JAPADOG

Last time I came here it was great but this time they had run out of toppings for the vegan dog so I just got it plain and I was going to add some condiments. The hot dog I got was nearly inedible and not because it was vegan but totally overcooked and dry with an also hard/dry bun. I went to pickup my other food order elsewhere and asked my husband to get this one but I definitely wouldn’t have accepted it had I picked up. The chicken karaage was also a mess fried in dirty oil flecked with black. Absolutely awful.

I love me some japadog. They have such a large selection of types of dogs you want and even have vegan options. The shoyu fries will make you want to slap yo mama!

The place is small but very nice, the service is good, they serve you very well and they didn't take long to prepare the food, and the food is very tasty, of course I could only try one, but I hope to go back and try the others, since I am interested in trying the other dishes. Of course I will go back and be able to bring my friends.

A friend told me he drove 3 hours from Seattle to get this. After eating one I finally get why. The mayo is paired with a lean sausage causing it to actually be fairly balanced in terms of fat vs lean content. It's a well constructed hot dog.

Hot dog with a twist. Quick serve counter. Went early evening and our food came out relatively fast. It did get a little busy later on as tourists and locals started trickling in. Menu also had Japanese styled fries (seaweed), desserts, and takoyaki. Clean restroom with an additional outside sink for handwashing. Outside table with seats during nice weather.

The Japanese twist to the hotdog is really good. I was confused between Hot Spicy and Chicken Karrage, the server helped decided. I went with the Hot Spicy as I wanted something spicy, and I was quite impressed. I would recommend it for sure.

I got to try 2 different types of Japadog during my vacation in Vancouver, They were both quite good. My only regret is that I couldn't try more varieties. Okonomi was my favourite and they had a Vegan option as well which was nice.

The hot dogs were decent, but nothing extraordinary. One of them lacked flavor, which might have been due to the bread not being as fluffy or bouncy as expected. The service was okay, though the food took a bit longer to come out than I would have liked.

While in Vancouver we got to finally try the famous Japadog! We had heard a lot about this spot and were excited to try it, albeit a bit hesitant on the concept and fusion of flavors. Everything we tried was fine but it wouldn't be something we'd run back to have again. Mostly because we don't think the bold flavors and combinations pair well together but that doesn't mean they weren't tasty enough to finish. We tried the 2 most ordered items first and ended up going with a safe option (bacon cheesy) at the end to bring our experience up a bit. All in all, I think this was just one of those situations where not everything is for everyone and Japadog wasn't really for us. If you're a fan of trying new things and want to taste the essence of Japanese food in hotdogs, this place may very well be for you. We gave it a try and we are glad we did, just not our cup of tea.

We heard about this place and decided to try it. I think the concept was amazing but it didn't reach our expectations. It is very Instagram worthy, but I don't think it hit as much as we wanted to. The bread didn't taste soft or toasted, it kind of just tasted stale. We weren't of a fan of the yakiniku one but liked the wagyu one. The store itself was a little rundown, but I loved the vibe it had. It was a little pricey but this would be way more expensive in the US. The service was pretty good. I would come here again just to try something else, maybe the one we go just weren't the right ones.

I wish I had better things to say about Japadog considering the hype around it, but I truly don't understand how people think this is iconic at this point in time after experiencing it for myself. The restaurant itself is small with seating indoors/outdoors, easy to read menus, and the portions are on the smaller side and overpriced for what it is. The service was quick. Though the staff didn't really talk much or engage with customers at all, which wasn't a concern for me as long as the order was correct and done in a timely manner. I tried the top 2 suggested special hotdogs since I was sharing with another person as a mid-day snack. Both the okonomi and kurobuta terimayo were very underwhelming both in flavor and texture of the meat itself. The bread, sauces, and toppings were fine, but if the meat isn't good then nothing can save it. It was heavy on the mayo so if that's a concern for you then ask for less! Perhaps the expansion over the years resulted in diminished quality because I'm sure at one point this was truly an experience to be had or maybe some of the other locations are better. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if I ever found myself at a Japadog again then I'd try one of their beef hotdogs instead.

Incredible. We had a cheesy, tender, delicious perfect hot dog and some of the best poutine I've ever had. Hole in the wall, nothing fancy, but incredible food and extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Japadog is a Japanese fusion hot dog spot. I saw it mentioned by multiple people when I was doing research for my Vancouver day trip, and after going myself, I fully understand why. I ordered the wagyu terimayo dog and it had a wagyu beef hot dog, fried onions, teriyaki sauce, Japanese mayo, and seaweed. This hot dog was DELICIOUS!! The meat quality of the hot dog itself was really good and the combination of flavors from the toppings were great as well. My husband and I both thought this may be the best hot dog we've ever had. Overall, 10/10 would recommend this. The store itself is pretty small, but there is some seating indoors and outdoors. There isn't much service here as you just order at the counter and wait for your number to be called, but the employee taking our order was friendly. This location is located in downtown so parking can be a bit of a hassle, but we were able to find a paid parking lot nearby.

This was a bucket list place for us when traveling to Voncouver. Overall, it was good, and the dogs were flavorful. They offer the most unique types of dogs. The menu is filled with Japanese favorites like Katsu to croquettes. The dogs have great flavor and seasoning. I did not care for the dry buns, I would ask if they can toast it less.

3.5 stars. We came here for dinner our first night in Vancouver because it was recommended by so many. If you're into hot dogs, this is definitely the place for you. They have a huge selection with many unique combinations. We ended up with chicken karaage which came with lettuce, a miso sauce, and chili threads. The chicken karaage was good. But it didn't work well in a bun and lettuce for me. It just felt like two separate items put together. Maybe it needed more sauce? My husband ordered the kurobuta terimayo which came with a kurobuta sausage, fried onions, teriyaki sauce, Japanese mayo and seaweed. This one was really good. I felt like it worked well in the hot dog bun. The sauce worked well with the sausage. I would definitely get this again. The store itself was a little grimy. Floors were a little sticky. More of a late night spot. Maybe after a night out.

A fun touristy classic. Perfectly affordable hot dogs with a wide variety of combinations. Quick service and also loved the soy sauce fries.

When in Vancouver you gotta come out and try a Japadog! After spending a day in Richmond roaming around with the family we walked here to feed the boys. First you order via kiosk and then they will call you by your number. We ordered 3 hot dogs and some ice creams for the boys. The food comes out pretty quick. They have many different styles on how you want your hot dog to come with. I ordered the spicy dog and the boys got the bacon cheese hot dog. It was very good and tasty. The matcha ice cream here is also a hit for the boys. The staff here works hard and are very nice. Inside I would say it can fit about 15-20 people. Plus they open late too!!

If you're craving a dog with a Japanese flair, Japadog's the spot--if you're willing to dare. With sausages wrapped in seaweed and mayo, They'll spice up your snack with a tasty bravado! The Kurobuta Terimayo, a hit in the bun, With crispy fried onions--now that's some fun! But the chicken karaage, a bit of a miss, In a bun with lettuce? Just doesn't hit bliss. The prices are high for a dog that's too small, And a bit too much mayo can spoil the whole call. But for late-night munching, it might be the cure, After a few drinks, you'll be coming back for sure! The place may be sticky, the seats kind of tight, But if you're in the mood for a dog late at night, Japadog's got the flavors, a quirky delight-- Just don't expect gourmet, and keep your expectations light!

Upon returning to downtown Vancouver later on a Friday night, my husband and I were looking for a quick bite to eat. We had heard so many people recommend Japadog. It was within walking distance of our hotel so we made our way over. We placed our order at the window for two Japadogs to-go. My husband ordered the Wagyu hotdog with seaweed and mayo while I opted for the "Love Meat", which was essentially a chili cheese dog. We took our hotdogs back to our hotel to enjoy them since it was a cold and rainy night, and there was only outdoor seating available. I have to say, I do not understand what all the hype is about these hotdogs. Perhaps this is the sort of place you need to come after having a few drinks to soak up the alcohol in your stomach, but they were simply unremarkable. And to make matters worse, the hotdogs themselves were smaller than the buns they were in so the ratio of bread to hot dog was off and they were cold. Yes, we did walk back to our hotel with them, but it was a short three block walk. The temperature was extremely offputting. Maybe it's a Vancouver thing and I just don't understand it, but I definitely think there is significantly better food in Vancouver than Japadog.

Decent hot dogs and a fun, unique dining concept in Vancouver. The hot dogs are tasty enough, but I wouldn't say they're "must-try" if you're only in town for a day. It is nice that they offer non-meat and seafood options if you're looking for something beyond the typical beef/pork hot dog blend. The takoyaki was also tasty, although there wasn't enough octopus or sauce in the dish.

Stopped by here for brunch and it was good. Very versatile menu and unique choices for hot dogs and Japanese street food! Very small establishment with very limited seating inside and outside. You can either order at the kiosk or with the cashier. I'd say the portions are on the smaller side but prices are decent. Got pretty crowded as it turned into lunchtime. What we ordered: -Wagyu Menchi Katsu: Okay but served oddly. It was like a huge menchi meatball in a hotdog bun so you didn't get menchi with every bite. It was also pretty heavy on the mayo which I wasn't a huge fan of. Menchi was okay. 3/5 -Japanese Curry Poutine: This was really good! Fries were amazing with the curry. Curry was flavorful but def tasted like the packaged curry. 4/5 -Aonori Fries: These were basically furikake fries and they were actually really good. Seasoning complimented the fries well. 4/5 -Chicken Karage: This was very disappointing just because I've had better before. The breading was very plain and not flavorful, just tasted fried. Smelled a little fishy too which I wasn't a fan of. 2/5 Overall, this place looked cooler than it actually was. I wasn't super impressed with the food nor the portions. I'm not from this area so if I came back to downtown Vancouver, I'd probably try something else instead.

When traveling, we reserve an extra meal for the end of the evening...after dinner, after dessert, after the late night cocktail...I'm not sure what it's called, but in Canada it often means "vegetarian hot dog" because the nation is rich with they-hardly-ever-close hot dog places, always with a veggie dog option. That was our experience in cities in the east of Candada, and to our delight, here in Vancouver where Japadog services up a zillion different unique Japanese hot dog combinations, with a veggie dog ready to put in place, and, for heaven's sake, they're open until 3am. We were in Vancouver for 3 nights, and, sure enough, we went to Japadog 3 times. If you're there before 10pm you can sit in their small dining area. After 10 you order at the street window and there are a couple of stone bench/planter areas right in front you can park yourself. They have a separate vegetarian menu which is not fully on display in the restaurant, but IS available when you use their electronic ordering tablet (and viewable on their website.) That threw us off a little on our first visit when we knew we had seen the veggie options on the website, but it was before 10 and we were ordering from a live person who only mentioned 2 different options. (There are a lot more than 2!) No matter, over the course of our three nights we tried the Veggie Croquette (made with fried potatoes), the Veggie Oroshi, and the Veggie Terimayo (With no mayo). All looked unique and tasted good and served our late-night extra-meal stomach reserved for just such occasions. The fact that it was almost across the street from our hotel was a bonus. (Or a disaster depending on how you look at it.) Please, Japadog...you have many locations...what would it take for you to open up just one more here in Newhall, California, and also be open until 3am...pretty please?

Japadog is an institution at this point, but from my first time ever having it over a decade ago to now, I can't figure out for the life of me why it is so popular. The food is dramatically overpriced for what it is--a below-average sized hot dog, when you could get one for $1.50 at Costco (I know it's a loss leader) or a huge one for under $4 at a host of other restaurants. It's also consistently over-salted. Perhaps it's due to the sauces? Either way, it's not hard to add mayo and seaweed to your own hot dogs at home -- if I'm really craving a hot dog on the go, I'll hit up any of the food carts littering the Vancouver Downtown.

Japadog was one of those places I heard about as an iconic Vancouver food. They started as a small hotdog stand in 2005 and saw success, opening more stands and then sit-in restaurants. It's a great story. This location on Robson Street is pretty unique, the architecture of the small store definitely feels like you could be in Japan. It offers some table and bar seating inside, and a couple picnic tables outside. Though it's not a bar, "dive" does seem to be an apt description. I think it could use a deep clean. Their menu has, of course, hotdogs as well as fried chicken, takoyaki, fries, and some desserts. As a first time visitor, I asked the staff for their recommendation of what was popular, and they didn't really have an answer for me and didn't seem super friendly or engaging. They also said they didn't have wifi for guests to use. I appreciate the interesting menu items. I'm not sure the flavors worked for me. It was a little mayo heavy. And the veg option was flavorless. I am curious why they cannot make any hotdog into a veggie hotdog and instead have a specific section of veg options. Overall it's certainly unique. However, I fear that their success has led them to fall from the heights they started at. I might visit again to try a different order but it wouldn't be a priority.

We'd heard of this restaurant via YouTube reviews from locals. Couldn't wait to try it and so glad we did! Although we saw stands set up throughout the down town area and at the airport, when we walked by this brick and mortar location, we knew this was where we wanted to go. We tried #3 Oroshi and #5 Spicy Cheese TeriMayo. I love daikon, and liked the way it was grated for the #3, but it wasn't my favorite. Both were good but the #5 was amazing. Will go back to try other flavors. Poutine was also decent!

We heard about Japadog while researching for our Vancouver trip. And I don't get the hype. We stopped by on a Monday at 12, and it wasn't too busy yet but people were slowly starting to trickle in after we ordered. We got an order of the 3pcs of Takoyaki, Kurobuta Terimayo (Kurobuta Pork, teriyaki sauce, japanese mayo, fried onions, seaweed) and the Hot Spicy (beef, special original spicy sauce, lettuce). The Takoyaki was okay, but I'm not really a huge fan of Takoyaki to being with because it's always a soggy mess. This was no different. The Kurobuta Terimayo had way too much mayo on it. If it wasn't for that, it could have been pretty good because the hot dog itself had a nice snap and flavor to it. The beef hot dog was just mid. The 'spicy sauce' it came with was more like a hot relish than it was a sauce, and there was SO much of it. Some if it accidentally fell off onto the table, which made it slightly better but not by much. Maybe we just didn't order the right items but I don't think I would try it again. Plus for something as simple as a hot dog, these things ain't cheap!

After seeing video reviews of this place, we went to give it a try and it was pretty good, but a little pricey for a street style hot dog. I would come here for a snack only because I was still hungry afterwards. This place has a huge selection of hot dogs inspired by asian toppings and ingredients. I got the spicy miso and also tried their butter & shoyu fries (my fav!), shichimi fries, and curry poutine fries which were all good. They also have a condiment area for mustard, ketchup, and jalapeños. If you have a large group then it's best to sit separately because the dining area is small. They also have outdoor seating as well. This location only accepts credit cards!

You need to visit Japadog once if you are in Vancouver! This chain offeres lots of choices for hotdog and it is made fresh! You will love their menu as there is one kind that will fit your taste. This location is in downtown and very tiny space. So make sure you don't go with a group of people as there will be no seat for everyone.

Awesome place good value for the price. My favorite was the #5 spicy cheese terimayo really good snap on the dog, seaweed and nice accompaniment. The #6 was ok the noodles on the dog did not do that much for me. The #8 was amazing to tonkatsu was fried perfectly and tender. The fries with the shoyu butter were pretty good all in all really solid place and must try when in Vancouver. Plenty of seating inside and outside at Robinson location.

Fast, cheap, delicious! Limited seating but we got seating. Order at counter or on machine and wait 5-10 min for the best hot dog of your life. Quite messy to eat but they have a sink readily available.

Its a small dive restaurant on Robson. They have Japanese street food and have endless options. You can find vegan option too if you want. I tried karage hotdog, it was ok. I felt it was bit dry and chewy. I loved their Siracha seasoning fries. The place is itself not very clean but it is kept street style way. The service is fast and there is hardly any wait time. Give it a try!

We dropped by here for our last night in Vancouver. It was also NY eve. It was a pretty small little joint but not very crowded with plenty of seats available at this time. Perhaps more people preferred to spend their NY eve at Japacat instead. Also note, for the travelers who need constant relief, there's also one restroom if you need to clear out before you ingest more goodies. The staff was very helpful and gave us suggestions as to what people would usually order there. And it tasted wonderful! To be honest, it is probably very easy to make something similar at home. But it was still great to try this out to be inspired for future HOTdog PURSUITS! I would likely never have thought of trying this combo on my own. I basically just reach for the ketchup, mustard, relish and onion. :) In case you were wondering, I ordered the Kurobuta Terimayo which is pretty simple. It is pretty much just a hot dog bun + hot dog + kewpie + teriyaki sauce + toppings (diced onion + seaweed) and viola! Yummy yummy in my tummy! Anyway, if I ever venture back to vancouver and craving a late night snack then it is very likely I may return. Next time, I may try to order something more complex which requires more time and effort to build.

They are a food stand located outside a hotel. Easy to walk to, and there's a bench at the nearby hotel that I sat at. Wasn't too busy when I went (also raining), and took about 10 minutes to get ready. Tonkatsu Japadog: Plenty of sauce, bun was toasted well and crispy. Tonkatsu itself was ok, nothing special, just fried pork (as expected). This is a nice snack, although it was smaller than I expected. It also left me feeling greasy, but that's probably the point. Nice to try once, probably wouldn't go back.

This place is actually pretty good! Stopped in Vancouver for lunch and wanted to get a dog and some poutine.. Ordered the following: Wagyu Terimayo - full of flavor, great umami taste, and the dog was a great size. Japanese Curry Fries - delicious, crunchy, and full of excellent flavors. I would have gotten a large, but this filled me up! The service was fairly quick, everyone is friendly, and this little spot is definitely a gem to explore. I enjoyed staying outside to enjoy my meal, but the inside is small and cute. If you need to get your hotdog fix in or poutine, stop by!

Located inside the Wellington Market at the Well, this is the first east coast location (that I know of). Originally, japadog started off as a stand but then gained enough popularity to open an actual storefront in Vancouver. It was exciting to see a lot of choices for this established west coast staple. Of course I had to try the OG Teri Mayo. This version was a spicy sausage with cheese. It was delish! The spice had some serious kick! Be warned, this place seems to have a very consistent line due to its popularity. 20 minutes is a good estimate for how long we waited. Being in a food court, you'll find seating somewhere on the premises. Just try to eat your food sooner than later to ensure freshness!

It's worth the hype! Really delicious! I loved the pork katsu dog!! The poutine was perfect! Didn't really love the TAKOYAKI with cheese. Glad we went it was great.

So many options! I love that there are veggie dogs available too. I tried the veggie version of the Croquette. The fried potatoes and cabbage were good toppings. Although the hot dog was very filling, there are other options like fries, edamame, poutine, and milkshakes on the menu. The inside is small but they do have some outside seating on the street.

y'all needa try if you're in vancouver -- japanese style hotdogs open till 3/4AM if you have drunchies ! pretty pricey for just hotdogs but IT'S FA THE EXPERIENCE i think i got it like twice on my trip here; bacon cheese one can't go wrong with that, the tonkotsu was sold out the first time but i came to realize that different dogs were sold out on different nights! inchresting! the wagyu beef one was definitely hefty in price and weight but all of them basically had that typical teriyaki sauce on. the chicken sandwich was pretty bomb it took the longest to make but that's how you know it's fresh ~~~ i won't stop until i have tried every version loool service is 10/10 thanks so much

Japadog, straight-up busin in downtown Vancouver! This spot ain't playin' around when it comes to street grub. So, peep this: I was straight-up starving after crushin' some BBQ earlier, so I rolled over to Japadog for some late-night munchies, ya feel me? I don't stuff sausage in my mouth but this time I did super so hard! AND I LOVED IT! Their menu's off the hook, man. They got all kinds of crazy combos goin' on. The Terimayo's like the OG, mixin' up that juicy hot dog with teriyaki sauce, mayo, and seaweed for some next-level flavor. And then you got the Okonomi, with bonito flakes, Japanese mayo, and fried cabbage. It's like takin' a trip to Tokyo without leavin' the block. But yo, they ain't stoppin' there. They got some wild joints for the bold, like the Oroshi with grated radish and a special soy sauce blend, or the Ebi Tempura, swappin' out the sausage for a crispy tempura shrimp. Straight-up gourmet street eats, fam. Prices? Aight, they ain't gonna break the bank, so you can grub on a budget. But yo, heads up, the lines can be mad long, especially when everyone's tryna get their fix. Ain't a lotta seats either, so you might just have to take your eats to-go and post up on a nearby bench. Overall, Japadog's the real deal, bringin' that fusion flavor game to the mean streets of Vancouver. Whether you're a hot dog fanatic or just lookin' for a dope snack, Japadog's got you covered, especially when you're craving some late-night grub. Straight-up lit, no cap.

Finally tried the famous Japadog and it was just ok. I've had Asian style burgers that I have been impressed by so I was hoping the Asian style hot dog would be great as well, but it's more lackluster and kind of overpriced for what you are getting. I went with the Wagyu Terimayo which is Wagyu Beef, Seaweed, Teriyaki Sauce, Japanese Mayo, Fried Onions which is almost 15 CAD. It looked pretty good when it came out, but I did think it was a little small. Overall flavor was ok, I wouldn't know it was wagyu if you didn't tell me. Lots of sweetness coming from the teriyaki & Japanese mayo. I think they had sriracha which I should have added, but overall there was already so much sauce. The Japadog name is quite well known, so with it being a tourist draw, comes the higher prices. In the end, it really is just a hot dog and if 15 CAD was for a meal which included fries I could justify the price. This location was downtown and I walked there but if you drive you'd have to find street parking or look for a structure nearby. It's a pretty small spot since it's just a quick-bite meal. If you love hot dogs I suppose you could try it out and if someone offered me a Japadog I'd eat it. But I don't really plan on coming back. Cheers!

Been almost 10 years since I first tried this place. Made sure to stop by for a quick bite and didn't forget about dessert. Ordered a Kurobuta terimayo #1, a Hot and spicy #9, an original Lemonade. The lemonade was a bit on the sweeter side. Once we were done, we went back to the counter to order an Aged Ice with Vanilla ice cream. It's essentially a hotdog bun thats made into a sugar donut and ice inserted into the middle. Just as good as i remember it!

When we go on vacation, our food rule is that we don't eat anything we can get at home. So, everyone gets to choose a place to eat and my Little chose Japadog - he did his own research via YouTube and made a whole list lol He ordered their most popular option - Kurobota Terimayo without onions and got the Japanese Curry Poutine as the side for the meal. He tore it up. It was good! The small shop is set up very similar to eateries in Japan - I would imagine it gets filled up quickly during peak times

I might be taking crazy pills but I could not find this location and when I asked employees at restaurants in the area where it was - nobody knew what I was talking about. I'm presuming it's a cart that randomly sets up shop around this address? I dunno. We ended up doordashing it to our hotel after giving up the search. I got the Kurobuta Terimayo. I had a couple friends tell me I had to try one when visiting Vancouver. I agree with a couple of the reviewers that it was overhyped. It was... fine. It was too umami for my palette. My mouth carried that salty deep rich flavor for - I dunno - five or six hours after eating which wasn't my favorite while sun bathing at the pool. Even tried brushing my teeth but no luck. It permeated deep.

Japadog was a popular place when I looked for places to eat at during my stay in Canada. Japadog did not disappoint, loved the different kinds of hot dogs they had. The poutine was unexpectedly so good! Prices are a little on the higher end, but food is delicious!

Quick solid hot dog place with Japanese inspired ingredients. I went here because I wasn't feeling a full meal for dinner, and this happened to be walking distance from one of the clubs. This place opens late, so it is an excellent late night spot after a night out. I was debating between the #5 spicy cheese terimayo and #13 wagyu terimayo and ultimately settled with the #5 spicy cheese terimayo because both have fried onions, teriyaki sauce, Japanese mayo, and seaweed, with the only difference being the sausage. The hot dog overall is good, a bit on the smaller side for the price. I liked the sweetness of the sauces that complements the savory sausage. Food came out pretty quick, despite the place being fairly busy, which is a plus.

We were looking for a quick bite. I thought, based on what I could find that we had located a shop version of the restaurant, but it was only a "food cart." Either I had the wrong location or no sit-down place exists. Anyway, we were the very last customers to get food for the night. Everything was good, but it was a bit challenging to eat - quite messy, especially since we weren't at a table with lots of napkins available!

If you're here for a hotdog, get out. If you're here for a truly unique, quirky Japanese experience, you've come to the right place! Tonkatsu Dog? Sign me up! Anything with Kewpie mayo is an instant win! Honestly, if Nippon is your jam, then there is no wrong choice on the menu. Although may I suggest the Wagyu Terimayo? I ordered it on my last visit, and it blew my mind. Sure, as a friend remarked, it's either genius or blasphemy to use wagyu in a hot dog of all things (probably both), but after having experienced it in all its glory, ALL hot dogs should be wagyu dogs, in my opinion. It would certainly help with curing the stigma around this perfect, portable, hand-held, fast food trash food snack that *everyone* loves; if you don't, you're either lying or deluding yourself - FACT!

We went to Japadog since we were reading online how it is a must try if you are visiting in the area and also how they have a wagyu hot dog which I'm a huge fan of. The place is pretty small so it is easy to overlook but was decently busy for an afternoon. We got their wagyu hot dog which is one of their more popular ones, it took them some time to make our order but once it was ready it was well worth the wait. This was a Japanese-American fusion and the flavors here were so complex but worked together so well. I wasn't quite sure what I was eating when it came to the sauce but my stomach just told me to keep chewing so that's really all that matters. I can speak on the sausage itself and say that it was really juicy and packed full of flavor on its own which is what you would expect from a wagyu. The bun also is really soft and fluffy which is an important hallmark of a delicious hotdog. At first I was a little bummed that I wouldn't be able to have this again for a long time since I was visiting from California but I found out they also have one more location in Santa Monica which got me really excited. I see a lot of Japadog in my future! Would definitely recommend this place especially as a late night stop since they stay open for a while.

Pleasantly surprised. Wasn't sure what to expect but had low expectations. Ordered the number 1 and also the Tokantsu and also the green tea ice cream on bread. All were great. The number one had a great flavor profile with the Japanese mayo onions and sausage and nori flakes. The katsu was delicious as well. The dessert with the green tea on the sugar cinnamon bread was excellent as well.

Cool hotdog place with lots of Japanese influenced toppings! They have tasty hotdogs with a good "snap" and even wagyu hotdogs! Also they have milkshakes and ice desserts. If you're a purist, you can get your dog plain, without the toppings. The hotdogs themselves aren't the huge Costco size but with all the toppings, you can get pretty full. The bun is nice and soft and hold up well with the toppings. We had the cilantro with umami chili ( I was a bit leery of the spice level but it wasn't very spicy at all and I'm a spice wimp), the avocado dog topped with thick slices of avocado, kurobuta with fried onions, Oroshi dog with grated daikon (Japanese radish) They were all very good but the winner was the kurobuta dog! It got pretty busy during the lunch hour but well worth the wait!

Just okay. Their best sellers are crunchy hits, but the rest of the lineup can probably go into the dumpster. Like this yakisoba dog which was overly salty and had no added value with the noodles, there's no point. The fact that they keep all of the dogs inside water and then heat them on the grill...I don't know about this.

Been 10+ years since we last had a Japadog. Had to return for a late night snack. Ordered the Okonomi and a Beef and Cheddar, and made one a combo by adding a drunk and Shichimi and garlic fries. Fries came out hot and crispy and with enough seasoning. Although both hotdogs were good, I liked the kurobuta pork on the Oknomi more as it had more flavor and a snap to the meat. The Beef and Cheddar was definitely beefy, and loaded with lots of bacon and cheese. The hotdogs were as good as we remembered.
