"Go for a Walk in East River Park Work days in the 'concrete jungle' are hectic. Long hours are spent indoors, sitting at desks. It's easy to forget that we live on an island. The East River Walk, beginning at 34th street and the FDR, is where I go to get away from the hustle and bustle. Looking out on the East River, I forget I'm in a city at all. Take a deep breath. Run/walk/bike/skip down to the Brooklyn Bridge and back. If you're brave, continue around to the West Side."

"Met my friends Jack and Chris for a walk in East River Park, which they’re trying to destroy. I want to telegraph that I’m not some guy who is bitching that things are changing, but I love this place and we have to hold on to it. It is really one of the best things about New York, and people don’t know about it."

Okay major construction as of Memorial Day 2025 has partitioned the north end of this park so take into consideration that's up to a two star deduction for non-track users but normally... This entire East River esplanade has a view to die for whether your walking, jogging, riding, enjoying the track and fields, playgrounds, fishing, hanging out, socializing or watching others do any of the above. The river & it's traffic, skylines of Queens & Brooklyn & their respective bridges in view are spectacular day or evening year round not to mention the seasonal blooms. I'm holding back the best photos I have accumulated of the river & skylines because I think interested parties should see for themselves. Best to pack a beverage(s), snack, or even picnic or barbecue, not to mention the kids, and even Fido (there's an entire enclosed large field locals use as a dog run). It may not be a tourists primary destination, but it definitely rates a spot on ANYONE'S itinerary.

A small but mighty stretch of east river park. Not yet connected north or south to adjacent parks/promenades but nice section to have open. The basketball, soccer and tennis courts are super popular as well as the cushy grass and all the many seating areas. There’s a bbq area with grills for charcoal grilling and a spot for water to come up from the ground to cool off. Access is a bit tricky with ongoing construction. The ramp starts on south Delancey before you reach FDR. The stairs at FDR isn’t quite done.

Amazing views! Can't wait until it's fully open.

In all kinds of weather this park is the best. Whether you run, play sports, do body weight workouts, like fishing, have dogs, or just want to go for a walk or a picnic, this is the place to go on the Lower East Side. It will be even better when the track is finished in (hopefully) Fall 2018. I hope to see you out there having a blast!

Great park to watch sunset. I saw a dance performance as well, the view was a great backdrop. I like it because it's not overcrowded, but it's a bit of a walk from the trains. Great spot to go to near the lower east side or after walking the Williamsburg bridge.

Wonderful views with bearing perspective around every corner. little desk lit being next to the highway but still looking across the water you can see the current and tides ebb and flow surprisingly rapidly. Good place to go for a run or have a ride free from the traffic

As other have mentioned there is a nice area but almost the entire place has been taken over by construction and the surrounding area is not nice. Unlike other areas you have to cross a highway to get here
