"The brass sign bearing the restaurant’s name is polished daily, as you’d expect from a place that’s been going strong since 1910 and knows the value of upholding traditions and standards. This Copenhagen classic stands on the quayside where the daily catch used to be brought ashore. As the name suggests, fish dishes are the centerpiece here, with an abundance of Baltic herring as well as sole, salmon, flounder, pollock, and turbot. There’s also meat on the menu, or enjoy the best of both worlds with a plate of steak tartare with lumpfish roe."

The atmosphere outdoors is amazing. You can sear comfortably, close to the water, and have a nice view of the city while seeing people coming and going. The staff is really friendly and polite. We ordered the lunch menu, which came with 3 of pieces of the open faced sandwich, each one with a super fresh, well seasoned piece of fish. Delicious! It's pricey but the food is high quality.

Recommended by our hotel concierge. Ambience was fine and the food was ok. But the fish broth served will be better if hot enough and not mere warm. And it was also too much to charge us 70 krone for water. This seems to be the only restaurant that charged us water. We already ordered beer and it was not informed that water is chargeable.

It’s a beautiful restaurant with classic style interior. Quiet and romantic atmosphere. The service was good. The food was delicious especially the oysters it was very fresh and tasty, the lobster was delicious but the fried fish was a bit oily.

Had an amazing dining experience at Krogs! The 4-course menu was incredibly fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a great meal. Highly recommend for anyone who loves quality seafood and excellent hospitality!

Very disappointing. The service and overall atmosphere was ok. We got oysters as a starter and Bouillabaisse as a main course. Oysters was alright but the second course was not tasting good and it was a very tiny portion ( 1 piece of scallop, 3 tiny pieces of fish and 5 mussels in a bitter broth for 365DKK) I would understand the portion since it is a fine dining, however I really didn’t enjoy the taste. We spent 2.300DKK for 4 people and left hungry and pretty disappointed. To be fair we didn’t try any other dishes, maybe the tasting menu is good.

Great place for fresh fish. Modern cuisine. Had the 4 course menu with the wine. Very nicely chosen by the sommelier. Great friendly staff. Not just a place for long diners but they als cater very well if you just want a main course or a quick bite. Not particularly cheap but then again, what is in Copenhagen.

The bouillabaisse was excellent—rich in umami and bursting with flavor. The oysters were fresh, and the sourdough, delicious with the butter. Unfortunately, I found the soup and fish to be overly salty for my taste. The service, though, was exceptional; they promptly remade the dish without hesitation. The fish and chips made of two fried oysters and lots of tartar sauce, didn’t really get it. The dessert average and didn’t stand out much. Atmosphere elegant and pleasant.

It's another nice seafood restaurant in the city. The place looks great from the outside, the inside is even more cozy. Walking by, didn't expect to be in a fine dining kind of place. There was no disappointment whatsoever. The 4-course meal without wine pairing was good enough to satisfy the meal.

Yelp
Krogs has lovely al fresco dining in the heart of Copenhagen's main sightseeing district, near the canals and city square. The portions are generous small and pricey (a scallop appetizer is truly a single scallop, albeit beautifully presented), but the food is quite fresh and well prepared. Smoking is allowed n the furthest row of seating, which can be a bit off-putting to diners, but overall it's still a worthwhile dining experience.

Yelp
Left a bad taste in my mouth -- went in expecting a nice dinner based on the ambience and prices, but it was not to be. The food was very good and well prepared. The service however was rude, slow and inattentive. We were there to celebrate a birthday and were treated as an afterthought at every turn. There are so many good restaurants in Copenhagen with great service, I would avoid this place since there are other well reviewed alternatives.

Yelp
Disclaimer: We were here during Dining week 2019 I have been wanting to visit this restaurant so much, with the old-fashioned fish sign by Gammel Strand, so I hopped to the chance when the ticket (that was otherwise sold out) to this place was available for dining week. We got the marbled pollack with cucumber and buttermilk as a starter and hake fish with celeriac puree and kale. They were delicious. Hake fish was just in the right consistency (God forbid a fish restaurant messes up with the fish, right?) and the celeriac puree was amazing, even the kale was so tasty (Don't get me wrong, I love kale, but when they're not properly cooked, they taste like the bottom soles of a rubber sandal). The dessert was orange sorbet with chocolate crumbles on mascarpone cream. Let's just say that orange and chocolates are my most favourite combos on earth. The service was lovely, everything was lovely. I really want to visit this place for regular dinner service next time!

Yelp
An institution in Copenhagen with fine dinning and great service. The dishes are very well presented and cooked to perfection. The bouillabaisse is both beautiful and excellent, other dishes were great as well.

Yelp
This is the real thing: Gourmet Danish cuisine in a beautiful dining room with understated elegance. From start to finish, we had a superb experience here: The staff was very welcoming and let us choose our own table. We received excellent service throughout our meal from Amanda, who was delightful. We chose the 3 course menu and were awed by the perfection of each dish If we had stayed longer in Copenhagen we would have returned numerous times I will later try to add the exact dishes we had with pictures

Yelp
Went there with an offer coupon for lunch and the welcoming was quite "cold". I'm sure I show a disappointment at the waiter's eyes. But the service was excellent and staff was friendly to us, presenting our dishes and made couple of kind jokes. I guess the expensive wine we ordered helped to that! The food was very good and could understand how good the quality of the ingredients was. I just didn't like the small items in big plates. At least the quantity was enough to satisfy my appetite! We had the 3 course menu of the day with items off the menu. Cannot remember the exact names, but plate 1 was cold smoked salmon with some cheese, main course was cold rooster pâté with a kind of sauce and my dessert was some ice-cream. All very satisfying. My main issue was my clothing. I felt that I should have put on a suit and tie before I go there. The atmosphere and deco are very formal and made me think that next time I'm there would be after my 40's!

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by the Concierge at our hotel but, after reading the reviews on here, I wasn't expecting much but we went anyway as he had made a reservation for us. First of all, we were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff and by the beautiful old world elegant surroundings. The service started with the serving of piping hot bread served with whipped salted butter. It was hard not to consume the entire little round! My husband and I shared the octopus starter which was perfectly grilled and absolutely one of the best we've had anywhere in the world. Delicious! The entrees were somewhat limited in number but better to have fewer excellently prepared items than numerous mediocre ones. My husband then had the pan seared turbot served in a buerre blanc sauce with baby clams and puréed cauliflower. I chose the veal tenderloin in a bordelaise sauce with both puréed and roast carrots as well as some sautéed greens and new potatoes roasted with butter. Both dishes were superb. Our service was impeccable and, all in all, this was a thoroughly enjoyable meal!

Yelp
Came here at the recommendation of a tour guide. Best "seafood" restaurant in Copenhagen, apparently. Simple decor. good service. Did not feel really luxurious though, just simple and slightly stuffy. Dishes were OK. Not especially flavorful or interesting. Definitely not worth the price. $5 per oyster? even with the "denmark premium", that's expensive. We spent $150 on dinner for 2 with a couple of drinks. In my mind, the meal was worth ~$80 compared to other seafood meals I've had in stockholm, barcelona, boston, san francisco, etc.

Yelp
Very good place although a bit pricey. The quality of ingredients is superb. They made a basic salad for us and charged 125kr per person which was grossly overpriced. Mind you, each plate had two small pieces of lettuce and a few sprigs of dill. The royal seafood platter was excellent and well worth the 485kr. The halibut was a bit under-seasoned and dry but the monkfish was very well done.

Yelp
They made one of the best fish dishes in Copenhagen. I was there the other day with 3 friends, we have ordered the evening 3 courses menu. The main course was hake, I was never a big fan of hake as compare to cods or halibuts, but that night I tried the best hake in my life! The fish was perfectly cooked, still very tender and juicy! I will definitely go back for that! Also thumb up to a wide range of wine selection!

Eric K.

Yelp
Wonderful food, nice ambiance, had our reservation and seated us immediately. We had the three course tasting menu -- each course had more character than the menu described. Why only 3 stars? It was significantly understaffed when we were there and the service suffered. When we saw our primary server at our table, he was very attentive, but there were long gaps with no attention -- and a very long wait for dessert and similar long wait for our check. Surprised at the cost ($100 per person with wine), but I am starting to get the feeling that everything in Copenhagen is priced like New York City.

Yelp
I found this restaurant in yelp by searching a fish restaurant. Best tip ever! My colleague and myself had really good menus. Ambience is perfect and the waiters were very friendly and gave a good wine recommendation. When I am back in Kopenhagen, I will be here again

Yelp
Went there tonight and was overwhelmed by service, presentation, and taste. We usually go appetizer or desert. We hard the mussels (took three bowls for all the shells) and the fish soup. Main course was fried shake in a caper sauce and the poached turbot with carrots. Very flavorful with unique taste. Also try the Gin bar next door.

Greg K.

Yelp
Elegant dining room, nice service and excellent wine list. Three stars, though, because none of our 4 dishes was very good--expensive mushy lobster, tasteless "Witch", seafood stew with pulpy langoustine. The berries desert, though, was excellent.
