"There was a time when living in Bushwick meant spending 50% of your time socializing at kitschy little bars like Pearl’s Social Billy Club. If you miss that, you should head to the takeout window at this neighborhood favorite for a pre-bottled negroni between 2-9pm today. There’s a small patio area you can drink outside, or you can just stock up your bar at home." - hannah albertine, nikko duren

"Pearls has always been the reliable spot where you go to meet your friends (who are probably already drinking there) and loiter outside as if it were your own stoop. This Sunday, they’re celebrating their 11th year as the area’s default watering hole with food, drinks, and dancing. Ten percent of their sales will be donated to the Fund for Reparations and the Trevor Project. More info here. " - neha talreja

"With rustic wall-hangings and candles tucked into cozy corners, and a curio-shop feel, the atmosphere at Pearl’s is a draw in and of itself, but the cocktails are incredible. There are shots of bone broth (the same broth also infuses their perfect Bloody Mary) or tequila-spiked kombucha; beers galore, and wine, much of it served in adorable Mason jars. The bartenders dole out delicious snack bowls with pretzels, sesame-crunchy-things, and other savory crisps to accompany your drinks. This is the sort of place that compels you to stay and sip into the night—unless you happen to be there on a sunny day, of course, when sitting outside with a bone-broth Bloody Mary is heaven on earth. "Bushwick dwellers know and love Pearl’s for its friendly staff and cozy, neighborhood mood. There’s board games for playing, cocktails that are stiff, and on most nights a dog or two will be hanging around. There’s no food, but Los Hermanos’ standout tacos are just up the block." - Patty Diez

"Pearl’s Social is the default bar in the area around the Jefferson L stop. It’s where you go to meet your friends (who are probably drinking there), and it’s where you loiter outside as if it were your stoop. How did it get this way? Who knows. But this is where you go when you want to drink and chat and stand shoulder to shoulder with other Bushwick folk. It’s a pretty small room, but there are some tables, a bar, and some window seats where you can hang out, check out the old-timey knick knacks on the wall, and decide what you’ll do with the rest of your night." - Katherine Lewin

Cute and cozy ambiance. I would recommend sticking with whatever beer is on tap or well drinks. I believe that the espresso martini was pre mixed and for the price it was not worth it.

A lovely tavern with jovial staff and delightful libations. The handsome and sweet bartender with interesting hair masterfully guided my wife and I through the extensive drink menu and delivered me to a few tasty cocktails. Cool and quirky atmosphere. I love this bar.

Google
Honesty I didn’t know making a manhattan was so hard. If you want rude service, weird vibes and undrinkable warm cocktails then this place is perfect. $37 I’d rather have thrown in the Hudson.

Google
Bar with very cozy atmosphere. Live dj on the Sunday afternoon that we went. Music wasn't too loud so we can hear ourselves speak. Good amount of table seating. Hot Chiocollato and Margherita were delicious.

I got super disrespected by the bouncer while trying to go in with my foreign ID. He probably had never seen a Brazilian ID before and started to affirm that I was using a fake ID and couldn't go inside. My ID isn't fake; it's just not an American ID. Learn how to read foreign documents, or DON'T WORK AS A BOUNCER!!????? He started to scream and try to intimidate me to leave and took my friend's drink from her hands because she tried to talk to him. Then made fun of me as if I was insane for not having my passport out. Mind you, I legally CAN use my ID to enter a bar. The person with orange hair that was serving tried to understand the situation but obviously didn't do anything about the bouncer screaming and making fun of me for having a ''fake ID'' that wasn't fake—pure ignorance. He thought the phrase ''expedido em 2018'' (which means 'issued in 2018' in Portuguese) meant EXPIRED in 2018 and said I was lying and that my ID had expired..? BRAZILIAN IDS DO NOT EXPIRE!!!!!!!!!!! It's in another language. OF COURSE YOU CAN NOT READ IT!!!!!!!! Please educate the people you bring to work with you; this was really humiliating and disrespectful.

I’ve been coming to this place for 12 years, always the best crowd and bartenders. Great locals spot.

Yelp
So cozy. Good vinyl DJ. Strong drinks. Nice option in that area. Will return if im ever back that way. Recommend.

Carina H.

Yelp
I personally wasn't a fan of the slushie-style Pina Colada they had. It tasted really strong, and I like mine basically like a smoothie. I tried my friend's Frosé, and I liked it a lot better! It was pretty crowded in here, but it didn't take long to order a drink. My group tried to sit outside, but it turned out the outdoor seating was closed. I didn't hear when their outdoor seating is typically open -- maybe during earlier hours.

Yelp
I've never felt more unwelcome at a bar yesterday afternoon. I've lived here in the neighborhood for 10 years and did a bar crawl for my bday. We just walked in for one round, the guy with short, greenish hair rolled his eyes as we walked in and I said how are you doing? He just head nodded and I said sorry, how are you doing? And he said "well I'm here". I'm sorry- do you not like money?! My buddy asked for a fireball shot because that was one of the rules and the other bartender said we have tequila or whiskey, this isn't the city. Bish I've lived in Bushwick for 10 years now I know where I am you work in the service industry. Do you know where you are? You cannot behave like that

Yula K.

Yelp
Came here one afternoon for a quick drink before a day party. Ordered one of their specialty froze drinks and sat outside with some friends. I was pleasantly surprised that they still did to-go orders. I'm from CA where that is generally frowned upon. Still, we got our second drink to go and enjoyed the rest of our day.

Yelp
Beyond disappointed with our experience this past weekend at Pearls. A neighborhood favorite bar of mine for the past three years is now an establishment I will refuse to go to and I strongly advise anyone who cares about cultivating a safe space to reconsider where they spend their time and money. From the moment we got there I noticed one of the bartenders was quite visibly tweaked out on some sort of drug. I had to constantly remind him what drinks I ordered and after he asked three times he still only charged me $3 for multiple beverages - clearly because he couldn't remember what I had just said to him. That same bartender then targeted my sibling a visibly gender nonconforming person - claiming that they were underage when they are most certainly 21 years old have a valid id. The bartender enlisted the bouncer to approach our group in the back of the bar. Our group was not bothering anyone or acting out of line. Note that the bouncer had already checked all of our ids as well and had no issues. The bouncer then approached my sibling specifically, saying their id was fake and they needed to leave. My sibling respectfully requested that the bouncer scan their id - insisting they are 21 and it is valid, so there should be no issue. The bouncer refused to scan it when that could have quickly and easily settled everything. Instead he refused to explain why he was claiming the id was fake and began to become agressive, yelling at us to "get the fuck out". At this point we were all just genuinely confused and just kept asking him why? Why couldn't he scan it? Why couldn't he tell us what the issue was? He then reached down to forcibly lift up the chair that my sibling was in to get them removed. At this point we start to get up because I was worried that this huge bouncer could potentially hurt my sibling who probably weighs 200+ pounds less than him. The bouncer then gets in all of our faces, continuously yelling for us to "get the fuck out", throwing our coats and bags on the ground. The bartender then approaches us outside and admits to feeling guilty for this happening and explaining that he really needs this job. He couldn't even coherently speak to us. All of a sudden he wants us to feel sorry for him? After he was the reason for all of this happening in the first place and targeting my sibling? It was all honestly despicable and extremely unnecessary. It's clear that Pearls does not value diversity or inclusivity as they aggressively removed a visibly queer person from their bar without any explanation or justification. I would strongly advise against supporting this bar and urge other to find a more accepting and welcoming venue.

Yelp
I had a seriously disappointing experience at Pearl's Saturday night, March 11th, and feel obligated to leave this review. My girlfriend and I stopped by after dinner for a drink. We then decided to invite a few friends to join us, as the energy in the bar was good and this has been one of our favorite spots for over a year. After they arrived and had their IDs inspected by the bouncer, we sat down at an empty table near the photo booth. At this point, it's important for me to describe the makeup of our party; 3 women, 3 men, and a non-binary person. Upon approaching the bar and ordering a drink, the non-binary person had their ID inspected a second time (this didn't happen for anyone else in our party who had ordered from the bar). The bartender then took the ID to the bouncer and told him something. The bouncer approached our table and told the person whose ID had been taken that they had to leave. After members of our party asked why they were being asked to leave, and if they could just scan the ID to prove its legitimacy, the bouncer replied "get the fuck out", started picking up our jackets, throwing them on the floor, and repeating "get the fuck out". The very large bouncer then pulled the chair out from underneath our NB friend. As we left the bar the bartender followed us outside and we asked him to explain what had just happened. He appeared to be intoxicated to the point he couldn't coherently speak and his eyes kept rolling upward (I have footage of this). We retrieved the ID and left the area. It's my opinion that the actions taken by the staff at Pearl's Social were an aggressive attempt to remove a visibly queer person from their bar. I can confidently state that this bar is not a safe space for the queer community.

Sophie G.

Yelp
This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a bar. The two bartenders were terrible to me and my friends to the point where we had to leave. One of the bartenders swore at us when we asked to close our tab and got angry when she accidentally charged a different card that wasn't mine. It was the only time in my life I didn't want to leave a tip.

Angel C.

Yelp
This place was cute but the owner/manager/whatever had their child at the bar the entire visit and it was offputting. Better off going elsewhere in Bushwick

Brooke T.

Yelp
The bartender with short brown hair on oct 16th was embarrassing customer service. I tip on all of my cocktails and I've been coming here for 3 years with my friends. I got two tequila shots here tonight and the bartender stepped out from behind the bar & walked across to my table and said I'm just gonna go out on a limb here. Can you let me know why you stiffed me on both drinks? I was genuinely confused and honestly taken aback because she confronted me so aggressively I had no idea she was even referring to not receiving a tip on two shots. She then proceeded to go behind the bar and talk about me loudly to everybody sitting there... I felt like I was being pranked. It's bizarre to see adults act like that. Tipping culture in Brooklyn is depressing but this experience was uniquely terrible. Please consider hiring kinder people!

Thomas D.

Yelp
Soooooo the bar tender is rude. Not even a hello. And the Frose Canseco is half ice. The drink isn't strong. Won't be spending my money at a place where the bartender has an attitude.

Alliyah D.

Yelp
Racist af! threw my card at me after ignoring me for a good 20 minutes when I was there before mad people who walked after me. Was mad rude about me using Apple Pay. Started a whole argument with my friend about not tipping and all 5 of friends who was with me tipped. They were arguing about the lack of money they get paid and how is that my problem ? This was a guy with a blue hair and a lady who worked on 03/29 at 6pm. please never go here especially if your a person of color!

Eleni A.

Yelp
We love Pearl's! Always make it a point to stop there if we're in the neighborhood. Our first visit we were having some of the fab fried chicken and on my first drink of the day, I knocked it over while pulling off a piece of chicken. While I was embarrassed the bartender could NOT have been nicer and right away refilled my drink. So Pearl's is definitely super inviting and a chill atmosphere. And not to mention awesome cocktails! What prompted this review is that my fiancé and I live in Greenpoint and I messaged Pearl's on Friday hoping to get delivery. I explained we were meant to get married April 4th in Palm Springs so we're trying to cheer up the day! They had already done their GP/WBurg deliveries on the Friday but they agreed to deliver on Saturday for us! And not just deliver what we ordered, they popped in a bunch of goodies to make us feel like we were in Palm Springs! Palm tree cups, snacks and of course some TP. It might seem trivial or small, but Pearl's made our original wedding date a million times better. Plus, the spicy margarita is actually spicy, YES!

Kelly S.

Yelp
We love this place bit we dont love the pantyhose dolls in the bubblegum dispenser. Over and out.

Jaylene H.

Yelp
Cannot wait for the day my buttcheeks get to caress the barstool of this fine place and get a drink. Wooooo

Jazmin G.

Yelp
Excellent dive bar, the drinks are strong, the crowd is usually local and they have little outdoor cafe tables if you need a breather.

Tiffany J.

Yelp
I went here to try their popular Hot Toddy... as a toddy aficionado... I was NOT disappointed A great tasting mix of ginger, lemon, honey and whiskey. Very eclectic decor and calm environment on a cold Sunday afternoon. The bartender also made some great mezcal drinks for us to enjoy. Would go back in the future

Nicole C.

Yelp
Trying to understand the concept of a flaccid paper straw and single use plastic palm.

Christian R.

Yelp
Wow. Changes. Such a great effort they made during COVID but now...yikes. Ordered a Mai Tai, $13, and the glass seemed to be taken from a doll house. Finished it in 5 sips. Mostly soda water. Too bad.

Daniel G.

Yelp
Great place with a good selection of beers and liquors. Great music and really nice bartenders. Cozy place to hang out with friends and have a great conversation. Draft beers are served in mason jars.

Paola R.

Yelp
I've been coming here since you first opened. I'm also Bushwick BK born and raised. Love you guys so much can't wait to to drink more margaritas, talk about dirt bikes, and eat Berta's fried chicken with y'all. Also- I love your non alcoholic cocktails and beers those are such a nice touch.

Scott M.

Yelp
Everything best. Drinks good. People nice. Microwave fee kind of low. Needs more nothing.

Raymond A.

Yelp
Great vibe and atmosphere in an interesting neighborhood. Close to the Bushwick Graffiti. Friendly bartender and late happy hour 12AM-4AM Sunday - Thursday! (Plenty of cardboard games available)

Rich M.

Yelp
Totally disrespectful bartender! Stood at the bar 8 long minutes and not once did he bother to make eye contact or find some way to acknowledge me. It's like he purposely was trying to avoid taking my order. This tall skinny dude was serving just two people and had the audacity to serve two additional people who approached the bar after me! This was so rude, I decided to walk out.

Ben R.

Yelp
This bar is all that ! Period ! I remember when Northeast Kingdom was pretty much all ya had. Ever since this place opened all I hear is how great it is ! I stopped in for the first time about a year after it opened if not sooner and stopped by this weekend , still killer bar , love it. Service rocks man

Lindsi G.

Yelp
This place is worth all the great reviews. Friendly bartender, delicious punch, low-key Brooklyn vibe. Loved it.

Matt S.

Yelp
Seth was awesome. Come bring your matches and donate to the collection. Check out his awesome bloody Marry's.

Sundeep S.

Yelp
When your Genesee beer and whisky shot are $6 (followed by a $1 pickle back) but the rents around you are close to $2000 for a 1br....nonetheless, a super nice dive bar. Laid back and super chill. Value for money.

Samantha S.

Yelp
Cute little Brooklyn bar. Stopped by for a nitecap with friends and stayed until close. The service was decent, the drinks good 'n cheap. My only regret is not utilizing the photo booth...

Troy C.

Yelp
This smoking hot babe received the most bitchin dirty gin martini. You never know if you never try and you never try if you never know. So go try it

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Four stars only because it doesn't carry Red Bull!! Betsy the bartender is friendly charming. We had a blast chatting with her. When we realized there was no Red Bull Betsy offered to make my friend and Irish coffee which was delicious! We were there before an event to have a couple of drinks. We went back after our show because we had so much fun. When we came she introduced us to the other bartenders who were very friendly too. Thanks for a fun night!

Daniel W.

Yelp
My girlfriend brought me here to take pictures in the photo booth... and then we forgot to take said picture!! Great no-frills bar. Friendly bartender, cool vibe. Highly recommend it.

John M.

Yelp
Love the vibe. Great lighting and great smells. Super low key on a Saturday night with friends. Only one bathroom though... I love the plants!

Jodi-Ann C.

Yelp
Great drinks and great music. Great place to visit with friends for a good time. The price is also reasonable, I ordered an old fashion which was very tasty.

Adele M.

Yelp
When I just want to unwind in Bushwick, this place is always on the short list. It's been been good since day one. Attentive bartenders, never too loud and reasonably priced beer and cocktails.

Remy M.

Yelp
Would like to shout out dale and Indra. These two magical ladies were not only easy on the eyes, but the sweetest. So attentive. So beyond polite. Served a mean drink and a fucking Funny experience. Love the welcoming invite of pearls open windows. You feel like a part of the neighbourhood. Some patrons are very Bushwick, but these two shine.

Jessie L.

Yelp
Oh my god their Whiskey Ginger is insane. Its spicy and so good. Im not a cocktail person but i can drink this every night. Its soooo gooooood!!!! And they have a happy hour deal! So if you go there before 8pm, the whiskey ginger is only $5! I wish they have more draft selection but so far i just adore this place!

Anna B.

Yelp
Happened upon this place and got our first drink at a bar since Covid started-- outside seating, super friendly workers, and strong drinks for the price! We have already talked about going back again soon!

Ian C.

Yelp
Bartender only keeps to one side of the bar, if you don't have boobs, good luck getting served!

Jenevieve K.

Yelp
I used to live literally 10 doors down from this bar and it proved to make for a lot of fun memories my last summer in Brooklyn. Now I live in Vegas and anytime I think "what is wrong with this town, why did I leave Bushwick?!" I instantly go back to thinking of all the tequila shots and beers I've indulged in at this fine establishment. Yeah whatever, it gets crowded, you may have to wait for your beer, WAH. The bartenders hustle and they're good people, they'll get you your poison; chill brah. It's awesome for day time drinking, especially when it's nice out. Can't wait to come back and visit so I can black out and talk shit to the stupid hipsters, and flirt with the nice hipsters. It's kind of a win-win.

Ben G.

Yelp
My consistent go-to bar. They have beer and shot specials like a dive bar, and then serve great cocktails too! Also it always smells good in there.

Sam G.

Yelp
I clearly misread this bar when I ordered a maker's manhattan. It ended up watery and without a good balance of bitter, sweet, sharp, and smooth. But hey, serves me right for not taking more time to realize almost everyone was drinking beer here. Or ice-filled cocktails. Despite its attractive display of bourbon and other liquor, I'm thinking the way to go here is beer and booze-on-the-rocks (or neat, or shots) joint. I can get behind that. It's just not what I expected because of the decor. Speaking of decor, the place is small, lots of wood, some old medicine bottles on the windowsills. The tables and chairs are informally scattered on the other side of the bar which makes things a little tight and disorienting, but also flexible for different group configurations. The lighting is really really dark with single candles on the table which makes everything pretty high-contrast. Warmth overwhelmed by awkward is the name of the game here. The general vibe of the patrons and barkeep follow in suit. They weren't unfriendly, nor were they inviting or open. Patrons just didn't seem to have any personality. Love the interior of the bar - not crazy about the humans or the mixed-drinks. ($10 minimum on credit cards)

Vidya S.

Yelp
I do not like this place. I walk by it every day on the way home, and it seems nice from the outside. But I went late one Sunday night and I did not like it at all. First of all, it was really loud. Secondly, the specialty drinks were $12 & up. Reality check- we're not in Manhattan, we're in Bushwick across the street from a live poultry shop. Lastly, since I didn't have my hipster uniform on, I felt like the "locals" in there were kind of judgy, looking at me curiously. I left and went down the block to The Bodega Wine Bar. It was quieter, had a more chill crowd (and story night), and a drink menu that featured some great local wines that were reasonably priced.

Lawrence J.

Yelp
Me caveman. Me eat grilled trout off your bar because great drought cracked all my bowls. And trail mix will be dessert.

GA A.

Yelp
Unfortunately, Pearl's Social & Billy Club is not Roadhouse. And it doesn't have Dalton and Wade Garrett as bouncers. So they don't get 5 stars. But it's still a great place to grab a beer! 4 stars! Safe to say you're not going to get diarrhea from this place.

E W.

Yelp
They left the door wide open on fall's first very cold, damp pouring rainy night. All I wanted was a little better lighting, slightly less loud music, and wine that night... GREAT hot toddies though. Plenty of dirty hipsters - old ones! Like, peeps in their mid thirties. Mmmmm, come 'ere gramps. I was on this sort of awkward, kind of ok date. It was then I realized that maybe I DON'T want to date someone who 'barely drinks.' And that maybe that to me is BORING and I want a man who can keep pace. We had two drinks in four hours. I had to work too hard to keep the convo going. Not sure about all this. Hope he's not reading this. So... what else? Music went all over the map. It twas interesting - and I guess my sober self sort of witnessed all this in bizarre increments of clarity due to the slowness of the drinks with the date. I kept looking at him wondering if I'd actually want to kiss him. I kinda feel the same way about this place. Seems like everyone knows each other here.

Martha A.

Yelp
So here's the thing. I like Pearl's a lot. I especially like Pearl's on lazy Sunday afternoons in the summer when I can sit by the open window and read a book while sipping a beer. However, I've had two frustrating experiences of dismissive ID-reading, by bouncers and bartenders alike, that pissed me off enough to write a review. Last winter, a friend was turned away at the door because his Virginia state ID wasn't up to snuff in the eyes of the bouncer. We were baffled. The ID was a bit worn, but 100% valid. We went and spent our money elsewhere. Fast forward a year and my roommate and I, both west coast transplants, step into the bar for a drink. We hand our IDs to the bartender upon request and she eyes them closely, before handing them back and saying loud enough for all to hear, "I don't think these are real." We pushed back, speechless, and she continued to refuse us because 1) my ID didn't have a light-sensitive seal that she could see (I see it every time I go through security at an airport, IT'S THERE), and 2) they were too "thin and flimsy" (Oh yeah, she almost broke my roomie's Oregon state ID in half by flexing it back and forth like it was a piece of taffy). What the hell? She even asked the folks sitting at the bar, "Is anyone here from Washington or Oregon?" to see if someone could vouch for us. Thanks for basically calling us liars in front of all your patrons. But I'm an empathetic gal. Maybe they were busted lately, or they're trying to be better about checking IDs. However, unless you're an expert on the differences between all 50 state IDs, MAYBE don't loudly accuse us of using fakes in your bar. Also - this is New York City. Plenty of your patrons aren't going to be locals, so making out-of-state ID owners feel like pariahs isn't a great way to keep us coming back. I've been successfully ID'd at Pearl's a million times in the past. It's a shame that something this silly is the thing that's going to keep me away from an otherwise lovely bar for the indefinite future. If you have an out-of-state ID, save yourself the trouble a visit The Bodega just down the street.

Chadsworth E.

Yelp
Cool place, cool vibes, cool bartenders The Latina bartender is so rad, the bouncer is killer. cool crowds some nights, mediocre crowds some nights if your local its a great spot

ReviewHaiku F.

Yelp
Grandma chic bar/lounge They have Imperial beer!! Go skate with these kids

Suzy C.

Yelp
After spending the better part of my day at Pearl's yesterday, I can confidently say this place is my new favorite bar. Gordy, the handsome barkeep, tended to my roommate and I for 5+ hours and saw us transition from our private conversation to drunkenly harassing anyone that sat by us. He kept a smile on his face and the drinks coming. I can see that it does get progressively busy as the night goes on, even for a Sunday. The decor is absolutely adorable, antique-ish country dive, the music playing seems to add to its charm, whether it be a random folk song or a heavy metal shredder, I was enjoying myself. I love that they have peak organic beer on tap (+1) and that they don't just make Micheladas, they make Motherf*cking Micheladas(+1). If they have pickles, you will find one in your bloody mary (+1), the crowd is actually much more diverse than just hipsters (+1), there's good/cheap Mexican food at los hermanos just down the block (+1) and it's right off the Jefferson L stop (+1)= 5 stars. The first time I walked in, around 3pm, in the bright day light, the place didn't seem like much, but there's something strangely homey about it. Once it gets dark and they dim the lights, turn on the tea candles, the charm of the place is undeniable. Unless I'm planning to lose hours off my life I wouldn't come here because I thought I was just popping in for a drink and twice I've been sucked in for hours. Great for groups, great for a date, great for girltalk.... hell, I can't think of anything it's not good for.
