"There’s something about film cameras that digital cameras just don’t have. I guess it’s the film. And the guys at Hillvale know their stuff when it comes to film. It’s getting harder to find places to process negatives, but Andrew and Jason and the rest of the guys at Hillvale have made it slightly easier with their network of drop boxes to deposit your film in. And if you want any info on film, cameras, or photography, drop into their funky back street lab and have a chat, they’re a friendly bunch." - Smith & Thomas

Great convenient place to purchase, develop and scan your 35mm film rolls!! Great advice if there's any user errors in the capturing process, and how avoid them on the next drop! Multiple convenient drop points in and around Melbourne, further simplifying the process. Also very competitive prices.

I recently found an old APS film from 2003 that had never been developed. After struggling to find a lab in my city that could process it, I came across Hillvale Photo and their fantastic postage service. The whole process was super easy and well set up, making it hassle-free to send my film off. The team at Hillvale did an amazing job, providing a clear summary of what to expect with an expired film, however, Hillvale still delivered a beautifully produced set of photos. The experience was seamless from start to finish, and I couldn’t be happier with the service. Highly recommend Hillvale Photo to anyone needing film developed—especially for those harder-to-process formats!

Amazing! Love the convenience of the card terminal, love that its 24/7. When the card terminal stopped working, we emailed them and they were on the way to fix it the same day. We ended up going to their Carlton location and that was great as well

Such a convenient option for purchasing film and getting it developed. I use a lot of film and drop it in the Dropbox at Brunswick and am happy to hear they’ve expanded with more drop boxes. I also purchase different varieties of 35mm film through the vending machines and they’re fairly priced for both with a quick turnaround. We also love taking our photos in the vintage booth when we drop film off.

I have been using Hillvale for the last decade, initially using drop boxes from across town to now being more local and their service, quality of scans, and knowledge hasn't faltered as theyve grown and moved. I can't recommend them more highly. They contribute so much to the film scene in Melbourne and aren't greedy or stuck up. Love the vibes, exhibitions, community focus and product!

After purchasing a disposable camera for my birthday in December 2024, I quickly fell in love with the charm and nostalgia of film photography, especially compared to the digital photos we take on our phones every day. I received a 35mm camera for Christmas and initially planned to take it to the same lab where I developed my disposable film. However, they informed me of a four-week wait and their rush service wasn’t available. That's when I discovered Hillvale Photo. Their processing times were much faster, and they even offered rush service. As promised, my photos were ready by 5pm on Monday after I dropped them off on Saturday. The quality was fantastic, and the whole process was smooth and hassle-free.

Amazing service and quality from Hillvale Photo in being able to scan a 9mm Minox negative film for me recently. I'd used them previously for 35mm colour negative film too and was equally impressed with the quality and great service.
