"Gift Shop, Footscray by Susu Studio. Part of the curator’s role for On The Grid means giving up your precious local secrets. However, any hesitation was put aside knowing this mammoth store will never ever run out of crazy crap that you never knew you needed. Granted, there is a big problem with single-use plastics and consumerism, this Gift Shop will still dig you out of the domestic dirt, time and time again – with style! Lost your phone charger? Here, have a red one for $2! Need a storage container? Here, choose from 20,000 different options (not exaggerating)! Need a shitload of fake flowers for some urgent reason? Here, drown yourself in multi-coloured plastic roses! When you want to break away from the monotony of Ikea, get lost in the aisles here for an hour. You can overhaul your entire kitchen with an array of pastel-coloured collanders for under $20. We’d like to see you try find a task they can’t be used for.Photography by Gianna Rizzo."

Found this gem recently. Nice shop that sells pretty much everything you need with very reasonable price. And the owner is also friendly.

I was doing some early morning shopping and went to grab a few items. I arrived to the checkout counter and no one was there. Another customer who was being assisted by the clerk jumped in front of me and simply stared at me. And then the clerk comes to ring us out but rings her items first. And then rings my items up and completely ignores that I was there first. It’s difficult to want to support small businesses when you’re treated with such disrespect. I don’t recommend this store to anyone.

I love this shop, I've gone there since I was very young and enjoyed the variety of stationary and toys there were. If you need something in particular, you can always count on Ming Ming, it has mountains of stuff, and quite literally. Highly recommend. The lady (not the boss) that works there is so nice.

I love to be in this shop. Looks messy definitely because they have huge collection. There are enough staff to help aslways. All price are so cheap. I break a glass bowl by mistake and i asked owner that i will pay for that broken stuff. But owner said he Won't charge for mistakes. Very wise people. You will never be upset with this shop. Cheers.

Every trip to Ming Ming is an adventure! Never know what you might find, but you can always be assured that the prices will be phenomenally good. One of the places in Footscray that made me saddest to walk past during lockdown, when the Footscray mall was oh so quiet. So happy to have these guys open again.

An Aladdin's cave of wonders! Here you will find all the things you have never wanted, for a low low low price...or overpriced depending on the item. You can find things which are very modern, as well as, things which have been stocked since the 1970s. Well worth a look!
