Piccino is a cozy, seasonal Californian-Italian gem in a sunny Victorian, serving stellar thin-crust pizzas and craft cocktails perfect for leisurely hangouts.
"Walking Time To The Chase Center: 16 minutes Piccino is practically built for relaxed catch-ups with friends. There’s walk-up bar seating if you want to keep things extra casual, thin-crust pizzas great for sharing, and plenty of wine and cocktails. The airy dining room or covered parklet at this Cal-Ital restaurant is a reliable place to bust out your best small talk skills over braised veal ragu and mushroom pizzas. At night, the menu is a bit longer and the atmosphere is still laidback, but know that Piccino is really at its best during the day—say, before a Warriors night game?" - lani conway, julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez
"If we ever successfully hypnotized our boss into having a more relaxed work attendance policy, we’d spend a good chunk of our afternoons at Piccino. The light, open space at this Dogpatch spot is beautiful, and the food, particularly the meatballs and mushroom pizza, is fantastic. At night, the menu of Italian-inspired Californian dishes is a bit longer but the atmosphere is still laidback. But Piccino is really at its best during the day." - julia chen 1, lani conway
"Capacity: Varies Piccino is light-filled and airy, has the charm of a Scandinavian store, and feels like a friend’s home, especially since it’s located inside a Victorian in the Dogpatch. For private events, this Californian-inspired Italian spot is serving bright, seasonal pizzas and pastas. The highlight of their many options is the Guest House (24-38 people), located above the main dining room and featuring an adjoining secluded rooftop patio. " - lani conway
"Housed in a bright yellow 1850s-era house is a neighborhood Cal-Italian restaurant with friendly service, a lively crowd, and, most important: damn good pizza. It’s the perfect place to go on a casual date or with the family when you’re in the mood for well-made Italian food and a glass of wine or two. While the pizza is the star, the way to approach the menu is with a plan to share. That way you can enjoy melon with smoked kalamata relish, porcini mushroom confit ravioli, and one of the six pies, all of which taste even better when you add an egg. Sister business Bar Piccino is also worth a stop if you’re looking for a cocktail." - Justine Jones, Daisy Barringer
"Dogpatch restaurant Piccino is ready to serve lunch, dinner, and, of course, brunch. On the weekend that means starting your meal with fresh pastries, fruit, and Tuscan focaccia, then carrying on for omelets, scrambles, and savory bread pudding — just save room for one of the pizzas if you can. Sparkling wine is the move here and be sure to stop by the Euro-centric Dig Wines next door for a bottle to take home and save for later." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff
