Jess Birch, the Owner of GOOD HANDS, is the Drum and Cymbal (1) Whisperer, (2) Historian, (3) Teacher, (4) Wiser Brother, (5) Sherpa, (6) Player, (7) Coach, (8) Air Traffic Controller, (9) Shopkeeper, (10) Aficionado ... and more. One who welcomes and regards customers as friends, and treats them like family, he is generous with his scarce time and boundless knowledge and experience, with patience and never even a trace of a superiority he has well earned and deserves. He is the exceptionally rare real deal, and it doesn't matter if you walk out of the shop with a free sticker, a $3000 cymbal, or a vintage kit, or a priceless snare. I eagerly travel for hours to his shop -- which is in reality a drummer's clubhouse, studio, hardware store, and library. Jess is one of the coolest cats you will ever meet. You can make book on it. And if you get your gear from anybody else, you will never know what you are missing. They say "if you know, you know." If you go to GOOD HANDS, you will "know."

Friendly and helpful service and staff. Jess the owner really knows his stuff and I always feel welcome. With a continuous influx of merchandise every visit is exciting. The best used and new instruments anywhere. New York finally has a drum store worthy of it's legacy. I would feel lost without The Good Hands

This is the kind of independent store that hardly exists anywhere. The owner, Jess, is an expert who truly cares about his customers, more so than any other store owner I've ever met, and has an exceptional staff that has worked with him for many years.

This is the place to go to for drums, whether in person or online, this shop’s knowledge is priceless. (Not to mentioned an incredible selection). They have amazing staff, Jess (the owner), Eddie and Brandon have all been a phenomenal help. I had previously looked for a new ride from them and they helped guide me in the right direction and give me the space to explore their selection. And recently I brought in my snare which I’d been having huge trouble tuning and needed it ready for a recording session the same week. Jess worked with it personally and talked me through the corrections he made. Not only did he make it sound phenomenal, he took the time to answer my questions, beyond thankful.
