"Located in a gallery-like space in the LES, Maryam Nassir Zadeh is more like a gallery than a boutique. You’ll find totem-like objects arranged on the floor, really stunning jewelry that you don’t know if you should wear, or just display, and plenty of up-and-coming labels. MZN has put designers like Dieppa Restrepo, Bernhard Willhelm, Jacquemus, and Lizzie Fortunato on the map."

"There are plenty of painfully hip, but ultimately mediocre, boutiques on the Lower East Side. This is not one of them. The overall vibe at Maryam Nassir Zadeh is meditative, studied, and genuinely cool. Just perusing the racks of the airy shop on Norfolk street yields some genuine fashion revelations, ones gleaned from Zadeh's own elegantly spare collection and other, lesser-known designers like Prisca Vera and Bless. Don't leave without trying on the ballet flats." - Andrea Whittle

After reading all these terrible comments, I am really not surprised! This business does not care about their customers. I was one myself, I had bought expensive jewelry from that store- the service has never been exceptional, but I would go back to support my local store! Since they decided to throw the worst party of the block disturbing the entire street until 2am last Friday with loud rap music and DJ music, invited hundreds of people, I am definitely not interested in supporting such a business. They definitely do not care!

Visited yesterday and I was the only customer there. The staff just sat there and watched me shop. They didn’t speak. I was interested in buying a purse but turned off by the lack of service.

Google
The shop is sparsely outfitted, but I think that's part of the aesthetic. The clothing and accessories in the shop are beautiful, but service is nonexistent (hardly even a glance in our direction!).

They tried to sell me a used pair of sandals in store for $470, without telling me, probably hoping I wouldn’t notice (the bottoms of the scandals were blackened and worn). Luckily I checked the box when I was checking out.

MNZ store is beautiful! The collection of designer clothing, accessories, shoes, and jewelry is exceptional and carefully curated. The crew is also helpful and sweet. Thanks Josh!

Google
this and Pilgrim NY on the lower east side are the two best stores in the 'hood. I love this store. Expertly curated. I also love shopping the lower east side and all the great nightlife. this store carries unique and rarely found designers which makes it wonderfully special. I always love the jewelry here as well. Great store. Excellent service.

Google
Beauty of the clothing and accessories diminished by the worst customer service I have ever received in my entire life...there was no service. There were two girls working, one redhead who was especially rude, and they tried on clothes the entire time giggling with each other, I was the only one in the store and neither offered to help me. I even sat down and waited in a chair attempting to try on shoes, sitting 5 feet away from them, and waited exactly 6 minutes before I got up the nerve to ask for my size, they said "one minute" and never helped. It was disgusting. If you like the clothes and shoes, shop online. Not sure what they're getting paid to do.

My favorite store in New York. Very inspiring, beautifully crafted clothing and jewelry, sunglasses, purses, and shoes. Feels almost like a visit to Sicily... The colors and textures alone make it worth a visit. Located in one of the most diverse and interesting neighborhoods downtown. Perfect for instagram.

Yelp
The good: MNZ makes great clothes -- I can't fault them that. The bad: their customer service. I only buy directly from the store if I know without a doubt I won't need a return/exchange/any kind of help. If you're feeling iffy, buy from a third party retailer like Ssense or 100% Silk instead.

Yelp
Beautifully curated shop and really great, accommodating customer service ***********

Yelp
This shop is drop-dead gorgeous, from the completely glass exterior to the curious jewelry, handmade bows and arrows, prism sculptures by Philip Low, women's clothing, and exquisite shoes. Isabel Marant, Vena Cava, Three As Four, A Detacher, Acne, LOTS of dramatic black jackets and floor-length dresses, and overpriced designer vintage in the back. No jeans to be found, no way no how. Jeans are expected, and MNZ is not for the fashion dullard. Had I a risk-tasking friend and $300 to spend on said friend, this would be the perfect store to peruse for a birthday gift...or a pair of Rachel Comey buckled ankle boots ($330) for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Hey, I work hard! I deserve fancy boots! Don't be intimidated by the crazy art objects or high prices. Maryam and her staff are all super nice and helpful, and the unusual interior design elements (metal bracelets sitting on the floor, beat-up wooden tables, etc) are inspirational. If only I could have an apartment full of these beautiful things!

Yelp
The worst retail experience ever. I am guessing they think it's cool and edgy to be rude, dismissive and unprofessional, but honestly who wants to be treated like they are completely insignificant when spending lots of money (or not)? Go to a real cool designer shop like Maria Cornejo, Martin Margiela or Rick Owens and get beautiful clothes and accessories by real design houses and incredible service with a smile. This place is ridiculous, truly!

Stefany F.

Yelp
Worse shopping experience from beginning to end. Staff in store was not helpful and arrogant and customer service never returned my email request. In a nutshell, was told via email that I could return my purchase and once I went to store was told I couldn't, so I showed the email I had sent the day before, which included my order number. No one took responsibility for the fact that the store employee authorized my return. I asked to speak to the store manager and store associate said she was busy and anyway would give me the same answer. I will never shop there again.

Yelp
A great shop for edgy and artsy finds! Check out this review at shopwithdice.com (shopwithdice.com/maryam-nassir-zadeh) and check out videos of interiors at tiktok.com/@shopwithdice!

Yelp
I just ordered a pair of Dieppa Restrepo Cali oxfords online...ordered on a Wednesday and got them on Friday...same week! And I signed up for the cheap shipping! Plus...when I initially contacted them to find out when the shoes would be restocked...Aurelia was incredibly nice AND emailed me as soon as the shoes came into the store! You just don't find service like that very often anymore! Reading the other reviews...I only wish I was close enough (I'm in California) to visit the store...it sounds amazing! Thank you so much...my first pair of "grown-up" shoes (I'm only 43...happy birthday to me!)...

Yelp
I like a lot of the items in her shop especially the jewelry. But the NEW policy of not marking ANY pricing on ANY item in the shop is appalling. This is a very expensive store and who has that kind of $ not to look at a price? When i asked the very uninterested sales person behind the desk he responded it was an "aesthetic" choice. Are you kidding me? That every time i picked up a shoe or a bracelet i had to say out loud "How much?" he said yes. Give me a break. That kind of arrogance has no place in NYC especially the lower east side. Will never shop here again.

Christina G.

Yelp
Hands down the best shop in New York City...well definitely the best shop on the Lower East Side. Handpicked jewelry by people who know where to find the secret people who make the amazing things. Stuff you won't and can't find elsewhere. Maryam and Uday have a special spark that gives this place it's zen pizzazz. That's right - I just said that. Great selection of clothes that are different from what you'd find at Barney's or even Opening Ceremony. Edited to perfection, rarely a snore to be found, and different every time you come in, even if you come in every day like I used to. Now that I'm in LA I miss this old haunt of mine. But if you're in New York and have some jingle jangle in your pocket I recommend you high-tail it to Norfolk Street!

Yelp
A beautiful store. One of my favorite places to shop in the United States. Cosmic Wonder Christophe Lemaire Saskia Diaz Electric Feathers A Detacher Mociun Christian Wijants Really nice staff as well. AND a sale rack with past season strangely fitting clothes, that I usually end up liking something on. Bad ass all around.

Yelp
I love MNZ as a designer (hence 2 stars), but consistently, the attitude and behavior of her retail staff in the NYC shop sours my experience and dampens any impulse to support her brand. It's just SO unfriendly in there. It's nearly impossible to even get someone to say hello; the staff might stare you up and down, but they don't speak (unless you're famous; I was once ignored ENTIRELY while they fawned - in a cool sort of a way - over Zoe Kravitz). The 20-something clerks always seem bothered to have their chatter or screen-time interrupted; on my last visit, after asking a price for the third time, the staffer finally put down her phone and said to me, as if gravely inconvenienced, "It's on sale... if you need to know more I'll have to go look it up." No thanks, I offered, I'd had enough. Final note: I am a 55 year old woman of color. I'm older and darker skinned than the average customer, but I know my way around indie design and fashion, and have plenty of money to spend. Nonetheless, I'm consistently ignored in favor of the young (usually white) hipsters poking around. Your work is beautiful, Maryam, but your staff and retail culture suck. "Rude" (if not agist and racist) is a bad look on a brand being built at the intersection of art, culture, and "wokeness".

Yelp
I've been perusing this store's website for a while (I live in San Francisco), and finally got a chance to visit the shop in person last week. It was an extremely hot day, and I got lost wandering around the lower East side, but this shop was like an oasis in a dream. Everything is as beautiful in person, as it is on their site. It's superbly curated, and pieces are displayed, and grouped, in a cohesive story. I feel like someone crawled inside my head and manifested a real space. Love....

Yelp
Any girl who cares about fashion too much knows about MNZ for good reason. The stuff is gorgeous. I can't afford it most of the time, but it's fun to look. Always have good music playing. I've always seen the same girl working. She's low key. I prefer sales people that are there if you need them; and otherwise stay out of your way so you can peruse on your own. I have absolutely no idea why this would be perceived as "snobby". But, I have a feeling those writing that word in a review are used to only shopping at the mall.

Rachel P.

Yelp
Horrible customer service- the door was open and people were inside so we tried to go in but were kicked out because they were "closed " but official opening time was in a few minutes. If that was the case doors should have been locked with. Closed sign. Turning away customers doesn't seem like a very good business strategy. Although I liked the sweater in the window I won't be returning to buy it.

Sarah W.

Yelp
Appallingly bad service. MNZ should let go of these associates. They are driving more customers away than keeping. I'd rather find the goods online.

Sam S.

Yelp
Amazing store with friendly staff and fantastic merchandise that's not all clothing/accessories. They need Rosie Assoulin though.

Sarah K.

Yelp
Really wanted to love these kitten mules I bought but tbh they're painful (I always get a blister on the ball of my right foot). I think it's a design issue bc I gotta say the loeffler Randall mules I have are so much more comfortable (aka no blisters). And so much cheaper!

Yelp
I love this store. It's beautifully curated, with interesting and quirky brands including MNZ and her gorgeous shoes. They don't fit me, sadly, but they're lovely to look at. I went in today and found a super fun dress, which I loved but couldn't justify at full price. Becky checked to see if it was on sale and it turned out to be 70% off! She was a delight, and I nearly closed down the store chatting with her about all sorts of stuff.

Gina ..

Yelp
5 stars for the taste level. Some of the brands I'm obsessed with that they curate are as follows: Cosmic Wonder, Swash, Peppercotton, Dieppa Restrepo, Isabel Marant, etc. Most items sold @ retail prices are absurdly expensive but I can't find them anywhere else, so I end up buying them at absurdly high prices and never wear them out in fear of making a dent on them. It's like DIY curating in your own closet. They must have some sort of exclusivity rights w/ some of the designers like how Barney's does it. I appreciate that this store introduces independent designers that are talented and inspiring. It's like art meets function, though less emphasis on function - some clothes I tried on were too avant garde for me to make them everyday staples. Not too keen on customer service, thus 4 stars.

Sam G.

Yelp
Love the clothing...love the shoes...but the people who work at the store are unfriendly and unhelpful. This is my 3rd or 4th experience with unfriendly staff there. I really like to give people / businesses the benefit of the doubt but it's clear after multiple interactions that customer service does not matter. If I'm going to spend $400 on a pair of shoes I don't want to be treated like crap.

Susan P.

Yelp
This shop is *lovely.* Beautifully curated, and every object rewards scrutiny. It's not really my taste -- I am a little austere, and most of the stuff here is a tiny bit precious or whimsical for me. But it is beautiful. Particularly great belts, shoes, wraps and hats.

Yelp
I never feel compelled to write a review, albeit a bad one but i was actually STUNNED at how horrible this place is run. It was SHOCKING. It's really gone so far downhill. I went in the other day to find the brattiest salesgirl ever clicking away on her laptop not paying any attention to the customers. I had to ask for prices everytime I was curious about something and basically got an eyeroll. All the merchandise seems kind of dusty and it is so expensive for this kind of ambiance. I also was trying on a sweater and it had what I think was a moth hole in it. They're having a good sale which is the only reason I actually ended up purchasing something, otherwise I won't be back.

Kelley B.

Yelp
Along with Pilgrim, Maryam Nasser Zadeh is my go to shop for seasonal staples with an exquisite twist. You can never go wrong here as Maryam has carefully curated the collection. I have shopped here since coming to the neighborhood 7 years ago. In addition to great staff and collection, you can expect an honest opinion. if they tell you a piece looks good it does!

Yelp
ULTRA FRUMPY SHMATTAS WITH ROCK BOTTOM CUSTOMER SERVICE If I could give them minus stars I would. The salesgirl stalked me on facebook and then when I went out of my way to save her ass, tried to take zero responsibility for her part in the transaction. And fyi- they mark their gear up at least 50 what the wholesale cost is. To summarize- i was sold a blazer. got a frantic call asking me to give her more money or come back with the blazer. LOL - um, hello a transaction is a done deal. She also squeamishly admitted to messaging me on facebook- a huge violation in privacy not to mention unprofessional. I decided to be kind and save her ass so I told her she could come pick it up from my friends doorman (i was staying with while in nyc). She then proceeded to LIE to her boss saying i pushed her into a sale and ran off- i was actually across the street at Schillers! I spoke to the owner and he told me my account is so different and that he would have to speak to the shop girl again. I had to press him to offer me a discount in the future due to my treatment. I mean come on, I could have said tough titties you sold it at that price and its not my problem but i didnt. the least the store could do is bend over backward in appreciation. Not once did hipster chick even thank me for saving her job and being a decent human being. Suffice to say I have learned my lesson and if you gain anything today from this soliloquy know that shopping at this establishment is a cruel joke.

Linney W.

Yelp
this new store on the lower east side is a wonderfully curated mix of women's and men's fashion and accessories and cool unique art objects. i was a little worried to check it out since it seemed really expensive and precious, but was pleasantly surprised by the sale prices and friendliness of the staff. definitely worth checking out and especially good for a nice unique gift.

Yelp
My favorite shopping spot in LES! Great selections you cannot never go wrong.

Carolyn C.

Yelp
Lovely storefront, nicely curated selection of high-end womenswear. Scored a pair of Dieppa Restrepos here highly marked off. Pleasant sales staff. Would return.

S Z.

Yelp
A beautiful shop, beautiful clothes, and kind sales staff, even if I'm just coming in to admire it all. The MNZ Palma sandal has to be one of my most favorite shoes ever, and so comfortable!

Yelp
I went into this favorite boutique I just adore TWICE today. First time today I bought several pieces then I returned to get the last piece of jewelry on a ring, I second guess myself on my 1st visit. I never do this get on yelp and comment, but today was different. Not only do I LOVE your store, but I do wish your prices were better. But was reminded by Natasha there all special pieces of clothing and by great designers. But the past 3 or 4 times Ive been there a sales person name Natasha has helped me. She is an incredible sales person. The place was packed today, the front door was ringing, {because they lock it} the phones or faxes was ringing, she had to do everything on a computer. Checking prices, and helping people in the dressing room and the most incredible part here was and above all this, she see's a customer stealing a shirt. She goes out in front of the store and comes right back with a shirt in hand!!!! She was very professional with how she handled it, but it obvious what was happening. One couldn't help but notice, the boutique is small. How does one person do everything by herself. I don't know who her boss is but they should know how incredible this lady is. And if it wasn't for her assistance helping me in the dressing room from the first time today, and running up and down there stairs and back again finding extra inventory, I probably wouldn't of spent the kind of money I spent. today. Now I have to go back to work and make some money so I can come back next year and do more shopping. Your store probably won't see this, but if they do... Thank you Natasha. A store is only as good as the salesperson that's helping its customers. I look forward to coming back shopping and having you help me with your style savvy way!!! Lucy
