"Milk The Cow came to Carlton! Originally set up in St Kilda, it's a great addition to the Lygon strip. Greeted by a full cabinet of all of the cheese and an abundance of wine you'll be set for the evening. And we mean all of the cheese, with more than 180 different varieties up for grabs! If you're indecisive, you're in trouble." - Seven Seeds

A must try experience! You need to love cheese and go feeling hungry. The staff are so informative and sooo professional. Go for the cheese flight with your fav drink set as a classic option. There are also some amazing hot cheese options (fondue drool) that are stunning! Be sure to book ahead as it’s a busy little ‘hole on the wall’ on perhaps the most iconic Melbourne street.

Great place to sample wonderful cheese and wine. We enjoyed some $10 specials to start, available until 6pm and then had a tasty fondue with bread and a side of potatoes. Huge range of cheese to purchase. Great service.

Great place for cheese lovers. Highly recommend the beer or wine tasting flights paired with the right cheeses . Baked cheese cake for desert is a must !

First time here with a friend and we had an awesome time. Love the ambience, the food/wine and the service. We were here at 6 pm on a Friday night, and this was certainly a great way to kick start our weekend. We ordered: * small Cheese and Wine flight (with 4 cheese matched to 4 boutique wines) - we loved the combination of the soft cheese with the chardonnay the most * Kaas Mit Wein Zu Kochen (Classic fondue. Swiss Gruyere, Appenzeller, Comte& Emmenthal, cooked with wine) * Baked Brie (An entire wheel of Yarra Valley Yering Bathed in sparkling wine, Cognac, honey, fig, pistachio, cranberry, port & orange) Enjoyed everything we ordered, the highlight is definitely the fondue, you can really taste the cheese with the wine, just the perfect combination of the melting cheese and bread. Can't wait to visit them again to try their other cheese and wines :) yum

Amazing fromage and charcuterie. The terrines were also grea, the pork and duck. Champagne by the glass was a nice surprise too as we didn’t feel like a bottle. Service was a bit of a miss, they forgot some of the salami we ordered and they took our order for lavish crackers only to come back later and say they don’t have any (had to deduct a star). Other than that atmosphere was great, fromage, champagne and cold cuts were brilliant. Will be back.

Love this place. The bread is fresh, the fondue packs a punch and the cheese and wine flights are lots of fun (even though they no longer do red/white/sparkling separately anymore) I would have provided a 5 star rating if there was less variability in the experience. For example, going at lunch means no music, a feety smell slow service while going at dinner means music, lovely lighting, attentive service and an awesome vibe. There is also quite a bit of variability in waiter knowledge of the wines and cheeses. The server at our last visit said 'this one is from Australia, and yeah' while the server of the table adjacent was thorough and informative. It would be useful to have the information of the pairings either on the menu, or even presented with the flights for a more immersive experience. That way, even if the servers forgot/don't know, the customer is not missing out.

Fabulous! A different, more relaxed vibe than St Kilda, but also a fantastic experience. This time we tried the whisky flight and gin flight (large) and finished it off by trying the espresso Martini with a twist - a whole egg and a garnish of cheese. Definitely worth coming back to try the wine flight and some different meal options. 5 star.

Milk the cow is on Lygon St in the heart of Carlton, Melbourne. We sat along the high seats facing lygon street and people watched. Some parking available outside or a few carparks available. the atmosphere was good, and the staff were informative on their knowledge of cheese. they offer Cheese flights with wine, sparkling wine, beer, gin, whiskey and cider. The cheese offered with the flight is a very small amount so recommended to order some snacks like the goat cheese madeleines, deep fried camembert, baked brie, French onion soup or a fondue
