To help decide which bottle to wrap up and take home, head to a tasting at Lo de Joaquín Alberdi in Palermo Soho. At 5 p.m. daily, the vinoteca offers tastings (in Spanish and English) where you’ll learn about the country’s main wine-growing regions. We stopped in on a Monday evening at the recommendation of a friend and had an absolutely fabulous impromptu wine tasting with Francisco. We’d just arrived in Buenos Aires and couldn’t have asked for a better start to our trip. We sampled several lovely, unusual (for us!) wines that we never would have found on our own. We were also given a thorough and engaging description of the wine regions around Argentina that are producing such fantastic wines. My knowledge of Argentinian wines is still limited (but growing), and after this visit, my enthusiasm is high. Will absolutely be back for the more formal tasting! Highly, highly recommended. Amazing location and staff!

I had an impromptu wine tasting here and wow…. I can’t say enough good things about this place… the owner and staff are super welcoming and friendly. Their wine knowledge are off the charts! Highly recommend to anyone interested in tasting incredible Argentinian wine while learning about them as well. Will absolutely be back soon.

Thank you, Jose! We didn’t have a reservation for the tasting and were too late anyways, but he spent an hour with us explaining and sampling the different wines. Plus we got many recommendations for the rest of our trip, so all in all a wonderful experience!

We stopped by the shop for impromptu wine tasting without knowing you need to make a reservation! But Francisco was so kind and let us sample a few bottles and cheese which we ended up bringing some home. We had a great time chatting with him and Jose, who are also very knowledgeable about Argentinian wine. Highly recommend you to visit this place and have a tasting with them!

The whole experience at Ja! is amazing! Joaquin, the owner, is extremely welcoming and makes you feel comfortable right away. He’s a lot more concerned with making sure you have a great experience and feel appreciated than with you actually buying wine, but from personal experience, they go hand in hand at this place. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a great tasting or a high quality wine.

Shelves filled with every wine producing region in Argentina, from the best known to small producers in places not yet known to the masses. They even safely pack or ship to you. Joaquín is an Argentinian wine walking encyclopedia and a very funny guy, he'll help you find what you are looking for and at the price range you want. There's even a small display fridge with artisan cheese and marmalade selections that can be paired to your wines.
