"People love this speakeasy for its quirky entrance: a pink, neon-lit bodega straight out of a Wes Anderson movie. Walk through a key-shaped back door and you'll enter the main bar area, complete with checkered floors, a tropical mural, and a gleaming lacquered bar that turns out cheekily named cocktails such as the Lady Bird, a concoction of vodka, nashi pear, thyme, Strega, anisette, and lemon—described on the menu as "A much tastier coping mechanism than throwing yourself out of a moving car." - Todd Plummer

I've been here quite a few times now over the years, and have always had a good time. I'm not sure if Mahjong considers itself a speakeasy, but there's not too much of a ritual or any passwords or anything to getting in at the front. They ask you right away if you have a reservation to get in. The space in the back is a nice vibe. I like the checkered floors, dim warm lighting, and decor in general. Definitely, the place is more enjoyable when it's later at night and busier with people. Their drinks are alright. Had the Peach Bonfire, which was a nice mix of a bit of sweet and some spice. The fuzzy peach garnish though was stale. Also tried the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, which was pretty liquor forward for me. Wish it was more balanced/ nuanced. It can be expensive - it was $50 for those two drinks, all in.

Mahjong Bar is such hidden gem! The entrance through the bodega is super fun and gives the whole place a hidden, speakeasy vibe. Once you’re inside, the atmosphere is amazing—from lighting, great music, and a really cozy but trendy feel. The cocktails are so good! They’re creative and taste awesome, plus they look great too. The staff is super friendly and really know their stuff when it comes to recommending drinks. The snacks were perfect for sharing and went so well with everything we ordered. Highly recommend.

Went on a Thursday in January. It was just myself and three other people for my birthday. Cocktails and food were so good! Service was lovely and they made the whole experience wonderful so thank you to the staff at Mahjong! Looks like things get super cool later into the night. Can’t wait to return✨

Went here for a night out with my girls. This bar is a vibe! Make sure to eat before you come. There’s not a lot of food options and the portions are on the smaller end. We ordered the duck rolls and it was disappointing. It was small and didn’t taste any duck, just the hoisin sauce. If you want a table, make sure to reserve a table a week beforehand. The service was alright, you can sense the urge from the servers to order more. Two tables beside us were asked to leave because they weren’t ordering enough. My friends and I waited for the dj and he wasn’t great, can be better!

A cozy, dimly lit bar perfect for cocktail lovers. The skilled bartenders craft inventive drinks like the with fresh ingredients. But, the cherry on top is really the friendly staff that make it an ideal spot for a great night out - specifically, the hostess PJ was absolutely amazing and single-handedly made our Valentine’s Day a night to remember

I’ve come here on a few different occasions with different friend groups and the experience is great every time. Cocktails are yummy. They play great music. Lee is always incredibly kind and accommodating. I can’t wait to try the food!

General advice: Eat before you come! They serve great cocktails. The Strawberry soju was a hit at our table, everyone ordered twice. However, the food was disappointing. It serves a similar style to Chinese take-out, but the price is obviously unmatched. Please do not waste your money on ordering food. Just get drinks and cute pictures 💖

The bartenders gave really great service! They asked me what I was looking for and offered to customize a drink for me which was very kind of them. The drinks were pretty expensive though- $20 for a marg. They play really good music and have a dance floor. Ambiance was really good too. However, many people at this bar came here to chat- nobody was dancing! This is a bar known for dancing which is why I came here. There are so many bars in the area to sit down and chat. If you're going to come here to chat and not DANCE please just go to another bar, it ruins the vibe and experience for others looking to have fun.
