NBC Seafood Restaurant offers a bustling ambiance where rolling dim sum carts serve authentic Cantonese seafood, making it a must-visit feast.
"Not only is this Monterey Park institution one of a handful of dim spots that still offer cart service, its ballroom-esque dining room functions as one the biggest social gathering spots in the SGV. Expect freshly steamed Cantonese staples like siu mai and silky cheung fun, and the endless giddiness that comes with ordering from a passing cart. Wait times on the weekends can be counted by the hour, so if you’re short on time, order from their takeout shop next door. It’s the exact same menu." - brant cox, sylvio martins
"What To Order: Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai, Rice Noodle Roll With Crueller, Chicken Feet For many people, the words “dim sum” bring to mind vast ballrooms filled with families and friends and wheeled carts packed with metal steamers rolling past. If you fall into this category, NBC Seafood is your spot. Not only is this Monterey Park institution one of a handful of dim spots that still offer cart service, its bright dining room is one the biggest social gathering spots in the SGV. The menu consists mostly of tried and true staples like juicy siu mai, silky cheung fun, and crispy turnip cakes, but everything is delicious, and the thrill of ordering from a passing cart instead of a regular menu can’t be overstated. Wait times on the weekends can get intense (nearby Elite Restaurant temporarily closing after a kitchen fire doesn’t help), so if you’re short on time, order from their takeout shop next door. It’s the exact same menu. " - garrett snyder, brant cox, fiona chandra, sylvio martins
"NBC Seafood is a landmark in the San Gabriel Valley. The restaurant has been around for decades and serves dim sum every day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with push cart service. The best dish is the special “To To” ma lai go sponge cake, which is layered with salted duck yolk and made using a recipe from a famous Hong Kong chef and food personality (梁文韜). The dim sum offerings are vast but don’t be alarmed — there’s a picture menu for the uninitiated. The restaurant has also opened an express dim sum shop next door where diners can order all the dim sum available at the restaurant to go, without waiting for a table or having to order tea, and therefore avoiding the tea charge. The express section also has a few tables and a standing area for those who want to eat there." - Kristie Hang
"Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise—eating dim sum alone is an absolute power move, and why you’ll often find us at NBC Seafood on our days off. This massive Monterey Park spot is a classic and also one of the few SGV dim sum restaurants left that still offer cart service. The menu consists mostly of tried and true staples like juicy siu mai and crispy turnip cakes, but everything is delicious, and the thrill of ordering from a passing cart instead of a regular menu can’t be overstated. Wait times on the weekends can get intense, but if you come during the week, you’ll basically walk right in. " - Brant Cox, Nikko Duren
"Our Favorite Dishes: Shrimp Shui Mai, Egg Tart NBC Seafood is the best dim sum spot out of the three that share names with television networks (the other two being ABC and CBS - and no, we don’t know why it’s a thing). The enormous dining room fills up quickly on weekends, so be prepared to wait an hour or two for your shui mai. This is traditional dim sum, with carts of food rolling around for you to choose from. The food is all solid, especially the dumpling dishes and egg tarts. Just bring a granola bar to snack on while you wait." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox, brett keating
