Point Arena Lighthouse

This was an amazing visit. We were there for the first time, staying at timeshare resort nearby..wow it was magnificent overall. Jeff was amazing who welcomed us. He was quite friendly and knowledgeable...not much on those at the store's register employees who were not even smiling or engaged with customers. I was not even given a receipt for my purchase, anyway i dropped some on the tip/donation bucket. Well the 5 rating because of Jeff's excellent service and the beauty of this location. It was a cute, well stocked gift shop. The one at the gate was worth mentioning, she was quite welcoming and engaged. The whole trip although briefly was breathtaking...

Overall, great experience. Beautiful views, nice and quiet and relaxed. Cool weather, sunny, foggy, typical Northern California coast weather. Cutlery would be nice in the rooms ... Love the dog/pet towels. Coffee creamer options and a newer coffee pot would make this place perfect.

We had a day trip to the lighthouse and it was awesome despite an overcast morning. There is so much history and we unknowingly found out it was the tallest on the west coast was pretty cool. Going all the way to the top is totally worth it. I'm scared as hell of heights but was able to do it and it was absolutely worth it.

Great stop if you're exploring the area. The lighthouse and grounds have been restored and are in great shape. If you are there at the right time, they offer tours of the lighthouse which are very informative. There's a little museum and gift shop as well, that are very interesting. In the museum they even have the original huge glass Fresnel lens used in the lighthouse between 1908 and 1977. Best of all, the ocean views are absolutely incredible.

We did not stay here but gift shop and museum were cute and the tour of Lighthouse was cool and you can climb to top. It's $5 per person to enter the Lighthouse area and if you want to climb to top of Lighthouse, it's another $5. My husband did the climb and said it was worth it. I believe it's over 100 steps.

This is worth the $10 to drive in, check out the mini museum, and walk up to the top of the lighthouse. The first part of the tour was a little lackluster due to the guide being young but it’s only maybe 3-5 minutes, however the guide at the top who was also pretty young, was informative and had a good personality! I would recommend this to anyone who can do the 145 stairs up & down. They have a cat who lives on the property with signs informing you about her, and even a cute, illustrated child’s book in the gift shop about the cat. The quarters for the former keepers of the lighthouse have been turned into vacation rentals. The price is a little steep for the accommodations but, it’s an AMAZING location!

We stayed at the Bookkeeper's Room and found the photos and website description to be accurate. We had a great view of the lighthouse itself and being on a peninsula meant short walks to lots of beautiful views. In booking, we mentioned that we don't drink alcohol and were pleased to discover nonalcoholic beverages awaiting us. My one concern was that we had requested a king bed, which is made by pushing together the twin beds. I have had this experience at other locations and found them less than ideal. Here the twin beds are covered with a king mattress topper that really does create one bed. Our room was small, but well equipped and thoughtfully arranged to make the most of the space. |This is a natural setting, so if you leave your door open, you may have unintended visitors. We visited in July, which was an escape from the heat of our hometown, but did mean there was a lot of fog.

Awesome historical light house that you can tour the top of. The guy at the top giving the tour when we went didn't really seem to be interested in being there though. Every one else seemed nice, informative, and helpful though. Definitely a neat stop on the PCH.
