Always a delight to step into their store. Today, i tried their cinnamon with crushed pistachios and vanilla with honeycomb. Their coconut flavour was my favourite, but they no longer sell that.

I’ve had a lot of gelato in my life and in Italy and this is hand downs the BEST gelato in Melbourne! My all time favourite is the pistachio with whipped cream and the Nutella swirl. So creamy, an absolute dream! But I equally love the raspberry jam x choc crumble which is a seasonal special. Love coming here, would have it everyday if I could! The Carlton store usually has a line, surprisingly even a line in winter when it’s rainy, but it moves quick! You need to go here.

We have been loyal customers of this ice cream shop since it first opened, but unfortunately, the quality of service has been declining over the years. It feels like the staff is doing us a favor while we are paying a significant amount of money. During our recent visit, we encountered a particularly unpleasant incident. We ordered two different flavors, one in a cup and one in a cone. The staff member misunderstood our order and gave us both flavors in a cup. When we clarified that we only wanted one flavor, the staff member had a rude reaction and served the other flavor in a cup instead of a cone. To make matters worse, the flavor served was incorrect, and we didn’t even bother to address the issue, because it was enough that she rolled her eyes and gave us such a look, if it would be me serving her and not inverse It’s a shame that the quality of service has deteriorated to the point where we feel like we are serving ourselves. However, we did appreciate the friendliness of the gentleman who was working behind the counter and engaging in conversation with customers. We believe that the owner should take a closer look at the staff and address these issues. It’s disheartening to pay for a service and be met with bitter faces and the feeling that we are an inconvenience. We also find the ice creams to be overly sweet lately. So 3.5/5 would be the appropriate Rating. Don’t bother to queue sometimes for up to 30 min to then get such a service.

Pistachio gelato is such a classic. They also have fun flavors that rotate seasonally, worth a shot! Only downside is that there’s only outdoor seating.

You wouldn't know that this unassuming little shop front on Lygon Street has such an impressive menu of absolutely mouthwatering and authentic gelato flavours! Serving sizes are very generous and easy on the wallet. Staff are very welcoming, and can help you decide what your next favourite flavour will be. It's a good thing I live so far away or I might end up looking like a double pistachio cone!

It's this bright, cheerful shop that doesn't have a ton of seating, but that honestly didn't matter. The real star is the gelato. Forget your typical chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. Pidapipo's all about unique and delicious flavors. I had the hardest time choosing – black sesame? Blood orange granita? – but finally went with a scoop of dulce de leche and another of their pistachio. Wow. Just wow. The dulce de leche was rich and creamy, but not overly sweet, and the pistachio? It was like pure, concentrated nuttiness in the best way possible. You could tell everything was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I can't recommend this place enough. It's the perfect spot to grab a cone and wander around the Lygon Street area. Just be prepared for some serious decision-making when it comes to flavor – they all look incredible!
