"A bunch of people woke up early to hike. There are amazing hiking trails, but I’m partial to the South Lykken trailhead at the end of our street, Mesquite Avenue, because if you dedicate two hours and are okay with hiking straight up a mountain, you end up at a waterfall."

We truly enjoyed our vigorous hike here in late March, after a particularly rainy season. The gorgeous trail was busy with other friendly hikers and families making their way up. You must be able bodied to take this trail! Recommend holding on to little ones because during the narrow edges. Snow-capped mountains graced the background, flora were bright and happy, and we saw a cute family of mule deer. Take time to appreciate the fabulous views as you climb and allow your body the time to get used to sudden elevation.

I got lost in my thoughts and two hours later found myself by the windmills. Great experiences everytime I hike this trail

Orlando Realtor here… Attending a Real Estate Conference in Palm Springs. Our group enjoyed an excursion hike on the S Lykken Trail. Nice trail, easy terrain, beautiful spring morning weather. We enjoyed the hike.

Beautiful morning hike, greenery against the brown rocks. Saw a big fat lizard.

This is the best hike in the area. If you start in downtown, walk to the north end on W Cielo and finish at the south end on Ramon and walk back to downtown, it’s 8 miles. The north end trailhead is hard to find; at the end of 1021 W Cielo’s driveway. The Ramon trailhead is obvious. Skyline starts at the museum parking lot and ends at the midpoint of Lykken by some picnic tables. Signage is not good. Go right at the tables to find your way to the north end, go straight at the tables to end up south. Climb is not that hard
