"Molly's is a modern-vintage bakery with unique approach to their cupcakes and sweets. The playful vibe makes you feel somewhat like a kid at heart, and rightfully so as a portion of all sales go directly to helping schools in the local community. The very friendly staff will help you pick from gourmet treats like the Ron Bennington (chocolate with peanut butter filling, and my personal favorite) and Passionfruit Phantasy. No matter what you choose to order, you'll be able to taste the freshness of their decedent, moist cupcakes. Grab yourself a coffee and relax at their bar, complete with swing set seats." - Stephen Merlo

"Sure, Molly’s has desserts besides cupcakes, but don’t concern yourself with those. What you want to order from this bakery are the specialty cupcakes. You’ll find choices filled with cake batter, cookies and creme, and ganache. There’s nothing subtle happening here, but when you’ve been in your apartment for 10 days, sometimes you just want to eat a cupcake filled with Nutella." - adrian kane

Been coming here for cupcakes for over a decade and the quality has been consistent through the years. The Peach Cobbler has been my favourite since college days & now I get to bring my kids here too to try them. Great for personal consumption or gifts. The atmosphere is comfortable with their signature swing seats, water & extra sprinkles provided. Bathrooms are clean too for the most part. Recommend!

Google
GREAT CUPCAKES! So moist and flavorful! I have had all kinds of flavors but so far my favorite is the blueberry 🫐. I HIGHLY recommend. You’ll thank me later.

Google
I stopped by because it said they were the season winner of cupcake wars. I loved that show growing up. The cupcakes are very well made, moist, flavorful. I got the peach cobbler and it had a heap of icing on the top but surprisingly the icing wasn’t overwhelming sweet. It was very light which I wasn’t expecting. You can tell they use quality products. I’m happy I stopped by.

As soon as we got engaged, I knew that I wanted Molly's to be a part of our special day. Not only are they my favorite cupcakes in Chicago, but they are also one of the very first dates my now husband and I went on. From the minute we reached out, Yaritza was an absolute dream to work with. Courteous and responsive, she answered all of my questions about quantities, flavors and dietary restrictions with ease and grace. Our tasting was wonderful and Yaritza asked great questions about our catering setup and menu, so that we made choices that paired will with our overall menu and so that the frosting wouldn't melt in the unrefrigerated ballroom. When I sent a last minute panicked email about a guest's nut allergy she responded almost immediately to assuage my anxiety. They did all of the setup, and the dessert table looked beautiful. We opted for mini-cupcakes because we wanted our wedding guests to be able to try multiple combinations of cake and frosting. I'm so happy that we went this route! Even now, several weeks after our wedding, guests are STILL complimenting us about how good the cupcakes were. They were such a hit that there was not a single cupcake left at the end of the night. If you're looking for a fun, delicious dessert choice I'd highly recommend going with Molly's!

Google
Amazing cupcakes! Tasted 5 different cupcakes for a wedding tasting and every cupcake was fantastic. The wedding planner for Molly's was great! They have SO many flavors to choose from, it's hard to decide, because they are ALL so good!

Google
My wife and I are so happy with our decision to go with Molly's Cupcakes for our wedding cake! We had three separate tiers, with different frosting between each layer. Our cake testing made it extremely easy to pick our favorite flavors and we loved the ability to mix and match cake types and frostings to make the perfect cake for us! Delivery was seamless and the cake looked incredible. Not to mention, DELICIOUS, and very competitively priced! Overall, we highly recommend Molly's Cupcakes for your wedding!

Google
The cupcakes are phonemal and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a box of mini cupcakes as well as a 6 center filled variety cupcakes. They were some of the most delicious cupcakes we've ever had. Can't recommend this place enough!

Google
Mollys cupcakes is the best. The young lady that waited on me was great. Only issue I had was one of the young girls that worked behind the counter..she was doing her hair..braiding her pony tail and had her pony tail holder. This is a food place. Do your hair in the back or bathroom..wash your hands.. She was over the containers that cupcakes go in. Not sanitary at all. I was waited on my someone else and she used different containers that was not where the girl was braiding her hair and standing over.

Yelp
The OG Molly's location is always the best! Since they've expanded, most of the cupcakes are usually made out of the Clark Steet location. The service is amazing at this location and has always been since it's opening. The atmosphere inside is always inviting and people always dining in and hanging out. They still have the board games to play if you want to just chill. They always have the water station and the plate bins to return your plates and utensils once you've finished using them.

Nora F.

Yelp
Love a good cupcake place and this one lives up to the 'Best of' Lists! Unfortunately, I only grabbed a pic of the peach cobbler flavor which was my personal favorite. We also tried the Funfetti and Creme Brûlée. The peach cobbler was the only one that truly captured a slice of the actual dish. Perfect filling, icing flavor with a tiny bit of cherry and a peach on top.

Shawna M.

Yelp
Decent cupcakes. Service depends on location and I was happy with my service at this one.

Holly T.

Yelp
We looove Molly's cupcakes. It's a must-have every time we come back to visit to Chicago. You can't go wrong with stuffed cupcakes. Seriously. My son ordered the Samoa one, and I got a Nutella stuffed one. Both of them were so yummy!! Easier to knife and fork it, but you can manage with your hands too. We so miss being near to Molly's.

Kat U.

Yelp
My husband and I got married in September of last year and we couldn't be happier with our decision to go with Molly's Cupcake. The cake tasting process was amazing, fun, and delicious. There are tons of flavors to try from. We ultimately went for a vanilla cake with peach puree filling and a chocolate cake with raspberry filling for our three tiered cake. Communicating with the coordinator was easy and efficient. Molly's Cupcake delivered the cake carefully to the venue in a timely manner. Thank you again!

Nat T.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Good space with a toilet for customers. Some cool flavor combinations. But the cupcakes-- especially the toppings --are so sweet that the flavors are often very very very obscured.

Leland L.

Yelp
Knew I had to try this place after I saw the food network rating in the window!! I was impressed by the variety of fun unique cupcake flavors but had to try their top rated - the flourless chocolate cupcake. I was surprised when she told me this was the favorite but after trying it I get it. The cake part is rich and fudgy, more so than a normal cupcake which I loved. And the icing was light and fresh and not too sweet so the cupcake itself was really the star of the show. Cant wait to try more!

Reine N.

Yelp
As a fairly avid fan of cupcake wars, I was really excited to see a Molly's Cupcakes storefront while taking a stroll down Clark St. After looking at the wide variety of flavors, my friend and I ordered the passionfruit and salted caramel butterscotch to go. Both cupcakes were not overly sweet or decadent, which I appreciated. The cake itself definitely tasted fresh and the frosting texture was quite whipped and light. The part I was a bit disappointed by were the flavors themselves. I had hoped that the flavor might be infused in the actual cake batter to help distinguish, but it seems like it was mainly found in the filling and/or frosting. The salted caramel butterscotch cupcake had a creamy butterscotch filling, but I think I would have liked a stronger flavor for both the frosting and filling. The passionfruit cupcake confused me a bit as it was topped with a blackberry and had a blackberry filling. Because the passionfruit flavor was rather light for the frosting, I found the blackberry jelly inside to be a bit overpowering. Overall, I'm glad I gave it a shot, but not sure if I'd go out of my way to return.

Yelp
Great selection of cupcakes--all of which were amazing! Ordered online ahead of time and pickup was easy!

Clara S.

Yelp
I forgot how good mollys cupcakes can be compared to store bought. This location though did not have any hot drinks because the machine was down. It would have been great to have a coffee with our cupcakes. We got the red velvet, pumpkin, churro, and flourless chocolate molten flavors. I loved the cream cheese frosting on the pumpkin the best. The churro was tasty, and the flourless chocolate was nice and dense. I didn't love the red velvet surprisingly, because that's usually my favorite flavor.

Shalmali P.

Yelp
Cute little cupcake shop in Lincoln Park. The ambiance is really pretty and they have a nice variety of cupcake options on display. They also have little swings near the counter for kids. We tried the White Chocolate Raspberry cupcake and OMG it was so delicious! Would love to come back and try other flavors!

Melissa B.

Yelp
So I have had the cupcakes before and they are good. Placed an order yesterday paid by credit card for delivery this morning for a work event. Even was a confirmed/verfied order. This morning I get an out for delivery.....great. Even went on Uber's site to verify address and confirmed delivery instructions. Then 30 minutes prior to the event cupcake delivery got canceled. Call to Molly's "sorry I didn't see your order" Molly's call us back; something along the lines of o we thought it was a scam order. Unsure of how Uber was able to send us an out for delivery text. Luckily Sprinkles is close by.

Yelp
After a long day of walking in the city, my family and I decided to take a trip into Mollys. We were instantly greeted with warm smells and friendly smiles. Laura provided us with a memorable experience as she was so patient and helpful as we decided on what to grab! Great people, great cupcakes, great place!

Kim M.

Yelp
Omg the peach cobbler cupcake is out of this world! It's not too sweet and it has real whip cream on it!

Louis E.

Yelp
Such a cute spot in Chicago. This little cake is popped with flavor. I had the strawberry shortcake and it was blasting with loads of strawberry. I could use that slice of strawberry heaven right now

Aesha E.

Yelp
It was ok. Service was ~ok. Parking on this section of Clark is pretty dicey a lot of the time. I got lucky in that there was a space right across the street when I stopped in. All pay to park, with the possible exception of a 15-minute-flashers zone space here and there. The cupcakes were ok but I wouldn't come back here as a destination. Perhaps that's in part because cupcakes aren't really my thing (other these homemade ones I make that are amazing). My partner and I agreed that the creme brûlée cupcake was the best; creme brûlée is my favorite dessert, so I'm glad it wasn't disappointing. The other I got was a berry cupcake and it was okay. Overall I can see how folks for whom cupcakes are amongst their favorite treats would find something they love here. For me, it's not somewhere I'll return unless I have a specific reason to.

Genna G.

Yelp
I never really understood the cupcake craze in this city but my kids who are cupcake connoisseurs will say these are hands down the best cupcakes in Chicago. They love the red velvet. We also tried the peach one ( a little too much frosting for my liking but the base was fantastic). Husband had the banana with chocolate - he loved it too. Friendly and efficient service. Grab a swing ( counter seating is all swings) and enjoy.

Anon S.

Yelp
Pretty good if you like very sweet cupcakes! Great selections of unique and trendy flavors. It may come down to personal preference, but to me, there was too much icing for a little cupcake. Between the topping and the filling (the center was all icing), there just was not enough cake to balance it out. But definitely cute shop, nice workers, and a great place to get a quick treat (they had lots of desserts offered- not just cupcakes!)

Sue S.

Yelp
Great cupcakes! We had a gluten free chocolate cupcake and a creme brulee and both were fantastic! The atmosphere is great and we loved the "sciency" board along the wall....very creative.

Mary R.

Yelp
I decided to look for a place for a treat and coffee while I was on Clark Street! I googled and looked on Yelp to find a place near my location ! It looked very inviting and homey from the outside with good ratings posted ! Went in a looked at the cupcakes to see if my mouth would water and it did! I showed my vaccine card and ID to dine in because I was cold from walking from my other outing! The coffee was tasty but could have been a little warmer(maybe playing it safe) The cupcake was very yummy ! It was filled with cookie dough cream and had a chocolate mini cookie on top! It was just the right size! I will definitely go back again ... maybe order ahead! I will probably by a half dozen variety! Recommended Keep this local business going:-) See you soon!

Melrose G.

Yelp
Nutella Cupcakes! Do I even have to say anything more? They have three locations, with this one being the original one, I believe. Cupcakes are pretty good with various flavors always available. It is on the more expensive side, and customer service can be hit or miss, but the cupcakes are delicious.

Amber F.

Yelp
Worst gender reveal cupcakes. You could see the color from under it and it poured all out as soon as you removed the liner. Ruined the experience and they tasted just sweet, there was no flavor. Please do yourself a favor and get your cupcakes from somewhere else

Gabriela U.

Yelp
Hands down some of the best cupcakes I've had! The Nutella and peach cobbler cupcakes are some of my favorites. There are many locations all around the Chicagoland area as well as suburban malls. The Clark St location is very inviting. You can enjoy a delicious cupcake, great cup of coffee all while sitting on a swing at the bar. Highly recommend Molly's!

Michelle P.

Yelp
Last time I came here was on my birthday a few years back: Their #1 seller, triple choco or something, was delish.

Alden D.

Yelp
The workers in the shop were very helpful with determining what cupcakes to try. We went into the shop later in the day and the variety was about half the normal selection. We chose the Oreo one and mango cupcake. The Oreo was moist and not too sweet, but nothing special. The mango cupcake on the other hand was unique and delicious. The frosting was light, almost whipped cream texture and the dash of cinnamon made the flavors pop. I'll be returning, just earlier to try some more unique combinations like the dolce de leche, samoa etc.

Christina S.

Yelp
I stopped in to pick up a birthday cake cupcake! Never disappointed with this choice! The center filling cake batter is phenomenal! Customer service was stellar as there was a medium sized walking tour-tourism stop there to get their cupcake fix!!!

Renee H.

Yelp
When you bite into a cupcake from Molly's Cupcakes you are transported to your very own island full of cupcakes and all your stress melts away. Then suddenly, you find yourself in front of a rainbow with a door at the end of it and when you open that door you see a waterfall of cupcakes so you jump into the sea of cupcakes (because only a crazy person would NOT jump into a sea of cupcakes) and all the cupcakes feel so fluffy that you just drift away into cupcake utopia. That's how good these cupcakes are! Faves so far and in this order: 1) Cake batter 2) The Ron Bennington 3) Crème brûlée. Always friendly service and love the atmosphere!

Megh L.

Yelp
First time actually stopping in to buy cupcakes. In the past they've been given to me by others or ordered/delivered. Store is clean and welcoming. Employee very nice and helpful. Speedy service too. The cupcakes I chose were s'mores and blueberry cheesecake - delicious! I highly recommend stopping by.

Taylor V.

Yelp
Yesterday I picked up 2 cakes from Mollys and the staff was too sweet. In the middle of picking up my cakes I had an emergency phone call and was on the phone trying to work through it. The staff at Mollys was so sweet. They let me ramble on my phone before they closed and offered to help me with the cakes to the car. I'm so appreciative and will absolutely be coming back the cakes also looked adorable and were delicious too. The buttercream frosting on the carrot cake- OMG! Everyone loved them! Thank you so so much!

Joe C.

Yelp
I don't know if I've just been living on an island but these are some of the best cupcakes I've had in a while. They do a great job designing their cupcakes and also just kinda bite construction. The crème brûlée one was very satisfying. It had custard filling and the brûléed top. I also tried the very vanilla, which was very tasty. Vanilla wafer, with vanilla crème topping, vanilla custard filling, and vanilla cupcake batter. I definitely want to come back and try the rest of their extensive cupcake varieties. The place is super cute too. Great decor & swing chairs! Coffee! Cupcakes! Great spot.

David A.

Yelp
My girlfriend decided to pick up Molly's as my birthday dessert option. It's a tradition we do for each other. The ambulance is welcoming, the staff is not only super friendly but they know there stuff. This location is dog friendly as well, they even had a water bowl outside for them. The cupcakes are phonemal!! The center stuffed are seriously sone of the best I ever had. The minis are perfectly sixed and delicious in there own right and will satisfy your sweet tooth. I can't recommend this business enough and will definitely be coming back very soon!

Holly K.

Yelp
My wedding coordinator recommended Molly's Cakes because they were a less expensive option. But, I noticed that Molly's wedding cakes on Instagram appeared very simple, so in return, I provided the bakery with a simple inspiration photo because I didn't want to take a chance of choosing something more advanced that could get screwed up. I have to say that the cake tasted lovely on the day of our wedding, but the design looked like a child had painted on our wedding cake. I'm not a cake decorator, but I could have definitely done better and it was a bit embarrassing when our guest saw the cake. Molly's Cakes did give us $50 back after the fact which is good customer service, but I still felt it was important to give future customers a heads-up... order something very very simple if you want to go with Molly's Cakes.

Hemi H.

Yelp
My order was not labeled with flavors, And the tres leches was terrible. I feel disgusted that I even had to eat such a thing. It needs to be dripping. Not dryer than your aunts armpit.

Minda L.

Yelp
If you haven't been to Molly's Cupcakes, stop what you are doing and GO! Seriously. I have been to Chicago 3 times and this is the place I always stop at. Crème Brûlée is seriously the BEST cupcake I ever had. It's super moist with such a Rick flavor, plus the toasted topping is to die for. Each time I come back, I try a different one. Today the woman behind the counter suggested the Ron Bennington. It's super rich and decadent. It's the perfect marriage of chocolate and peanut butter. It was delicious.

Riya P.

Yelp
Stopped at Molly's on a bus tour and the bus driver actually stopped the bus and recommended we try a cupcake. Long story short- she was the sweetest soul ever and gave me one of her favorite peach cobbler cupcakes to try! It was absolutely delicious and so decadent. The icing was light and flavorful, not overwhelming at all. The cupcake wasn't super doughy and had a good cinnamon kick to it. The compote inside the cupcake was a surprise, but a good one. Overall pretty solid cupcake! Wish I tried more flavors!

Denise T.

Yelp
Coming from Hawaii and trying their cupcakes they are definitely the Yummiest cupcakes I've had... daughter lives in Chicago and told me it's a must do and now I'm a believer as well!

Joshua M.

Yelp
Ordered a cake and missed the pick-up. Molly's staff called the next day with 49 minutes left to pick up the cake. They wouldn't hold the cake until the next morning, but still charged full-price. Inflexible customer service.

Eilleen L.

Yelp
I LOVE Molly's. If I see Molly's, I go regardless of time of day. Been to their Lincoln Park, Illinois St, West Loop, Woodfield and Iowa City locations. They are open late, great place to stop by after dinner or if you need a late night treat. Every store has a swing. I've sat in all of them! :) Love all the cupcakes. My personal favorites are the creme brûlée and Ron Bennington. Instead of cake, my daughter had Molly's cupcakes for her birthday (photo below)

Shambavi K.

Yelp
Had these at an office event. Omg i forgot how divine they are. The pecan pie is seasonal center filled cupcake and i am trying to not eat another ...lol

Alyssa S.

Yelp
Just when I thought I couldn't love Molly's more *boom* I discover something new....smh I went to Molly's for my usual creme brulee cupcake and while I was there I noticed they had cheesecake. I usually just focus on the cupcakes and go but today I got distracted. I spotted their turtle cheesecake. Had to have it!! Now did I get it instead of my cupcake? Of course not. I got both... lol (yes I'm greedy) This cheesecake was EVERYTHING!! It is regular cheesecake with a graham cracker crust topped with chocolate, caramel and lots of delicious pecans. OMG, it was fantastic. I couldn't eat the whole thing in one sitting but it's definitely possible if you really love cheesecake. Now I have another item I must have when I visit Molly's.

Kevin C.

Yelp
I stopped by here on my birthday to get myself a cupcake. Ended up getting 4 because there were so many good looking combinations. All tasted great! Even a few days after.

Anya B.

Yelp
I've only tried their peach cobbler cupcake but it was perfection. Summer in a bite! The peach filling tasted fresh and the frosting was light so the whole dessert wasn't too heavy.

Parissa A.

Yelp
Molly's has great cupcakes and it's always been in rotation in our family for special occasions! I recently popped in the original location mid-day to grab some for a little surprise treat for the kiddos and it was a big hit. The experience was fast -- not a lot of people in there mid-day and there was still great selection! Of the filled cupcakes, our favorite flavors are the Coconut Samoa one and the birthday cake one. They are such a fun surprise when you get to the filling.

Sharon W.

Yelp
So as I'm leaving the neighboring Del Seoul, I spy with my greedy eye a cupcake establishment. Signage touts that Molly's was the season finale winner on the Food Network show "Cupcake Wars". Good golly Miss Molly, you did that girl! Way to go. You go inside and it's a warmly lit, cozy establishment with swings to spark a moment of nostalgia for the older crowd. They have seasonal flavor offerings and some interesting cupcakes that make you want to yell "Give me one of each!" Thank you Molly for offering a generous military discount on your items. Each cupcake was wrapped with love and the workers were very patient, inviting and jovial. Feel free to devour your scrumptious goodies on site or take them to your car or whatever hidey hole that you use to do unspeakable things to your desserts. I can see myself going back to try more offerings and staying there to people watch.

Saphace A.

Yelp
This was my second time at Molly's. Last time I was here, it was summertime and completely slammed! It's a fun little cupcake shop that takes you back in time to childhood. There are swings in here by the coffee bar, 80s lunch boxes, and children's toys encased. Molly was the owner's favorite elementary school teacher that would always make cupcakes for her students' birthdays. He dedicated the name of the shop to her. Very sweet! When my cousin and sister and I came in the afternoon on Saturday, there were lots of tables open. We tried different things. I got the cookie butter cupcake which was seasonal. Fantastic! My cousin got a cortado with the white chocolate raspberry cupcake. My sister got the buttercream. All so delicious! It's a great place to treat yourself, since the cupcakes cost almost $4 per. They've got free water. Bathrooms are gender neutral. The staff is nice!

Veda M.

Yelp
By far the BEST cupcakes in the city. We were eating dinner nearby & decided to swing by this place (so glad we did). I got the creme brûlée cupcake and my brother got the butterscotch caramel. Both of the cupcakes were filled and so so good!!! Personally, I thought the butterscotch caramel was a bit too sweet. Nonetheless, it was still delicious. We also arrived to Molly's cupcakes very close to closing and they still had a wide variety of cupcakes available for us and the staff was very friendly. So excited to stop by again and try more flavors!

Jess A.

Yelp
Love me some Molly's! I've tried so many flavors of their cupcakes but top choice is the Ron Bennington!

Josh B.

Yelp
So this is the best cupcake in Chicago. This is better than magnolia, sugar bliss, sprinkles etc. The cake is nice and moist and their center filled cupcakes are truly remarkable. My go to is the creme brulee. It has a custard center and it nicely flambeed up top. It has a lovely crunch and soft chewy bottom that is absolutely perfect. Other favs include: cookie dough, cookies and creme, key lime, cake batter. You can also make your own! You start with a type of cupcake (their red velvet is incredible), then pick the frosting (go with brown butter, TRUST ME) and then you can top it with sprinkles at their sprinkle bar. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. This is my absolute favorite place. P.S. Bring back the mint cupcake full time (I know I'm probs the only person campaigning for this).

S T.

Yelp
For our wedding we didn't want anything traditional so we did a few cupcake tastings and Mollys was great! We were able to choose a few different flavors and also have a small personal cake for us to cut at our wedding. They delivered timely and the set up was just as we wanted. I will recommend them for anyone who has an event or just wanta sweet treat! Thank you Mollys!
