Restaurante La Herencia

Picada was good, specially the steak. Unfortunately they can’t cook a proper morcilla. I asked them to toast it a little more and they used a different method which I won’t date to say was a microwave. The ambience is nice, mostly decorated with old books and random seating choices.

The food was very good. I think there is only one person who speaks English, but he was very attentive and kind. The traditional chicken&potato soup is so the ultimate comfort food. It is served with rice, avocado, corn, capers and cream. Their sangria is also the best one I’ve had in Colombia with lots of pineapple.

Very nice restaurant to try Colombian food. Nicely decorated, the team was very friendly. A special mention to Mario, the manager, who was able to take the order in English and give recommendations. I found the chicken curry bowl particularly delicious. There is no doubt you will be satisfied and you won’t be hungry as there will be loads of food in your plate. I highly recommend this restaurant, thanks for this nice moment.

Great food. Great service. We had some issues communicating with the staff. The owner came over and confirmed our order and made sure we were taken care of. The food was top notch and presented so well. Would definitely recommend this place to others visiting Bogota for good Columbian food.

It was a flavorful experience overall. The dishes we tried were packed with authentic taste, truly capturing the essence of Colombian cuisine. However, I must mention that our dining experience was a bit mixed due to the service. The sancocho we ordered initially arrived cold, and though we asked for it to be reheated, the 15-minute wait was a letdown. Another dish, the cazuela montañera, appeared to include canned corn instead of fresh, homemade ingredients, slightly diminishing its authenticity. Despite these service and ingredient hiccups, the food's genuine flavors make La Herencia worth considering for a taste of Colombian dishes.

We’re visiting from Canada and greatly enjoyed this establishment for authentic Colombian cuisine, and their caring staff. The head waitress helped us with the menu in English and even suggested items off menu! Our baby fell asleep and she accommodated us at a bigger table so we could tuck our stroller in for his nap. Now for the food - the Boycacense stew, the fish and the desserts were all top notch that we found to be fairly priced. The empanadas are some of the most memorable on this trip. The restaurant itself has a great homey feel to it. A must visit!

One of my Go-to places for Colombian food. It's not your typical restaurant, this one is high end. Prices are above average but the place is beautiful and the service and customer experience is also above average. For food, I love their appetizers.. make sure you try them.. ask your server to guide you based on your likes... Some food has lots of local produce and local beans and potatoes...this can be hard on those not familiar with "earthy flavors"... Their desserts deserve a special mention... try them... they won't disappoint. * very good for business lunch with foreigners wanting to try local dishes. * not casual

La Herencia is #1 on my top 3 traditional Colombian restaurants in Bogota, La Herencia, La Puerta de la Catedral, and Carne Andrés DC. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside. It is 2 levels and is very clean. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. She provided excellent service. The best part here is the food. We had mondongo (my gfs favorite), ajiaco (good), posta cartagenera (good), medallones de lomo al vino (excellent), pasta del pacifico (good), el gran cocido boyacense (excellent), picada sabanera (good), cazuela del Pacífico (good) coconut rice here is excellent, bowl lentejas (my gfs favorite comfort food) and daily special is oxtail (good), for dessert we tried torta de almojábana (great), tiramisu (great), leche asada (great), puro de chocolate (my gfs favorite). Juices here is just ok. Aromatics fruito rojo is good. Aromático hierbas is also good. With all the food, drinks, tax, and tip I spent about 600,000. All the food was fresh and delicious. Excellent chefs here. My final verdict is that this is the best local Colombian restaurant in Bogota.
