La Taqueria Pinche Taco

A small but mighty taco restaurant that focuses on quality food and service rather than vibes. The price was fair for the food, and the server was friendly enough. We got the tortilla soup, the 3 taco combos consisting of Baja, Carnitas, and Asada, and the chilaquiles. They were all fantastic and would recommend without hesitation. We finished off the meal with the churros which were hot and fresh out of the fryer. My only comment is that there isn't enough churros but that's probably a good thing for my health. Overall, if you're walking along Hastings, this is a place you have to check out!

I came back to La Taqueria on Hastings and tried the Carne Asada Chicken Bowl, and it did not disappoint! It’s a delicious, great-value dish with a perfect combination of rice, beans, avocado, AAA beef, pico de gallo, and crema. Every bite was packed with flavor, and adding a touch of hot sauce gave it a great kick. This is gonna be one of my go-to bowls with my Mexican food craving. I also had the Shrimp Taco, which was fantastic. The soft shell taco wrap was a winner which has the corn flavour, and the sauce on the marinated fried shrimp had a smoky, barbecue-like taste that complemented beautifully. The cheddar cheese was a bit salty for my taste, and I think Monterey Jack might make it even better, but overall, it was still a delicious taco and having the same cheese is not gonna bother me at all. Closed the appetite with an order of churros which was crispy and soft in the inside with a custard sauce on the side. I left happy from this place. Service was great. Cozy little place. Food was amazing! 😍 We had tacos pastor and carnitas. Both were incredible. We nodded while eating the first taco, a sign of food that completely hits the spot. Had the jalapeno marg (okay, two) -- so good. Wish I lived here so I could visit all the time. Thanks for the great tacos and drinks!

While in vancouver for a concert, we decided to arrive early and find some dinner near the venue. We wandered and found this little place! We were hesitant at first but SO glad we stopped to eat. We got nachos, and tacos- The Pastor and Asada. Amazing! Everything tasted great, service was fast and everyone was so friendly!

Excellent tacos and burrito. I was given a sample taste of the homemade Mexican drinks and loved the Horchata drink (cinnamon milk tea) which goes well with the spicy food.

We got 3 Tacos lunch deal for 15.99 and Guacamole with Chips. They were amazing and delicious. The braised beef taco was fantastic.

Ok, as you know I love to write reviews about the reality of each restaurant. On this occasion, I order: Quesadillas chilangas 6/10 The dug wasn’t cooked. Pozole 1/10 The meat was old and dry. The corn was hard, the pozole was spicy, a bunch of oregano and they didn't give us lime, the worst part was that it was cold. Churros 10/10 really good option. Jamaica water 10/10. I was very happy to visit the place because I had been to La Taqueria at Brentwood Mall (which is one of my fav Mexican restaurants) but this experience was pleasant. The service was good, but you need to train the staff they don't know how to approach, ask, and be friendly. The place is really small but I like it. Will I be back? I doubt it.

A cozy place making amazing tacos. Three tacos made a good meal: pastor (personal favorite), Baja fish, and asada. Three very different flavors, and all perfect. The corn tortillas on the pastor and asada were also delicious. The service is also very good, and the staff is friendly with a fun buzz from the kitchen.

Small place, bar/kitchen as soon as you enter, small seating area in the back for approximately 12-15 diners with bar counter seating for additional 10 diners. Mexican music in the background, dark with exposed brick walls Pork belly taco, pork was crispy and juicy Chicken enchilada plate was filling, 2 enchiladas covered with queso, red sauce and pickled onions which gave the dish another flavor dimension Shrimp was succulent but could have used a little more flavor. The Verde sauce with the fried cheese taco was excellent with a very strong flavor profile. Both desserts were done perfectly, empanada was sugary, light and flaky. The lemon ice cream cake was a gift from heaven. A nice neighborhood mom & pop establishment that should not be ignored

The best tacos we've had! Service was very quick as well. We got our food within minutes of ordering. Fresh, delicious, and portioned well, and served in a warm and intimate atmosphere. A must try in downtown!

Easy to miss with the construction but small taqueria as have been several times but forget to write reviews so went yesterday for happy hour. We had their weekly special margarita which was lavendar margarita, it was so pretty and very good. We also ordered the spicy margarita on tap which we asked is different to their jalapeño margarita on their regular menu as that is made to order, where as the spicy margarita is pre-made batch. I ordered the verde enchiladas which were ok, the chicken was very little, as the portion was smaller than what I would have expected for $20. I've had their fish & shrimp tacos dining in and take away which you cannot go wrong.

I would say 3 stars mainly for the service and staff. They were all really welcoming, friendly, and fast. The Line was long but moved quickly, be aware that this is a tiny tiny restaurant. I feel it may be a bit unfair to say this but coming from Southern CA where we have Amazing Mexican food.... The food here was a major miss for me. The tortillas were too thick and hard, the meats for the tacos were bland and the construction of the taco was terrible because every time you take a bite it leaks like crazy. It didn't taste like real Mexican food to me. However, Being in Vancouver, I would assume it's very hard to find good authentic mexican food... but you can tell that they tried. If you are looking for authenticity, I wouldn't say you'd find it here but if you were looking for a quick place to grab a few beers or drinks with friends, it seems like a fun place for that.

Great Lengua Tacos , Asada meat has to be cut into smaller pieces. Was just a slice of meat on the taco. Good ambiance for the small seating.

Great gluten-free asada tacos. They weren't what I was used to, being raised in So Cal, but definitely one of the best tacos I've ever had. Great seasoning, loads of meat, tasty corn tortillas and friendly service.

La Taqueria exceeded my expectations on my first visit. The tacos were fresh, flavourful, and packed with delicious fillings. The service was both friendly and quick. I especially loved their unique salsas and the variety of vegetarian options. I can't wait to try more items on their menu next time!

Hands down one of the best, if not the best tacos You will find in Vancouver. The best taco for me: fish tacos. They were done perfectly. Fish was breaded and friend amazingly. Full of flavour. Beef barbacoa was good too, together with the al pastor. Too bad we were still full from lunch or else, i would ordered every taco possible. Meats werent dry or stale. Very juicy and succulent. You can tell there's a taco master at the helm. It was like ordering tacos from the streets of mexico. That good, yes! Tacos were loaded with fresh pico de gallo as well! Tortillas were toasted just right! Definitely eat with tour hands and wash it all down with a cold one. Simple bliss! Never thought I'd find tacos of this caliber in Vancouver. Another hint that this place Is good is that when we were there, there were a lot of hispanic speaking customers . Love this place! Will be back for sure! Happy hour is also amazing! Cheers! Food was plain. There is an assortment of hot sauces in the table so the menu caters to people who want the flavour to come out of a bottle rather than being cooked into the dish. This is a cute but super compact place to get some authentic Mexican food! Space is tight and limited but if you can get in to grab a quick bite, do yourself the favor! I'm from California and live in the motherland of all things Mexican. The food here is freshly made and you can taste it. We always order chips and guacamole, what we noticed is even the chips tasted freshly homemade. And the tortillas for the tacos were also made fresh! Extra attention and love is definitely put into making these dishes. The tacos were mouthwatering good. I had the fish taco, which was really big! But it was deee-licious! The asada taco I got was prepared differently in that it was chopped up it was a thin slice of meat. I was a little confused but once I ate it, it all made sense. My husband had the birria-ramen with an extra birria taco and this also didn't disappoint. This dish is great for a hangover or a cold day, or if you just got the craving. I also tried the horchata which sent me back to childhood. I left very full and wanting a nap but opted to walk it off. Service is fast once they get the ball rolling. It had a slow start for sure so patience is mandatory if you wanna get that bomb food!

We stopped off at this place by chance and enjoyed some of the best tacos we've ever had. The interior is small with limited seating but it is clean and friendly. The staff was accommodating and accessible. We lucked out and got there at happy hour and ordered the three taco plate with asada, fish, and shrimp tacos. Deeelish! All three types are winners. We also order draft beer and nachos. The nachos were very good with fried chips and not just chips out of a bag. The food is worth going back for. We will go back when we are in the area.

What a cute little taco shop on W Hastings. Came across while walking in the neighborhood and decided to give it a shot. The bartender was super sweet. I got their veggie tinga taco and Baja fish taco. Both tasted really good, was a fan of their hot sauce. 2 tacos was more than enough for me. Their portions are pretty generous, so it's worth pacing yourself. Will definitely come back to try other things on their menu.

Loved the taste. Authentic Mexican dishes. The place is a little small with limited seats but the ambience is good. The only issue I had was that the dishes in the first two pages of the menu weren't available.

Hole in the wall and the tacos are absolutely legit. We walked an extra 6 blocks for this place and so worth it.

I tried the smoked beef, chicken tinge, and baja tacos. About $26 after tax and tip. All tasted kind of okay, but nothing special. I've had much better tacos at a couple of other places.

This is nowhere close to Mexican tacos, tastes like spicy cardboard. Small portions for the price $$$ Birria is NOT traditional. Very upset with the portion sizes, price, and quality. 0/10 would not recommend

We were welcomed and sat at a table very quickly. The room decor was a bit sparse so it seemed quite loud. The server was attentive and helpful. The margaritas were creative and tasty . The plating was also a bit sparse but the tacos were very tasty! I wish they had more filling . My companion ordered his meal with extra cheese . It was a good call!

On our last stop in Vancouver before driving back to Seattle, we stopped by to get some carryout tacos for dinner. It did take a bit of a wait for our food to come out. It's kinda like a hole in the wall since it is pretty small and narrow on the inside. The lights are also pretty dim if that is something that may concern/bother you. We ordered al pastor, carne asada, and baja fish tacos. The carne asada was a bit too chewy and dry for me. The al pastor was good but was also extra greasy. The baja fish tacos were my favorite of the bunch. I don't typically order fish tacos but these were great.

I consider myself a taco connoisseur and have to say this place is legit and authentic! I would HIGHLY recommend come and check out their freshly made carnitas! The ambiance is chill, service was good but place is small so not a lot of seating. Honestly though, the tacos were so good, who cares about anything else.

This location is tiny. The line up gets long at lunch time so we usually go early. Service is ok but slowish. Prices are not cheap for this kind of food. It's decent though.

This is a small taco shop where you order and then seat yourself. I ordered the Rajas con crema veggie taco - delish (definitely wish I ordered multiple tacos) Make sure to add the pickled onions, jalapeños and the salsas to your dish! Parking: metered parking outside

Nothing Pinche about this place.. I was really leery about having Mexican food in Canada being from California. No taqueria feel, over salted birria and fake Al Pastor... just overall disappointment.. please reconsider being authentic and true to the food.. almost $100 for 4 tacos, 2 margaritas and guacamole... es un robo!

Oh. Em. Gee. Just got done eating at this place. Everything we had was on point! Tap margarita? Delicious! The cauliflower Baja taco? Yep! I'm not even a vegetarian and I inhaled that thing. The Baja fish taco? Yep! My 6-year old couldn't eat it fast enough. The happy hour nachos with al pastor??? Sweet baby dinosaurs! My gf and I were blown away. Ate the entire plate! And after we ate all that and we were already stuffed we had the churros to top it off! Are all of those too! I'm about to go take a food coma nap.

Their happy hour is so good!! Very cheap beer, margaritas, and amazing tacos. Our favorites were the baja fish taco covered in a spicy mayo sauce and the tuna taco. We went two days in a row. I think that alone is a testament to their quality.

Fish taco is so so so delicious. The perfect blend of crispy, sour and juicy. This is my favorite taco place in the town.

I had recently ate here and it honestly changed my life. The chicken burrito is just incredible. My life was changed but probably for the worse, I will spend the rest of my days looking for an equivalent burrito but I doubt I will find it. I'm not from Vancouver but I will come back just to see that magical burrito.

Love this place! Food is incredible, salsa wonderful--but when the food is mis-labeled and you bite into the burrito with sour cream and am lactose intolerant, not fun. If there were no labels, we would have cut into the food to see, but we trusted the stickers. We'll definitely return, but a heads up the food may not be labeled right.

If you need something greasy to soak up whatever you drank the night before, La Taqueria is a great spot! Small restaurant, limited seating inside. Street parking. Food comes out fast. Ton of meat options. Mole - 3 CAD - Ton of flavor with this chicken. Good hints of chocolate. Cachete - 3 CAD - Stewed soft. Cheeks had good beef flavor. Asada - 3 CAD - Grilled nicely. Lengua - 3.50 CAD - Tongue was beefy. Nachos - 17 CAD - Plain and basic. Big portion. Nothing special. Over priced.

So for our first meal in Vancouver, we decided to go to our FAVOURITE APP OF ALL TIME!!! Yelp. We find this fish taco joint very close to where we are staying. Fish tacos. Fuego. Yam tacos. Fuego. Margs on tap were very good and great price point. 20 dollars for a steal of a meal. top tier if I do say so myself. Im out yelpers, -Emma

Highly recommend!! The space is quite small so I am sure it can get quite busy, however I visited this place with my girlfriend at 1pm on a Monday so it was only a few people in there. We ordered a drink each I think it was margaritas and we each got a burrito and just one birria taco to try. It was all extremely good and very swift service. Highly recommend

These tacos were absolutely delicious! I'm vegetarian and I loved the different varieties that they had!! I got the Hongos Con Kale (mixed mushroom, kale stew), Calabacitas (zucchini, sweet corn, bell peppers, queso fresco), and Frijoles Charros (retried beans, sheep fresco). I loved the mushroom tacos and definitely recommend those for people that love mushrooms like me haha. The Calabacitas was also very delicious because the zucchini and sweet corn really added to the taste of the tacos. I didn't like the Frijoles Charros as much because it felt like I was just eating beans and didn't get that tacos taste. I loved this place so much! The tacos are pretty small a so get a few and try them all!

A friend came here years ago and highly recommended I check it out. Wow. Thank you, Melissa. My game plan for eating my way through Vancouver is to eat light at most places so I can check out as many as possible. Therefore, I only got 2 tacos. I don't usually order chicken, but Majo said the Tinga was really good and it was. Shredded moist saucy goodness with a little heat. The lengua was extraordinary. It was very hard to stick to my game plan and not order 3 more tacos, all lengua. So yummy. Majo and Quinn run the register and the bar and both are beyond friendly and welcoming. They really seem to enjoy their job and are proud to work here. If not, they fooled me! Two ladies run the open kitchen. It's fun to watch them do their magic. It's a very diverse crew. Majo said they are all from different places. Columbia, Chile, Mexico, and Quinn is from Canada. Majo also told me that this is the original location although they have several more around the city. Quinn made me a margarita and it was perfect. Only a hint of sweetness. I commented on the ice, which I have never seen the likes of. Perfectly square, air bubble free, 1 inch cubes. I took about 15 min to enjoy my drink and at the end, they didn't look like they had melted at all. They looked like cubes of glass. What does this mean? A deliciously non watered down beverage. Quinn explained that they have a Japanese ice maker machine called Hoshizaki. Now it all makes sense. The 4 salsas are all good, the Arbol and Habanero are my favorite. The latter was very spicy, but not so spicy that I had to abstain due to it destroying my stomach. Yay, since I do love the heat. Along with those Lengua tacos, I so want to order multiple margaritas and just stay here all day. Hitting the mark on food, drink, environment, staff, and even ice makes it very hard to leave. Curse you, Pinche Tacos. Falling in love with you wasn't a part of my master plan! I will absolutely not be able to stay away the rest of my 6 day visit. See you very soon, Pinche!

I would have never thought Vancouver had a taco joint that is beyond amazing! So glad the seafood restaurant we wanted to dine at was fully booked. Luckily we stumbled upon this hidden gem. They are located in the heart of downtown off Hastings St. From the outside, La Taqueria Pinche looks like an ordinary taco shop. Once you step inside, the decor is simple and modern. The lighting is dim with candles at every table. There is a bar area which I can imagine is jam packed during HH. The place is small with all bar style seating. The service here is so friendly and attentive. Both servers checked on us several times throughout our meal. It must be Canadian hospitality because the people in this town are super nice. This taco spot has a chill vibe. IMO the tacos are quite authentic just like in LA. We ordered 6 "street tacos" for the two of us. The food was legit. *****Appetizer:: guacamole & chips. I love guacamole and the one made here is legit. Smooth and creamy. The chile lime tortilla chips are made in house. So good! *****Asada:: shredded steak with a special marinade. Meat was so flavorful. Served with the salsa roja. Made a bit different than in the states but delicious nonetheless!!! My fave! *****Al pastor:: shredded spicy pork topped with onions and cilantro. They add a slice of pineapple as well. It was very tasty. Meat also tender and well marinated. *****Carnitas:: braised pulled pork with pickled red onions. The pork was tender. Not many places can master that. Served with a spicy salsa verde. ****Grilled fish:: just a fish taco. I would definitely come here again but they are 1200 miles away. Will do on my next trip. A must try when in downtown Vancouver.

I had a whole swath of tacos and meals while in Vancouver, and La Taqueria Pinche Taco Shop was by far my favorite culinary stop of the weekend. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? La Taqueria Pinche is a bit of a surprise in that the whole restaurant is build on a slope, which takes a bit to get used to. Even so, while my girlfriend and I were a bit disappointed that the cauliflower tacos weren't yet available when we arrived, we got our Pastor, Baja, and other tacos quickly and were met by friendly folks behind the counter. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? The big tacos at Pinche are $6.00 and the smaller street tacos $3.00, both of which are reasonable price points for what you get. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Both my Baja fish and Pastor tacos were excellent on account of solid tortillas, amazing meats, and fantastic peripherals with great salsas. I could have eaten ten of these no problem. Dual Stars. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? My girlfriend disagrees, but this was my favorite meal in Vancouver. Star.

We are a family of vegetarians and always looking for a yummy place to eat while on vacation. This place is a literal hole in the wall and amazing in every way! Every single thing we ordered was delicious! We had the chips & guac, cauliflower, rajas con crema, & enfrijolada tacos, the nachos, a side of rice & beans, and the house margarita. The service was fast and friendly. This was probably one of our favorite meals while we have been on vacation. We'll definitely be coming back when we visit next time!

These tacos are as close to authentic Mexican food as you can get in the BC Vancouver area! We tried 3 types and all were delicious but certain ones were still better than others. Here's my unofficial order of preference: 1) Carne Asada 2) Al Pastor 3) Carnitas If you can take hot salsa, I highly recommend their habanero salsa. (Hidden in the middle of the restaurant) This salsa Really takes all these tacos to another level. The salsa is also authentic and rich in flavor but it's only for people who have built up a good tolerance to chili. It's a little dark inside but they use nice candlelight to light up the tables. The people that work here are very nice too.

Love the good amount of food! it's a good time when it's raining and I and the boys eat some tacos at this place! I mean they have good tacos the Nachos are so crispy and delish. They only cost 16 Dollars but you get a lot of Nachos!

TL;DR - If you're okay with gamey flavours, go for the Lengua tacos ($3.50). Otherwise, their Baja fish tacos ($4) are a *really* good deal. La Taqueria is a nice, small shop nestled in a strip of places right next to Gastown proper. Our waitress was super friendly and recommended the Tinga de Pollo ($3), Carnitas ($3), and Lengua ($3.5) tacos. All the tacos were super moist and flavourful. The Tinga de Pollo and Carnitas were a little messier than I expected, but no biggie. The Lengua taco was on another level -- the meat was well marinated, tender and the whole thing went great with some extra habanero salsa. I haven't eaten any sort of tongue meat since I moved away from home, so it also served as a nice reminder for me to call my mom. Ordered churros ($5) for dessert, which are also very good. They were a little smaller than expected (about 5 inches each?) and denser than I expected, but they had this heavenly dulce de leche dipping sauce that made everything okay. Note: my cousin and I came after happy hour at The Fanny Bay Oyster Bar, so the fact that we were able to eat what seems like a normal portion of food here and more speaks volumes about how good the tacos are.

Came here on a Friday evening with some friends during Memorial Day weekend. The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived but were seated pretty quickly. I love the design of the interior: it's clean, modern, but with a nice touch of latino flare with accents and pops of color here and there. I ordered three tacos: chicken mole, al pastor, and carne asada. They were all delicious but if I have to choose I enjoyed the mole the best. The sauce was creamy and savory with a slight chocolate-y flavor, chicken was still juicy and delicious. For $8 it was a decent deal, though I was still hungry afterwards. Service was great and our server recommended which tacos and drinks to try. The staff allowed me to charge my phone which was very kind of them.

Came here on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant had lots of spaces for us this evening and our server was lovely enough to explain the menu thoroughly. The vibes were great. It was a little bit chilly in the bathroom because they didn't have heat in there but other than that they had some heaters on the floor and that kept us warm a bit. I ordered the baja fish taco and it is ginormous. You guys definitely need to try that it was super juicy and crispy at the same time. They also had a little condiment bar that had different types of sauces and radish and a mix of jalapeño cauliflower and red peppers. I also ordered the chicken taco and beef tacos I don't think that's the actual name of the taco but all I know was that there was chicken and beef and one of them. The tacos were so good! You guys also need to try the churro's they are delicious. They came out super hot and crispy. They are a light sweet dessert so this was definitely a fit for me. Definitely a must try and will come again.

This is the last time I'll eat there. 3-4 tacos used to cost $12.00 just a few years ago, now the same 4 tacos are $$38.00, and extras that used to be free now cost more too. I was in shock when I got my bill. The tortillas used to be soft, now they're dry.
