trip. Foie gras is perfectly cooked, it is so rich and creamy, yet there are slices of pear so it balances out the richness. They paired it with Krug Brut, which was a perfect match. This is the best foie gras i had so far. My favorite main dish was miso marinated squid. Squid was cooked to perfection, it is so soft that it just melt away. All the other dishes were awesome, I wish I could stay longer so I can visit this place again.

Lev E.

Yelp
Location is very charming, right on the water. Very walk able and easy access from Nyhavn. Beyond amazing Nordic food from the top Noma alum...Chef Torsten Vildgaard. Service was delightful and the wine....super sigh! The sommelier selections are breathtaking! If all that doesn't make you want to book an immediate flight to Viking land, they serve Screaming Eagle by the GLASS! Can you say....coravine! Valhalla!

Erik's R.

Yelp
Food was amazing. I gave 3 stars because the wine pairing was a bit of a disaster. (Aside from the 1997 moulin Touchais, Coteaux du Layon.) the 2009 barbaresco was ok. Do not dip the bread in the oyster sauce. The bread is too oily and kills the flavor. Otherwise an incredible experience. Without the winefail it's a 4-5

Choc B.

Yelp
A very long overdue review. Chef Torsten Vildgaard is ex-noma alumni. He was chef de cuisine at noma from 2005-2012. Some say that noma lost their world best restaurant title in 2013 because chef Torsten quit to open studio. That said, those who come here expecting noma food is rude to the chef because he offers very different food. If noma is all about pushing culinary boundaries, studio is about that plus french presentation. Out of all the most memorable dish when I dined here was the boiled leek. It was boiled at the end (the part that most people throw away) and I had to use painting knife to scrape the parsley miso and kombu powder to attach it to the boiled leek. The coffee was also memorable. They brew the coffee in front of you and you can see bubbles rising. You will not get lattes or cappuccinos, but you will get a straight black coffee brewed with the best beans. Come here and expect to be blown away. Studio is best experienced if you are looking for an adventurous dinner.

Amoli P.

Yelp
Like so many others, we couldn't get a res at Noma during our visit so we thought Studio would be a great alternative. After dinner at Studio last Wednesday night, we didn't regret missing Noma at all. It was a wonderful experience from the "private" restroom in the shared building...to the way all tables and chairs face the open kitchen, so you can see the chefs in action at all times...to the playfulness of the servers as they came to taunt you while explaining the prep of the upcoming course. Studio was truly a memorable experience. Gourmet dining with a full Danish influence including an emphasis on dill, green strawberries, and other in-season items. Everything was fresh, highest quality, and thoughtfully prepared. My husband and I opted for the standard 7 course dinner at 1,000 kk and added a bottle of wine rather than the wine pairings. While the dinner is said to be 7 courses, they neglect to tell you that they also have 4-5 "snacks" in addition. Every time we thought our courses were starting, we were told that it was just a pre-dinner snack. I wish my daily pre-dinner snacks included fresh oysters and the other amazing delights that we were served. The 7 course meal is more than enough food and you will leave perfectly stuffed and happy to have a 20 minute walk back to the hotel. I don't want to spoil the meal by talking about individual items, but the attention to detail was very apparent in both the creation and presentation. The raspberry dessert at the end was playfully attached to a list of raspberry fun facts, for example. There's a little bit of mystique that adds to the experience. Even better, Studio offers a casual and unpretentious atmosphere. The kind of place where if your culinary-challenged husband plays with one of the quail eggs accompanying a dish and cracks the egg on the table not realizing it was real...the servers will either laugh with you or just clean it up and act like it never happened. All in all, for what Studio tries to be and what they offer, they have done an amazing job. It's an excellent member of the Michelin Copenhagen restaurant groups and very much deserves the star they have. I have not experienced Noma or Geranium but I have been to Alinea. And while I would still say Alinea is on a different level, Studio is still up on my list of one of my favorite culinary experiences.

Diane R.

Yelp
Wow. This was quite possibly the best meal of our lives. The attention to detail was phenomenal -- as many as 5 chefs at a time were placing tiny flower buds and flecks of herbs in exactly the right spots on each dish. My husband, 2 teen daughters and myself signed up for the 'kitchen experience' which was a reasonably priced 6 course meal at the counter where you watch the chefs work. And, they encourage you to ask questions! The veal tartare, flounder, reindeer with pea pods, white asparagus sorbet... all flawless. I can't wait to go back!

Daniel M.

Yelp
Sensational experience. Great service and skilled kitchen. Brilliant dishes and exceptional wine pairings (usually a sticking point for me). Everything from restaurant design to drinks to food seems very well considered. Dishes for me evoked many emotions/memories (especially the playful starters) which cannot be overstated at any price. Everyone was engaging including the master chef himself which goes a very long way for me with regard to experience. Pace of service was near as percect as can be expected. I have dined with many Michelin stars globally and I found this restaraunt to be Spectacular. Thank you.

Yelp
Shortly before our trip to Copenhagen, we booked a table for 2 on a Saturday night at Studio. I was really excited for the meal, having previously eaten at Noma and knowing that Studio's chef had trained there. The experience surpassed my high expectations! The space is wonderful--right on the waterfront in Copenhagen (go a bit early and enjoy walking around). The dining room for Studio houses just a few tables and a spotless open kitchen; though we enjoyed talking with one another, it was also fascinating simply to watch the chefs in action. I loved the intimacy of the space--the noise level was quiet given the ~10 tables and the lighting was perfect--each table was almost a little vignette with perfect and warm lighting. The windows were open on a beautiful late summer evening. And although the meal is quite fancy, the vibe was casual chic. Just perfect. The food and service matched the price point. Service was flawless. I love that the chef who actually was responsible for each course came out to present it; that adds such a personal touch and their pride in their work is evident. We asked questions of some and they were quite happy to answer them and carried no snobbishness about any questions. The servers were also wonderful--they were ever-present without hovering and a water glass never went un-filled. We felt so taken care of! The food was simply spectacular. We had the 7-course tasting menu; although there are 7 formal courses, this menu begins with a series of 7 snacks, so the actual meal is 14 courses. Of course we liked some better than others, but all were delicious and spectacularly presented; this is new Nordic cuisine at its best--delicious and elegant. The food featured flavors and ingredients of the region, such as blackberries harvested from bushes around Copenhagen. For us, standouts included the quail egg appetizer with truffle, the bread, the egg with black truffle, and the raspberry desserts. Again, though: each course was fanciful and delicious in its own way; we smiled throughout the meal at both the creativity and the flavors. Wine pairings were offered. We had arrived off a trans-Atlantic flight early in the day and were not in the mood for full pours; very kindly, the restaurant offered us a 'reduced' pairing which meant seven pours to match each course, but smaller pours of each wine. This was more than enough wine and served, we thought, to underscore the primary reason for pairings--to see how the selected wines worked with the food. At the end of our meal, our server was kind enough to show us (briefly) the kitchen and have us meet the head chef. He was gracious and warm and we, of course, let me know how impressed we were with the meal. Highly recommended. Though expensive, I thought it worth every dollar--this is what new Nordic, trend-setting cuisine is about and the experience and service were top-notch. Simply a delight and an evening I will remember for a long time!

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my 60th birthday, and what a celebration it was! The four of us had the five-course dinner with wine pairings, and each course/wine was expertly explained by our waiter. Other than the delicious food and wine, what most impressed me was how smoothly the accommodated my son-in-law's plant-based preferences and my aversion to seafood. There was not even the slightest ruffle to indicate difficulties--culinary or emotional--with our requests. I only wish other places could so diplomatically and efficiently carry out the wishes of their patrons. Thanks, Studio, for making my birthday dinner truly memorable!

Yelp
We were on a Northern Capital Tour in May, planned to arrive Copenhagen a day early, made reservation for lunch at Studio. We were told it was located at a renovated old ferry terminal. It was impressive as soon as we walked in. We loved the casual & contemporary decor. We set by the window with a beautiful water view. Atmosphere was great, service was attentive and food was great! We had a nine course lunch with juice pairing. Juice pairing was a little pricey but definitely worth it. I did not know some of the ingredients, yet they were so refreshing & paired well with the food. I love all the appetizers, entrees & desserts, especially the potato crisp; tartare of veal; raw shrimp, grilled cucumber & frozen dill cream; witch flounder; poached scallop & both of the desserts. Presentation was superb & taste was delicious. All in all, we had a wonderful experience!

Yelp
So we went all out . . . and ate at Studio, Noma, and AOC. Studio was the best value, perhaps of any restaurant I've ever been to when weighing in total service, taste, and what you get for the price. First off, we went for lunch and even though they closed and we arrived at 2:30 PM, they welcomed us and treated us so well. We basically had the restaurant to our selves, and I think it worked out to something like $100 usd -ish a person for lunch (and even though it says 3 courses, there are so many little courses that you're stuffed and it's more like 10). We didn't do drinks. I would recommend going for lunch. Again, it was one of the best values I can imagine.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience. By far the most money I've ever spent on dinner, but also totally worth it. The food was brilliant and the staff deserve a medal for being really friendly and very real people, willing to engage and interact and be part of the fun of the evening. i can't even begin to elaborate on the courses, and the surprise is worth having regardless. I would gladly go back, and the entire meal and evening are a warm glow in my memory.

Yelp
The best meal I've ever had. The best service, the best complementary flavors and complexity in each dish, and a wide variety of dishes for a multicourse meal that go very well together.

Yelp
How come there are only 5 stars, because this restaurant is a solid 10! My wife and I had dinner in many places in Europe and the US, but this dining experience was the very best we ever had! I had no idea that so many flavors and experiences could be combined in one evening? By the way, that evening went from 19:00 to 23:30! It was not just a dinner, it was a culinary show and we had front row seats, since we made reservations at the Chef's Table, allowing us to see Torsten "design" bites and small dishes right in front of us. We combined our seven courses with wine pairing. This gave even more depth to the experience! Not one post, description or review does justice to this superb experience. Mange tak!

Yelp
Service was poor, food was excellent. Just got back from a dinner at Studio. While the food was phenomenal our server was unfriendly and seemed irritated. Much better service at geranium. I don't mind paying for a great meal, but was bummed out about the lack of service. Wouldn't go again.

Yelp
Phenomenal experience! With its spectacular location, unsurpassed service, and it's incredible and talented chef, Torsten Vildgaard, who seems to posses an unbridled passion for his craft, I give Studio an 11, if that's possible! Torsten has a very talented and hard working team, as well as and young, bright and knowledgeable Sommelier. Torsten might just be the best new chef on the planet and definitely worth a trip to Copenhagen!

Yelp
Came here with colleagues for a work banquet. In fact, they shut down the entire restaurant to host us, so I am unable to speak to a "typical night" here, but I can certainly speak to the incredible service and experience that we had here that night. The food was inventive, bright, and delicious. We had multiple (10+ perhaps?) courses. Each was as interesting to look at as it was to taste. The flavors and textures were amazing through every course, and drew oohs and aahs from every person. This is significant considering we were there from the US, Sweden, Israel, Denmark (of course), the UK, China, and more. The kitchen was open and right next to our tables, so we were able walk right up to watch from about 3 feet away (separated by clear glass windows). The chefs worked together as if they choreographed their hand movements for each dish. After seeing this, it was no surprise that the timing of each course was impeccable. After the meal was over, the chef took the time to chat with us and tell us about what inspired his dishes. I would not hesitate to dine here again. And neither should you.

Yelp
I was a little apprehensive after eating at Geranium (insanely awesome) and Relae (ups and downs) about dining at Studio. How could anything live up to my lunch at Geranium. Well Torsten and his amazing crew worked wonders. One of the best meals and experiences of my life. I highly recommend the chef's table. Christine was outstanding as was the talented young soon to be sous chef's who both took the time to converse with me throughout the night while they both certainly had more important things they could be doing. I felt special and happy, which is exactly what you want in an experience. I did the 7 course, not the full on. I had two juices as well. The 7 course was of course many many more. The snacks were outstanding. As were the 7 courses. Not a single misstep. I had new flavors. Old flavors. Flavors I didn't think I liked changed and transformed. This city does amazing things. If you are lucky enough to get the leek you'll understand. I finished it all (apparently a rare feat). Painful and delicious at the same time (#onion breath). I could go into details about each plate. But I'd rather not spoil the adventure. Trust me. You're in good hands. Torsten plates everything himself. I was fortunate enough to speak with him as dinner service ended and he checked on me throughout. Indeed a special place. I highly recommend. Great ambiance in an old building on the water. Enjoy!

Yelp
I came for lunch and had the 7-course menu with truffle and caviar supplements, along with the juice pairing. It might have been my favorite meal in Copenhagen. The dining room is airy and beautiful and the pacing of the courses is just right. It's a lot of fun to watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen. The food is spectacular -- more French-influenced than a lot of the other Nordic restaurants, with plenty of truffles and butter. My favorite course was the pork neck with the green peas -- surprisingly simple ingredients that blended into an amazing flavor combination. I also really enjoyed the thought put into the juice presentation. And the coffee service is so fun to watch and really makes the perfect cup!

Yelp
Dining alone on the first evening of my first visit to Copenhagen, I had the incredible luck to come across Torsten Vildgaard's new Studio at The Standard...and even better, I was seated at the kitchen bar watching this amazing team in action! Minutes after being seated, I realized that this was no ordinary dining experience...after a quick google, I learned how fortunate I really was! Without looking at a menu or further discovery, I chose a five course tasting menu with wine pairing which was preceded by three amazing snacks. Each course and snack was exquisite, artistically presented by Torsten Vildgaard or a sous-chef who explained various elements of the dish. Being seated at the kitchen table, I was also encouraged to ask questions along the way. I was incredibly impressed with the collaboration and execution of the kitchen staff and attentiveness of manager and sommelier Jacob Kocemba, particularly since the Studio had been open for just four days. While I took notes on each dish, I'd be robbing you of the breadth of this experience by taking away the element of surprise. Living in Newport, Rhode Island, I frequently dine in five star restaurants and seek out unique dining experiences where ever I travel. Without doubt, my evening at the Studio is in my top three dining experiences. Congratulations Mr. Vildgaard!

Yelp
The best meal experience ever!!! I came here on a weeknight with a friend. The lighting and dining room area was setup beautifully. Our server was very conscientious to make sure we had no allergies or problems with certain delicacies. We did the 7-course meal w/ wine pairing and it was perfectly spread out throughout the evening. The servings are immaculately done with such precise presentation. The timing from one dish to another was perfect. I really enjoyed how the servers would take the time to explain every dish and how it was prepared (including how to eat certain dishes if you are confused). I only wish I had a better memory so I could remember every dish!! We had a front view of the kitchen which was like having our own sneak peak into the inner-workings of one of the best restaurants in the world. Beautiful outdoor view right on the water. My friend had been to Noma as well... He preferred Studio as he thought the food was more delicious and tasteful.
