"Lockdown Bar & Grill, the prison-themed dive that specializes in burgers, will close next month after the owner unsuccessfully tried to sell the business. Owner PJ Zonis said he needs the break after nine years of running the restaurant. March 1 will be the last day of service at 1024 N. Western Avenue. Lockdown opened in 2010 with big burgers with names like “Arson” and “Hawaii 5.0” while playing loud metal on the sound system. It was easy to compare it to Kuma’s Corner, which opened four years before and was still crowded with customers in Avondale. Lockdown was decorated with subversive art and graffiti. Pretty damn good! Food and service are great and the crazy heavy metal-jail theme with heavy-death metal music playing loud and proud is killer! Didn't try any of their beer or other drinks but they do have a huge selection. Prices on food are a bit high but the quality and quantity are definitely there. Overall a great experience! Will definitely be back if in the area in the future!

Someone came up to me at a party and raved about the burgers at Lockdown. Seriously, an unsolicited food rec always gets me excited. Took me about two weeks but finally made it. My wife got the flight, included the fat Elvis, cruelty to animals and border patrol. I got a build your own burger, just the basics for me when I am trying to compare burgers from different restaurants. Kind of disappointing, the burgers we tried were just ok and nothing special. I would not venture back for them. Nice hole in the wall bar, friendly staff and the mac and cheese is a must if you like the mac and cheese you grew up with. The Nola summer, hot tea drink I think I would go back just for that drink. Not too pricey, two meals and drink about $60.

I'll start off with the good. The place has an awesome heavy metal atmosphere similar to a burger joint like Kuma's Corner. Their prison theme makes for a fun to read menu which has a ton of variety. Our waiter was really freindly and was very attentive until it got busy 30 minutes in. I did have a few issues. I ordered a bomb pop martini which had great presentation. Unfortunately it was FAR too sweet (almost undrinkable). I ordered The Fat Elvis which is a burger topped with peanut butter and bannana. The parts with the peanut butter were good, but once I took bites with banana, it was overpowering. I found myself drinking water to get out the after taste. The last issue was that my friend ordered boneless buffalo wings and it was covered with lime. Aside from that they do have quality ingredients. The meat patty was juicy, the bacon was thick and crispy, and the pretzel bun was soft. Everyone else loved their burgers. If your a fan of really spicy food, take on the arson burger. Despite this places flaws, I would give this place another shot.

METAL AND CHEESEBURGERS!!! Whats better?!?! Excellent atmosphere and service. Prices are kinda jacked, but its worth a visit once in a while. I tried the Stoned Warden. Effin incredible! Id say the food is better than Kumas for sure.

Top 5 Burger joint 👐down. Great atmosphere during the day with Rock music playing in background can get randomly packed but worth the wait ...And definitely get a few cake balls/pops 🤗✔️💯.
