Stop here!!! You will not regret it. Definitely the best pistachio gelato I’ve ever had and best gelato period. The woman who is the 4th generation of owners is so helpful and sweet. She is so knowledgeable about her product and tells you where each ingredient comes from. It also feels great to support a small business instead of a chain of gelato places. Highly recommend!

The premises, equipment and form of the lesson are authentic. They use only high-quality ingredients, no powdered semi-finished products. When you add to this the owners' many years of experience and ambition, the result cannot be other than perfect ice cream! This unassuming storefront is home to some of the tastiest gelato I've ever tasted. The small shop area has information highlighting the quality of the ingredients and their sources. The person serving our gelato warmly engaged us and created the whipped cream fresh. The toppings complement the unique flavors and I look forward to our next visit to try more flavors!

Mokambo Gelateria is simply a marvel for the senses. This is no doubt the most pure, artisanal gelato in all of Italy and the world. I highly commend Giuliana for the wonderful degustation she held for my family and me. We were stunned by the beautiful old-world aesthetics of the gelateria, the aromas of cacao beans and Giuliana's story of each handcrafted gelato. But nothing prepared us for the unbelievable taste. Other inferior gelato will taste more and more bland as you eat it as the coldness numbs your taste buds and is unable to detect the weaker flavour profiles. But with Mokambo's recipes, the intensity of flavour reignites with each mouthful right until the last drop of gelato. It is evident that this can only be achieved with the highest quality of local and international ingredients, absolute control over their production processes, along with a love and passion that Giuliana and her family exude. I wish there were a way to give this gelateria 10 stars! We visited from the USA and a friend from Colombia. Our friends in Bari had never been to Mokambo and thought the gelaterie they had locally were the best. They were in for a huge surprise! Everything from the warm smiles and white glove service of Giuliana to the amazing artisanal preparation and quality of the ingredients is an experience you CANNOT miss! This gelateria orders cocoa beans from different countries and manually creates chocolate by using a stone that rolls. I was in a trance! The balance of the sweetness with the punch of the natural flavors were a match made beyond heaven. We toured Italy, we had gelato in the "best" gelaterie in Rome, Florence, Pisa, Naples and Venice and NONE beat Mokambo. After finishing our gelato, we went and ordered a KG to take home. Giuliana was so nice, she even packed the gelato for us with ice in bottles so that it would arrive in good condition. If your plans take you to Puglia, hey, even if they don't, you need to get to Ruvo di Puglia and have a taste of heaven like none before. This is a gem NOT to be missed!!! It is as if I died and went to heaven. I have eaten a lot of gelato in Italy, but when I came here, I realized I had found the best. I can’t wait to return!

I can’t say enough about my visit to Mokambo. As a chef and gelatiere myself, I always set the bar low, but there is no bar for something you’ve never had before. Their craft, art, gelato is truly and completely their own world and therefore this is the only place in the world to have these delights. I opted for the blind experience and was blown away. Flavors that were familiar mingled with dimensions I never encountered and some ingredients, although I thought I knew, were completely new to me. Partly because either I had never had such quality ingredients or ones with the uniqueness cultivated in each’s correlating terroir. The care they take in highlighting those most special of ingredients, balancing and complementing them is masterful. What we like to eat is a matter of personal taste and I believe saying any food is ‘The best’ only means it’s your favorite. Whether or not you think their gelato is ‘The best’ is irrelevant. It is inimitable. Amazing. A one of a kind experience that you can only have in Ruvo di Puglia. If you are even slightly interested or find yourself close enough to go, don’t hesitate to. You’ll be welcomed warmly and leave with a new perspective on what gelato/ice cream can be.

Probably one of the best gelato I’ve ever had. We tried 3/6 flavors and all were delicious. Favorite combination was pistachio and vanilla. Produced in the traditional way and served with charm. Thanks for the experience!
