Yelp
The hotel was in a great location and the pool was nice. This, however, is not a luxury hotel, I suppose you're paying for location alone. There's no option to rent or watch movies (my kids favorite thing to do at hotel is rent a movie before bed), only limited cable TV.
The light in the closet doesn't turn off, ever. We had the worse night of sleep, we asked for assistance or explination of how to turn off light at 11:15pm by calling the front desk. They sent the security guard up at 11:45 (he admitted he had no idea why he was sent because he had no idea what to do), unable to help. My husband asked for some blue painters or masking tape to cover the seams of the door.... He came back 20 mins later, "we only have clear tape". My husband said "you have a permanent marker too? Maybe we can color in and cover?" This guy was over us... he laughed and left the room. So no luck and time wasted staying up til 12:15am with the kids for nothing.
I'm quite sensitive to light during my pregnancy, I'm already having a hard time sleeping.....but I'm finally able to fall asleep, and then our neighbors in room 206 get to there room at 2:30 am..... and the girl is wasted, and screaming and crying at her boyfriend, throwing things, slamming doors..... thankfully my kids were knocked out after getting to sleep so late, but this went on for nearly and hour and a half. I debated calling front desk, I really should have, but I was already so exhausted, I knew they'd suggest we change rooms.... Not happening at 3am. We played some ambient music to try to drown out the noise which eventually came to an end. I fell asleep.
6am, the alarm clock in the room starts blasting..... someone set and left an alarm on for Saturday morning.... Needless to say, I will never stay here again and do not recommend.
When checking out I explained the evening to the front desk, I also explained that when we changed our reservation (my pregnancy brain thought I had booked the hotel for the night we arrived, I had actually booked for the following day, but they kindly let us change the reservation after another 40 mins on the phone with Amex to resolve), the woman at the front desk kindly honored the hundred dollar credit towards food because originally we had booked through AMEX which offers a $100 credit toward hotel food/activities when booked thru them. I let the front desk know that we had an awful night, and I hardly got any sleep, I forgot to mention the alarm clock going off because it was so ridiculous my daughter had to remind me bc it woke everyone up .
When I booked the room, she told us $516, turns out it was actually $539. That included the $55 valet comped and $100 toward food. So our total bill was $711.20, (didn't realize you are charged an additional $89 Santa Monica tourism fee).
Anyways, I was hoping for some kind of compensation for staying at this hotel and not being able to sleep but all they could do is takeoff the $40 for the amenities.
Nice pool, ok food, awful rooms.
