"Tucked away at the northern end of the Seaport, this old-school steakhouse is one of Manhattan’s main rivals for Brooklyn’s Peter Luger, which is just across the bridge. (Plus, MarkJoseph takes credit cards.) If you don’t love or eat meat it still has its appeal: Namely there's creamed spinach, wedge salads, perfectly whipped potatoes, and asparagus. "

Solid steakhouse tucked away on a side street in the Seaport. I thought the steak was very good and reasonably priced with nice chewy fries. The clams casino were a solid appetizer but the cream spinach was not great. They do charge a CC fee which is always frustrating, especially at this price point

This restaurant delivers on flavor promises. Their culinary excellence is paired with outstanding customer care. Every dish demonstrates good taste. The spot balances nice surroundings with hospitality. This restaurant met every need I had.

MarkJoseph is the best steakhouse in downtown Manhattan, in our opinion. This establishment has been around for close to 25 years and makes amazing steaks. I've had dinner here on three or four occasions over the years and always have had great experiences. Today, I stopped by for a glass of wine and a cappuccino while I was waiting for an appointment. The service at the restaurant was fantastic as usual. If you're looking for a special steak dinner downtown, MarkJoseph is the place to visit!

Google
MarkJoseph is a quality steakhouse in Lower Manhattan. We started with the thick cut bacon appetizer and it was very flavorful. We split the Porterhouse amongst the 3 of us and it was the perfect amount of food. The creamed spinach was good and the steak fries had a nice crisp to them. I’d definitely recommend an espresso or some sorbet after your meal.

Excellent evening here. Have been wanting to dine here for sometime now, special occasion and did not disappoint. Service is excellent,we enjoyed the porterhouse for two and the Caesar salad for two as well. The steak was cooked perfectly, arrived hot and could not have been more tender. I would have given the food five stars but the salad was good but lacked anchovies and fresh parmigian. The cocktails were excellent, a vodka martini and cosmo perfectly fit the bill. Desert, key lime pie was scrumptious. We will most certainly return, prices are reasonable and the value is certainly there

Google
This was a good dinner option. Service was fantastic. Atmosphere was great. A little off the main streets but tables were dressed for fine dining. Had the filet, mashed potatoes and asparagus. One bread roll provided - was good - really felt like a Hawaiian sweet roll though. Butter was too cold to spread. The steak was cooked correctly. The food was okay. Steak was a steak - nothing special. Mashed potatoes tasted like ones I make at home. A bit pricey for the overall taste. Was there for business travel, would not go back as there are lots of other steakhouses to try.

Excellent food. If you happen to be at the bar or at lunch the steak tidbits are amazing and so are the fries. Service with a genuine smile.

The bartender Mike is great. He is very friendly and helpful. Made many good recommendations for food. Also, great dirty martinis 🙏🏻 their fries are delicious and the steak sandwich which you can only order at the bar or lunch is fantastic. Also, I recommend the thick cut Canadian bacon. So good

Yelp
I was visiting New York and had dinner with three close friends from high school Eric Rice, Ronnie Wright and Pete Rierson can't remember what year it was but our bill was around $800. A lot of it was drinking. Eric lived on Manhattan one Hanover Square this place was amazing.

Yelp
Slowest service, bland steak, fishy seafood. Don't waste your money. We were there for dinner this Saturday night 12/7/24. 6pm reservation, at 6:15pm the server took our drink and appetizer orders. Drinks arrived quickly, then he took our dinner order (around 6:30pm). At 7:15pm (an hour after we placed the appetizer order) we had no appetizers and our glasses were all empty. I had to flag down the bus boy (as the waiter kept avoiding our table) to ask about the appetizers and a refill of our drinks. I watched him ask the waiter, who I watched run over to the computer and enter the order. 7:45pm our appetizers arrived. We placed our dinner order at 6:30pm, we received our meals at 8:45pm. It wasn't that busy (there were empty tables). Most of our party ordered steaks, everyone ordered them cooked medium. My daughter's steak was rare, we didn't bother saying anything as it was already 9pm and we weren't even hungry anymore and were exhausted. A steak at a "steakhouse" and it wasn't even cooked properly. All of the steaks were bland - everyone was passing around the salt and pepper. I had the Fra Diavolo and all of the mussels smelled terribly fishy and off- and I didn't dare eat one. I would've said something to the waiter but we didn't see him again until he presented the bill. . The service was awful, the restrooms are an embarrassment - the womens room has 2 toilets, 1 of which was DUCT TAPED at the part where the flushing sensor is AND it didn't flush!!! There were multiple holes in the walls covered with some kind of cheap spackle and sheet rock tape, and the faucets on one of the 2 sinks were not functioning. 2 soap dispensers on the wall, both were broken/missing pieces, so there was an store brand antibacterial soap on the counter. There was also a sad attempt at a Christmas wreath hanging on the wall over us at our table that almost fell on our head multiple times because the wire to plug it in was stretched 10 feet away? Every time the bus boy came by he stepped on the wire which unplugged it (the lights turned off) and it would wobble and almost fall on our head. $140 per person for a mediocre (at best) meal. For that kind of money you would expect good food, good service and a functioning restaurant. That's not at all what's going on at this restaurant. Avoid this place at all costs and spend your money elsewhere, there's no shortage of good steakhouses in the city. I'm assuming the good reviews are from loyal friends & relatives because there is NO way that anyone who isn't a friend or family member of the owner is actually enjoying this hot mess of a restaurant.

Yelp
One of the worst steakhouses in NYC. We have been to numerous restaurants in NYC. My family has owned an Irish Pub in Meatpacking area for over 100 years so we know meat. Stupid mistake, we ordered lamb chops. Dumb idea, they came out cold & raw. Grill chefs need a know their meats. It was disgustingly fatty too. Our waiter was amazing but spending same amount when we could have gone to Old Homestead or somewhere else makes no sense!

Yelp
Always a solid meal at MJs. Never disappointed, the steak and overall experience always provides a delightful atmosphere whether it's a business or personal setting. Over the last 10 years not much has changed and that is a positive given the consistency delivered and overall expectations. Never reluctant for an MJs dinner in rotation. A +

Yelp
I had a fantastic meal at MarkJoseph thanks to a friend's spot-on recommendation. This place feels like an old school traditional steakhouse. The bright white tablecloths contrast with the dark and dimly lit dining room. Enough about the ambiance and on to the food...The steak was superb. I ordered a medium rare bone-in cowboy ribeye. It was cooked perfectly. The steak had a ton of flavor from the char and was delectably juicy. The mashed potatoes were a classic buttery whipped side that paired well with the steak. The server was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. This under the radar steakhouse really exceeded my expectations.

Yelp
Mark Joseph Steakhouse is a nice little steakhouse that has a grown up atmosphere. I came here during the Knicks playoff run and the vibes were perfect. Bartender was attentive and friendly. I ended up ordering a Tomahawk to go with my beer and Martini. Steak was cooked medium rare perfectly and was delicious with plenty of flavor.

Yelp
Little price but their steak quality is superior. Definitely recommend this place for a date

Yelp
I came here with a group of coworkers on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was very empty with only a few patrons at the bar. We were quickly seated and ordered appetizers for the table. We had the Canadian bacon, mozzarella / tomato plate (which the waiter cut up and served for us), fried calamari, and baked clams. For dinner we ended up getting the Porterhouse Steak for 12. The meat came cut and the waiter served it to each of us. We ordered multiple sides (hashbrowns, broccoli, steamed spinach, and mushrooms) and all we served into our plates by the waitstaff. The steamed spinach and the broccoli were very bland. Overall , the food was good and the service was attentive, but not annoying.

Yelp
Met some friends for dinner and they ordered a bunch of food we all split. It was great. First class service and we had a blast. They let my friend bring in his dog which was amazing and the dog ate good too!

Yelp
Great spot near the Seaport, friendly service, great bar! Highly recommended near Fulton Street...!

Robert W.

Yelp
The restaurant it self has good vibes, very low lighting setting. The service is amazing. They cut the steak and service on your plate. All you have to do is eat. The food is amazing, from the steak to the sides. There nothing bad I can say about this place. Would highly recommend. I been here 3 times and I can't wait to come back.

John C.

Yelp
The food was good however the website needs an update as the prices are off. Bone in Ribeye priced at $65 on the website actual price $72. Hash Browns priced at $12 on the website actual price $15. I am sure there are others. Also the website claims the restaurant is open on Sunday. My waiter said the place is closed on Sunday. In my estimation I paid an extra $14 for dinner and you guys owe me a drink. I will be back soon to collect.

Yelp
This review is for their thanksgiving dinner menu! I had heard great things about this place and even follow their social media so this is how I learned about their traditional thanksgiving spread. My parents were in town and wanted something traditional so I made reservations for us on thanksgiving day. It was pretty easy to find street parking. The outside of the restaurant is very unassuming but when you walk in the door you are greeted by an old school steakhouse meets new school vibe. We were seated promptly and the restaurant was very quiet initially. We ordered a couple of glasses of red wine and my dad an old fashioned, which he was very happy with. We started with the roasted butternut squash soup for my mom and myself, which was the perfect flavor, very smooth, and overall yummy. My dad had the Caesar salad. They brought out the plate of thanksgiving spread which was perfect! The turkey was nice and juicy, not a hint of dry was. The Brussels sprouts were fabulous. The sweet potato was perfect. The stuffing was very moist, although I'm not a big stuffing fan anyway. The cranberry sauce was also amazing, I could have just scooped it and ate it directly! For dessert there was a pumpkin cheesecake pie and it was the highlight of the whole meal! Apparently it was a first time in the menu and I must say I sure hope it sticks around! I could have eaten another slice easily. The service was fantastic, our server attentive without hovering too much. We were also greeted by the son of Mark, I don't remember his name but he was very friendly with a great personality. The restaurant got very loud from the large party next to us, which was no one's fault but the party. I'll definitely be back for dinner and a nice steak!

Yelp
Always amazing service and fantastic food! This is one of my most favorite steakhouses in NYC. Great family style service, great location at South Street Seaport, easy access from BK, FDR and Holland Tunnel. I highly recommend going for a memorable and delicious group and family high end steak experience.

Yelp
Excellent Experience! We took advantage of Restaurant week and we visited this beautiful Restaurant. We were checking for a nice restaurant to go to lunch, this one was one of the top in the Restaurant week list for Steak. We made reservations through the restaurant week website. Everything was great Hostess friendly , great website, Fast servers and Excellent presentation. The food was limited to the Restaurant week Menu but was on formidable! A little sad they don't have a drinks Menu , I love to try new drinks LOL. Food Sirloin Steak - 5 of 5 - Great portion and was very well cook Salmon 5 of 5 - Excellent taste ! Kudos to the chef Drinks Martinis - 5 of 5 Excellent One thing , if you want to come to enjoy these restaurants during restaurant Week you need to have in Mind that The Menu is fixed to a couple of plates that maybe are their popular or not. Just check the Menu before you go to a restaurant so you don't get frustrated because you don't like what you see. Everything was excellent

Yelp
Cam here a few weeks ago for Restaurant Week and finally getting around to writing a review. We came here on the literal coldest night of the year and the warm, comforting environment was very appreciated. I started with the Baked Clams app and they were lovely little clams with a great bread crumb topping. The sirloin was one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. Perfect medium rare, great crust and sliced with butter spooned over the top. I gnawed on the bone after it was that good. The sides of Mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were also very good. The mini chocolate brownie sundae was a great way to end this decadent meal.Perfect size. I would have to say this was the best steakhouse meal I have had and will definitely be returning soon.

Yelp
Review for restaurant week. It is $39 for your choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert on a prefix menu. Came with a party of 11 altogether with a 7:15pm reservation. We were seated promptly. Service was slow, as it took awhile to get a piece of bread to start. The bread was nothing special. I ordered the lobster bisque soup, sirloin steak (14 oz, medium rare), and brownie sundae. The lobster bisque soup wasn't bad, but did not blow me away. It is more on the lighter side, not thick at all. I wish they gave some crackers to accompany it. Moving onto the steak, I had high hopes from reading some great reviews. They do serve the steak and cut it for you which was very nice of them. However, the steak was way too tough. My friends all said the same for theirs. It does look better with a nice reddish/pink center than it actually tastes. It was not juicy and the sauces they provided tasted like ketchup. Perhaps if there was a better sauce, it could have saved the steak BUT a good steak should not need any sauce. The entree does come with creamy spinach and mashed potatoes. It was passable, but nothing memorable. One of friends got the lobster mac and cheese and there was literally no pieces of lobster in it, just lobster specs. Someone ordered baked clams for their appetizer and there were four tiny pieces and mostly just tasted like bread crumbs that it was coated with. Thank goodness we did not pay full price for this meal. Would I ever be back? No. Take your money elsewhere, as there are so many steakhouses in the city that are better.

Yelp
This is the type of joint that, unless Daddy Warbucks is visiting, I simply cannot afford. Que Restaurant Week. $49 for a 3 course, 5 dollar sign, classic NY steakhouse meal. Me personally, I chose baked clams (3/5), Sirloin (10/5), and mini brownie (3/5). The Sirloin (in classic steakhouse fashion) came with a personal side of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach (both 5/5, and representing everything you expect in a steakhouse-- nothing more, nothing less). There's also $8 house wine (cha-ching) and overpriced espresso drinks (to accompany dessert) if you want the whole experience (I say go for it). Not to brag, but allow me to brag: I know a lot about steak. Where I grew up, I competed in what they call, "Meat Judging." State Champion, in fact. I ate steak at minimum once a week and had high cholesterol at age 10. All that to say-- I know good steak and THIS is good steak. If you can get a SIRLOIN and still be blown away, you know they're doing something right. It's all about the preparation-- broiled in butter on a scalding plate, pre-sliced and ready to eat. Don't forget the grease-- spoon it on top of your meat; better than any A1 or competitor. If you ask for anything more than Medium Rare, you're doing it wrong. So, if you're cheap like me, take advantage of the Restaurant Week deal- it is simply a fine establishment.

Yelp
Very disappointed!! First off, restaurant was empty and service was terrible.... slow and not friendly. Beyond over priced..... 348.00 for 2 with only 4 drinks! Food was salty and boring for the price.

Yelp
I was looking for a good place to have a steak dinner and Mark Joseph Steakhouse was recommended. I wasnt disappointed at all. My filet came out cooked perfectly and was delicious. The service was great and servers were attentive. It also had a great ambiance for a dinner date or group setting and outside seating was also available.

Holly K.

Yelp
This was the first steakhouse I came across when I moved to NYC (located in Seaport). After seeing all of the Michelin and Zagat and other miscellaneous award stickers on the front door, I had really high hopes for this place (not to mention the great Yelp reviews). I was slightly disappointed in my overall meal. I ordered the surf and turf- the 12 oz filet mignon and the the lobster tail. The steak was great quality (no fat) and cooked to a perfect medium rare; I thought it lacked any seasoning though (I never have to salt my own steak at steakhouses). Their "homemade steak sauce" tasted like ketchup to me, and I preferred not to use it. I also thought the lobster was bland, and lacked ALL seasoning and flavor. It was over cooked and was chewy. The side of mashed potatoes were delicious, and finally something had seasoning. Not worth the expensive price tag, I would not return.

Elaine C.

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week with friends. I've apparently been here years ago but I only remember the bull in front of the restaurant. LOL The steak was good but a bit chewy. The lobster soup was good flavor but very little lobster in it. Baked clams was really good if you don't mind the seafood-ness of it. Bacon was good but why did it come with ketchup? LOL Fresh berries and brownies was alright too. I honestly don't feel wow-ed enough to come back. Probably why I don't remember what I ate here years ago. Nothing memorable. I've had tastier steak elsewhere. Sorry!

Michelle T.

Yelp
One of my favorite steakhouse and the best restaurant week deal in town. Every year this is on our must go restaurant week list and it never disappoints. The mark Joseph steak comes out perfectly while the appetizers are always amazing. One year for restaurant week it came with lobster bisque, and this year was baked clams. All so delicious and fresh. The steak is always cooked on point bathed in its special sauce. For dessert, who wouldn't love a warm chocolate brownie with an ice cream sundae on top ?

David M.

Yelp
Mark Joseph's Steak house was one of my favorites back in the day! A NYC classic. I went today for lunch sat at the bar, and sat, and sat, and sat some more sat there for at least 15 minutes there was no one behind the bar. I watched the waiters walk by with trays of food no one acknowledged me sitting at the bar. I asked a waiter if the bar was open his response was 'Give me a minute' after waiting 15 minutes and no acknowledgement you want a minute lol please! I got up and left. I won't be coming here any time soon way too many restaurants in the city to choose from. That actually has good service. Give me a minute he said lol I'll give you a minute in a minute I'll be out the door. Poor, Poor service!

Haley M.

Yelp
This is easily the worst dining experience I've had in the city. I publish a restaurant review every month and wooo, do I have something to write about this month. We told the staff that we had a show to get to and had to be out the door at 8:40... not until I got up and went to the kitchen (because the staff was fully avoiding us) was I just offered to cancel my food after waiting an hour and a half. A rude hostess and lovely, but helpless staff, this meal was an incredible disappointment of service. And the food. Fatty steak, my sea bass in "beurre blanc" sauce was fish in lemonade juice. Ugh. Good service makes up for sub par food, but unfortunately we got neither. Recognizing they messed up and comping SOMETHING was appropriate. Nope. Full price.

Vera D.

Yelp
Probably one of the worst meals I've ever had!! Food was horrible. Baked clams had to be sent back. Everything else we ordered was too salty. Nothing special for the price. Save your money

Nelson L.

Yelp
Great service. Friendly staff all around but the steak is just "eh". The other menu items are good. Pork Chop is THE thing to get here.

Yelp
I was expecting more from my experience at MarkJoseph. A friend and I came with a reservation for 7pm on a Friday during Restaurant Week. The hostess was a doll, and we were seated promptly. Our waiter (receipt says his name was Hugh) wasn't particularly friendly, but got the job done. He would come by without a greeting and stare at my friend and me intently until we acknowledged him. Also, there were a few fruit flies flying around throughout the meal, one of which landed in my wine. When I informed the waiter, he responded with a flat tone "okay," and just took away the glass. He did return, wordless, with a new glass of wine but it tasted watered down. Food was just okay. We ordered both from the regular menu (lobster bisque, $10 and mussels, $15) as well as the RW menu (prix fixe app, entree, and dessert, $42 and wine, $8/glass). The RW wine options were Dante Cabernet or Pinot Grigio (the Cabernet was much better). Our RW menu selections were the Cesar salad, baked clams, salmon, filet mignon, berries and cream, and mini sundae. Everything was fine, but nothing was especially impressive, not even the filet, which was a little sinewy and tough. All in all, 2 RW meals including a couple of non-RW menu apps and 4 glasses of RW wine ran us about $180 after tax and tip. Not the best RW deal, esp considering the food quality and mediocre service.

Glenn C.

Yelp
Note: This review is for Restaurant week and their steak quality might be/probably is (well hopefully is) much higher for dinner/lunch. If it was anything similar, I am not sure if I am shocked more at the average ratings here or how long they have been open for how remote they are. The fact that the bread and appetizer were by far the best things is not a good thing for a steakhouse. The rest of the group agreed as well. All that aside: Pre-meal: I got a Old Fashioned made with Bulleit from their excellent bartender. It was 18 dollars + tax which is fine for a steak house. The drink had a light spice kick from something else muddled in there which was unique and quite good. I'd get one again if i was to ever go back. As a large group, we all ordered the restaurant week prix fixe menu for $42 which is low compared to their usual steak menu (50's to 70's to a lot higher for steaks for two or more.) The waiters which took a while to come over eventually for our orders and then served us some very good looking bread. While I would say that even a lot of steakhouses don't have memorable bread, the one here was a bit of an exception. It was quite soft and buttery. There was a nice taste of onions and black pepper. One of the people eventually asked for more and surprisingly compared to a lot of other places, the waitress was not super nice about it and said we'd see whether that would be OK. Eventually more came by but it left a bit of a sour taste. Appetizer: Most of us ordered the Canadian bacon or baked clams. I'd recommend the former especially if the clams is as tiny as it looked as part of the main menu. While it was delicious, it needed some carbs or something to cut down on the richness (which is why the bread was requested) and lacked any extra flavoring. It was good bacon but I don't understand why it is famous. (Mi)steak: I personally ordered the 12oz sirloin medium-rare and the group itself was split between the sirloin and the filet mignon. While the sirloin portion was massive; especially for a prix fixe; I found the meat to be very chewy with a lot of non-rendered fat and sinew. The one exception was a piece still attached to the bone. The meat was mixed between medium and medium rare with one piece being on the more rare end somehow. While sirloin doesn't always tend to be the juiciest cut, I shouldn't think of using steak sauce in a fancy place like this. I personally haven't had this bad a steak for a fancy place since Gallagher's but at least the steak here was prix fixe. The generic sides of non-buttery mashed potatoes and sad sauteed spinach didn't help either. I tried the filet from someone else who also ordered their steak the same temperature and it was much better. I would have been happy with the latter. Dessert: A tiny dessert barely the size of my palm came out last. Along with a tiny very normal brownie, a probably homemade whipped cream and some (most likely) Ghiradelli chocolate sauce topped it. The other people had the rest of their options with similar portions whether it be a tiny scoop of ice cream or a small handful of berries with a mini dollop of whipped cream. The dessert was like the rest of the meal, forgettable and lacking in quality for price. Overall: Even for 42$, I don't see this place as being any good and I hope it's not close to this at normal prices or this is easily one of the biggest ripoffs in the city. I understand cutting corners due to restaurant week but if you are going to have to serve steaks of this low a quality, there's no point in being part of this tradition. The filet and bread were good but there's better and way cheaper without the surly service. 1.6; only since it was restaurant week and I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Yelp
Been a steady customer since it opened 23-years ago. Never disappoints. Last night 4 of us shared shrimp cocktail, bacon slabs, Caesar salad and two porterhouse steaks cooked to a perfect medium rare, creamed spinach and fried onions. In other words a typical steakhouse meal. What set it apart it apart was that each was spot on. This place never disappoints. Service is highly professional unobtrusive but highly attentive. Over the years I have sampled numerous menu items and none have been less than delicious. When I need a change up I have their seafood fra diavlo over pasta. A delight.

Eric M.

Yelp
This place was everything you'd imagine a NYC steakhouse to be. The food was excellent, but the prices reflected as such. Definitely not your daily dining spot, but if you're looking for a place to impress, this is your honey hole. The service was impeccable, and the food was cooked to order. Drinks were all on point. Everything is a la carte for the most point, so don't expect to walk out full without your wallet being relatively empty. Think $75 to $150 per person, especially if you plan to order drinks.

Susan M.

Yelp
Service was good, the food a disappointment. We had been here before and was great. The bacon app was tough and burnt. Tuna clearly frozen and overcooked. Drinks meh!

Yelp
We've made MarkJoseph our go-to for Restaurant Week 2 years in a row and enjoyed every minute of it! Last year, our family took up a table for 10 and this year my other sister joined us with her brood for a total of 15. We were seated at the same table both times, but this year they had to extend it with another one. Despite the large group, we were taken care of extremely well from making the reservation, to greeting by the hostess and by the outstanding waitstaff. The RW prix fixe menu includes a 3 course dinner with some nice choices. For appetizer, your choices are Mixed Greens, Caesar Salad, Baked Clams or Sizzling Canadian Bacon. Grab your posse and you can share different apps. Main course choices are Bell & Evans Roast Chicken, Wild Salmon Fillet (8oz), Filet Mignon (8oz), Sirloin Steak (20oz) or Lobster Mac & Cheese. All main courses come with Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Spinach sides, except the Mac & Cheese. It's safe to say that we had just about ALL of the above (except maybe the chicken), plus my other sister wanted to try their Jumbo Lump Crabcake. I think last year one of the choices was Lamb Chops, but was not available this year. I really loved how the Sirloin was served. Mine was cooked medium-rare (as steak should be done), sizzling in a pool of crackling butter, individually sliced off the bone with nice pink centers in each slice. I can't think of a better way to eat a steak. Then afterward with no regard for niceties, I was gnawing on the bone to get the last bits of flavor. My sister's dog was not getting this one. Finishing off the meal with a choice of dessert were Warm Brownie Sundae, Scoop of Ice Cream (Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry or Pistachio) or Mixed Berries & Cream. I don't know how they made the homemade whipped cream, but it was the densest whipped cream I've ever seen, even thicker than Kool Whip. This ranks up there with some of the best dining experiences I've had in NYC and we'll be back for some future family gathering or occasion to indulge in some high-end meat!

Brad B.

Yelp
Under Covid they have a great outdoor dining. I had what I called their signature dish the Canadian bacon and a glass of great Cabernet . The staff is terrific and the food never disappoints.

Yelp
We always think of MarkJoseph Steakhouse especially when it comes to restaurant week. The thought of its bacon and steak simply had kept me up at night until now. Menu was decent without some crazy surcharge. We got a late time slot (8:15pm) as the restaurant was busy probably due to tonight being the last day of RW plus it's a Friday night. As usual, all of us opted for bacon and the 20oz sirloin steak. Bacon: it was just done perfectly with the right amount of fat. Yummm! Sirloin steak: although the portion seemed a bit smaller compared to the previous years, we were actually so full that some of us almost had food coma. It also came with cream spinach and mash potato. Dessert: half of us got the fresh berries and the other half got ice cream (chocolate and mango). Pistachio flavor was offered last year but it wasn't this time. They were small but was just enough for us. PS: the steak sauce was awesome! Great for the steak and even the bread. Look forward to next time.

We've been coming here for over 15yrs and always spend an astronomical amount of money! Today we came in from Brooklyn specifically FOR MY BIRTHDAY and asked for a burger in addition to all the other items we ordering. I was told if I wanted to order the burger I had to get up from the table we were already situated at and having our drinks and we had to go eat at the bar with all the other food that we were ordering. Did I mention the restaurant only had 3 other people and was totally EMPTY. The waiter stated the decision was made by someone he "texted" in HR since there was no in-house manager at the moment, that doesn't even make sense!!! It's unfortunate that after being a a CONSISTENT and LOYAL customer for over a decade, we will not be back... AND we will notify all the individuals that we know that go there including the local businesses since we work in the financial district. We will no longer support MJ's!

Yelp
My friend & I decided to give these guys a try during restaurant week, we came in & were seated right away. Drinks we tried some red wine suggested by our waiter, it was good went well with our food. The start u off with some nice bread, good on it's own even better with some butter on it. Appetizers we had the Caesar salad & Canadian bacon, very good salad nice taste to the dressing the Canadian bacon was delicious nice & crispy went perfectly well with our salad. Main dishes we had the Filet mignon & the Lobster Mac & cheese. Steak was cooked just right, nice taste seasoned well, the mac was very good nice decent portion, good taste to the mac I am not a huge lobster fan but put it together with mac & cheese & it makes a great dish. As for the restaurant not the best location? pretty hidden .. inside decent bar area & dinning. service was good they tend to come around a lot asking if everything is ok or if U want something else always appreciate good service although it's a little distracting. Decent price since it was restaurant week, normal prices are on the high end, we enjoyed our meal I wouldn't mind coming back for that bacon!

Yelp
My friend and I had a wonderful experience at this steak house. We were both very surprised at the generous portions given that some establishments serve smaller portions for restaurant week. The service was phenomenal. Food was delicious. The lobster bisque was creamy and had plenty of large chunks of lobster. The steak was cooked to perfection. I'd highly recommend you add this steakhouse to your list.

Yelp
Not our first time here. We used to go to Mark Joseph, every now and again. Always a great experience. I was desiring a steak. I hadn't had a steak in 13 yrs due to dietary restrictions. But I was able to have one, and thought of no other place to have a juicy steak. We started off with the chopped wedge salad. They served us nice warm rolls with butter. We decided to share the two entrees. I ordered the cowboy ribeye! My husband had the Chilean sea bass. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked so perfectly! The service was excellent.

Yelp
Nice spot but it's kinda hidden. I would give it 5/5 but the service is very slow. I got there at 1 and by the time I got my food and paid it was 245. Don't recommend if you want to go quick. I got the filet. It had a great outside char to it. And the potato's were creamy. But the baked clams were to die for! Recommend those! For to dessert i finished off with brownie Sunday. Highly Recommend but if you have awhile to wait. Def not a go at work lunch like I did.

Yelp
Excellent steak house off the beaten path, just a few blocks from the seaport! I went in for lunch a couple of Fridays ago for restaurant week with my sister and I'm so happy I did. The restaurant is clean, dimly it (my fav), well decorated, and doesn't seem as stiff as some other steak houses I've been too. There's a bar where you can grab a drink and watch the game without lurking over someone's table, which is nice and there is dining room seating for small and large groups. I made a ressy for 12:15 and we were seated right away and given menus. My sis and I scanned the menu quickly and knew what we wanted instantly since the restaurant week menu is prefixed. As soon as the waiter came to us we told him we were going to do restaurant week and he kind of scoffed at us and said "no way really" very sarcastically, which was a turn off (don't judge me, dude I'm still a paying custy!). We awkwardly laughed and put in our order which was identical for the most part; baked clams, filet mignon (medium), and chocolate ice cream (for me). We were served 4 lovely lightly breaded baked clams that were piping hot, and a sloppy entree dish with a delectable piece of filet mignon and mashed potatoes. I know its restaurant week but come on put some effort into the plating, I'm not asking for my name written in steak sauce or anything just a dish prepared with love! Aside from the effortless plating (that I can't get over), the steak was great, it was like cutting into butter, and the mashed were super creamy and nicely seasoned. I used a bit of their steak sauce, which has a strong tomato base, I say that because I didn't like it at first, but then it grew on me and I put it on everything. The ice cream was DELISH, I'm not sure if they make their own whip cream or if its a brand, whatever it was I cannot stop thinking about. The whipped was so creamy and rich, it really complemented the chocolate scoop of ice cream that I practically inhaled. 4-stars for poor plating and poor manners by the waiter, but overall a must-try!

Yelp
I ordered a ribeye steak dinner on May 1 and it was possibly the worst steak dinner I've ever eaten. The steak was so tough I couldn't cut the steak, let alone chew it. The waiter was of no help. Service was extremely slow even though there were only a few patrons in the restaurant. I ended up taking two or three bites and leaving the restaurant after paying $112.14. I will never return.

Yelp
Tis tis to us and blasphemy because we went to a steakhouse and did not order any meat dishes. But a well rounded restaurant that sells many seafood dishes one would expect that they are strong dishes. It was an odd hour more like aperitif hour so we sat at the bar. Service top notch!! So that was not disappointing. Drinks were great as well. Food was the downer. We had scallops which was the best part of the entire order. The calamari were chewy and dry. The lobster mac n cheese not cheesy and lobster was nonexistent but for some red bits on top. I will try the steak next time and see if I need to update this. But for now based on these foods it's just another ok spot in the Seaport.

Yelp
Really delicious. Had the stuffed clams as appetizer and then the amazing sizzling sir loin steak medium rare. Boy was it medium rare and juicy. Service was good and will return for sure!

Yelp
This is where to go for the true N.Y. steakhouse experience. I have found them to be consistent, unlike their more well-known competitors.

Yelp
Been here a few times for business dinners and it trumps Peter Lugers. The restaurant is very goodfellas esque and it's one of the best steaks I've ever had. As a Texan, that's hard to do. The waitstaff is always on top of it and the vibe is extremely intimate.

Yelp
This place was empty. Okay, it was an off night BUT... I guess their kitchen had a VERY off night too. Sat at the bar. The barman was fine enough. Nice, attentive, and accommodating. Ordered - Calamari & Burger - medium-rare. Both were sawdust. No flavor whatsoever. Zero. Texture - well, like sawdust. Period. What with all of the competition in the area, these guys have got to step up their game. They really cannot call themselves a steak house and have a burger that is so damn awful. Any other steakhouse in NYC and in the area has a great one. They should too; especially being off the beaten path, as they are. Perhaps their steaks are better...? perhaps. I always try to gauge a restaurant, so if they can't do a burger right??? Whelp... You won't see me come back for anything else. Get it together kitchen!!

Yelp
We went here for ThanksGiving and were not disappointed in any way.  My bone-in ribeye was done perfectly.  My wife's Seabass Beurre Blanc was one of the best she has ever had.  She said she could eat it every day and be happy with that.  Our thanks to your Chef and staff for a wonderful meal.   There's a nice view from the park nearby and it was an easy walk from the Residence Inn in the Wall Street district.

Yelp
Came here and had a wonderful family meal! It consisted of the Filet Mignon, Pork Chops, and Salmon. We also had Spinach, Broccoli Rabe, and Asparagus. The French Onion soup was delish! Overall, a great place to take the family for a quality meal.
