Experience the charm of this historic 19th-century hotel in Telluride, where cozy rooms, delightful dining, and friendly staff create an unforgettable stay.
"This three-story hotel in the shadow of the San Juan Mountains "is located right in the heart of town." Opened in 1891, when Telluride was only four years old, the original hotel was a three-story wood-frame structure built with the riches from the gold and silver strikes; it was destroyed in 1894 by a fire and rebuilt a year later in brick. "It has an authentic historic quality that’s impossible to fake." Rooms are decorated in Victorian furnishings with archival photos of silver and gold miners. The menu at the Chop House lists a 30-day-dry-aged bison rib eye; linger over a casual breakfast at The Parlor. The Historic New Sheridan Bar has a carved mahogany bar, room dividers with beveled and lead glass panels, and light fixtures from the 1930s."
"For a nightcap, head to the New Sheridan Hotel, home to Telluride’s oldest bar. It dates back to the late 19th century, and the bar’s gleaming mahogany and lead glass haven’t changed since."
"The New Sheridan Hotel is a historic property on Main Street known for its Victorian-style furniture and architectural details. It also houses one of the town's best chophouses. Dating back to the 1890s, it offers 26 rooms and is perfect for those wanting to stay amid the action." - Travel + Leisure Editors
"Stop by New Sheridan Hotel's Historic Bar, which has kept the same mahogany-paneled look since 1895." - Travel + Leisure Editors
"If you’re coming to Telluride to be part of the action, the New Sheridan might be for you. The town’s social hub for more than a century, the historic hotel features two dozen rooms and suites, done up in elegant but updated Victorian style. Interior rooms are the smallest but quietest, while third-floor accommodations offer the best views of Ballard Mountain. The Ballard Suite includes a separate living room and can be connected to two other guest rooms for a family or large group. New Sheridan guests enjoy free access to a 24-hour gym just a few blocks away, as well as ski lockers and boot heaters in the downstairs ski room, and discounted food and drinks at the on-site restaurants and bars. Virtually the same since 1895, Historic Bar is a local favorite, with regular drink specials, live music, and foosball and pool tables. On a fine summer day, however, The Roof is the place to be. There’s also Chop House Restaurant for prime aged beef and fine wine, and Parlor for breakfast and light meals. The New Sheridan even serves as a gallery and atelier for its artist-in-residence, Roger Mason, a painter who can often be found outside the hotel, working on another colorful Main Street landscape."
