"A spectacular waterfall that, at 272 feet, is nearly 100 feet higher than Niagara (although much narrower), offering dramatic views and a powerful natural attraction close to the city." - Nina Caplan

20 Best Things to Do in Quebec City

"At 272 feet, this gorgeous waterfall is about 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls. There are nearby activities including zip lines, via ferrata routes, a suspension bridge, cable car, and cliffside boardwalk with panoramic views. It's just a 15-minute drive from Quebec City center." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"Under 20 minutes by car from Québec City (or, if you are feeling ambitious, less than an hour by bike, with most of the ride on a well-maintained path), Chute-Montmorency (Montmorency Falls) is the area's most impressive natural wonder. If you visit the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec before you go, the sight will look familiar: Montmorency has long been a popular subject for local painters. Think Niagara is impressive? The cascade here is a full 99 feet higher—272 feet to the Horseshoe Falls' 173 feet. In winter, spray from the falls freezes into a hill at its base, known as the Sugarloaf, and snowshoes are available for rent if you want to explore the nearby trails. In the summer, there's a zip line for those in search of an adrenaline bump. Year-round, a cable car carries passengers to the top of the falls, providing bird's-eye views en route."

I visited this place in September, a rainy day & public holiday. Paid parking (all day parking). If you pay entry fee, you can visit the falls, boardwalk & long stairs to the top. The boardwalk is very long, atleast 30min walk to the bottom of the falls. Stroller, dogs are allowed on the boardwalk. Has a playground & benches. Kid friendly, dog friendly. Foods are allowed inside. If you want to ride the gondola ,you have to buy another ticket for the ride. You can ride both up & down multiple time for whole day with single gondola ride payment. At the top, there's a party house ,available to rent for private occasion which was under renovation in September; a vegetable garden & a bridge on the falls. You can watch the whole area from the top. It's a must visiting place for tourists in Quebec City. You can spend your whole day with family & friends there. However ,the gift shop isn't enriched with various souvenirs. Many people visit the place, number of washroom is limited. Overall, nice place.

Breathtaking views from suspension bridge or the cable car. There is small deck just before you reach the suspension bridge which gives the close shot of the fall. You can come down through stairs or can take the cable car to go down and get near to the fall. There are separate tickets for going inside the park and ride and is free for kids under 6.

Amazing! You can find free parking on top of the waterfall. Please take a walk on the river ahead of it....are somme amazing million years old rocks on the river. The waterfall make you feel energized and amazed ( the stairs have 480 steps so....maybe a little tire after). Check the Citadel and the downtown as well. A lot of activity and fun! It is an amazing town! Love it!

The waterfall is really beautiful, but the view is a bit spoiled by the bridge and zipline. I wish it looked more natural. The suspension bridge isn’t really “suspending” it doesn’t move at all, it’s very solid. Overall, it was still a nice experience and definitely worth visiting once!

This is a really great attraction spot! There’s a park, trail, falls and a suspension bridge. You can buy tickets for a lift if you don’t want to take the stairs, beautiful viewpoints along the way up.

Spent about 4 hours here today. Beautiful and peaceful. Lots of great photo spots. Ride the cable car. Walk the stairs. Check all the paths and views. Wonderful way to spend a morning in nature.

What a cool park. You pay an entrance fee, and you have 2 choices to go to the bottom of the falls, walk all the way around the park, over the suspension bridge down this cool set of 478 stairs down to the bottom incredible views all the way through or option number 2. Take the cable car down to see the bottom of the falls. And take the cable car back recommended for people who do not have good mobility. We chose to walk over the bridge and down the stairs to the bottom of the falls, where we saw a rainbow, which was super cool and then took the cable car back up. We saw a lot of people trying to walk back up the stairs. And were heavily winded, so we decided to take the cable car up either way. It's a great day, incredible views front on top of the bridge from the bottom of the right. The falls you can even walk down all the way to the water. Super cool, highly recommended. We will return.

Absolutely breathtaking! Montmorency Falls is a must-visit if you’re in Québec City — taller than Niagara Falls and just a 15-minute drive from downtown. The suspension bridge offers stunning panoramic views, and you can really feel the power of the falls up close. There are multiple ways to experience it — by taking the cable car, hiking the stairways, or viewing it from the bridge above. The trails are well maintained and perfect for a short scenic walk. If you visit in fall, the colors make the landscape even more magical. Parking is around $12, and you can easily spend 1–2 hours here exploring and taking photos. Definitely worth the stop — especially for photographers and nature lovers!

Yelp
A pretty cool place to check out if you are nearby! We came here and had booked the tickets in advance. We got the funicular to the top and back and it was a pretty cool sight to see. Once at the top, you can walk around to a bridge on top of the waterfall. Definitely a cool place to check out!

Yelp
Montmorency Falls should be a must see if you visit Quebec City. It's about 7.5 miles drive. The falls are amazing, 30 meters higher than Niagara Falls. There are many options for exploring the falls. You can walk the boardwalk and stay at the bottom of the falls, climb the stairs for an amazing view, ride a cable car over the fall, take a zip line or walk the suspension bridge over the top of the falls. It costs about $5.00 U.S. to enter but it's well worth the price.

Yelp
I'll give this stop a Very Good! Our GPS took us to an upper parking area (I thought we should have followed the signs and parked at the bottom, but we listened to the ol' GPS!) The cost to park and get in was about 12.50. You walk a bit to a small bridge where you can look at the small flat part at the very top of the falls. You keep walking, (there was construction and a big restaurant) and can choose to walk down a lot of steps or to take the cable car. The cable car offered a nice view of the falls and the entire basin. I think it was about 15 bucks round trip. At the bottom, there is a small snack bar, and some outdoor space to sit and look at the fall/water basin. The falls are reportedly very high but they are not very wide at all. We had driven/made stops all day along the Ile de Orleans and were tired (we're old!)..not a difficulty walk but it felt like a lot after a full day out. Overall, it was shaded, had beautiful plantings in the area and was a nice stop.

Yelp
I loved seeing the falls. Took the tram up and down, which was both fun and easier on the legs. The grounds were well kept with lots of flowers. I liked that people could hike if they wanted, but there was an easier way up and down (for an added cost of $6 cad). The cafe and rest area were spacious, clean, and was a nice spot inside to rest if needed. Walked the suspension bridge (twice) which felt really precarious. The boards are laid longwise, which made it feel unsteady. Got some great photos from this spot though.
