HILDA Budapest

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Hilda. The staff were friendly, helpful and clear. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, from the bar, the mosaic to the overall colour scheme. The atmosphere is equally pleasant, with soft music you can still have a conversation at the same time. The food was delicious. Plenty of truffle on bread and the rabbit was roasted and put inside a crispy pancake with a mustard/ vegetable sauce. My partner really enjoyed his goulash. Overall, very enjoyable, we loved it.

I visited this place in Budapest, and the menu had three sections: starters, mains, and desserts. The selection was small for each section, but I actually liked that. I chose traditional Hungarian dishes, and I enjoyed everything. All the food was delicious. The waiters were very friendly, and everyone spoke English. I would definitely come back again.

I enjoyed my meal at Hilda. I started with an amazing cocktail with vanilla infused vodka and chili. It smelled and tasted great. For a starter, I had the beef tartar. It tasted fresh and was well seasoned. The main dish was goulash with bread. The goulash was filled with tender and juicy beef, carrots, and potatoes. It was the best goulash experience I had in Budapest. The staff was very friendly, and took very good care of me. I would recommend it if you are looking for local Hungarian food.

The first thing we noticed was the very decorative, imaginative and warm inviting decor as we stepped inside.  My husband ordered the goulash which was very good (but spicy). I ordered their signature chicken which was perfectly roasted and coated with a paprikash sauce. The half-chicken (huge!) came on a bed of sour cream and fresh dill with roasted pumpkin slices, roasted cherry tomatos and pumpkin seeds. What an exquisite flavor combination. Service was prompt and personable -  we will come back!

After a morning of shopping at the Central Market, we went to late lunch at this special restaurant known for its authentic Hungarian cuisine. Hilda Budapest did not disappoint! I’d never had authentic Hungarian Goulash before, and it was terrific. (PS It’s beef stew with lots of paprika, potatoes, carrots, onions, etc. served with a rasher of sourdough bread slices.) My companion had the roasted chicken which was moist and delicious. Try the local beer. The décor was Art Nuevo and very comfortable. Staff if friendly and speak excellent English. We paid in Euros.

Wonderful food in Hilda! I needed a quick nice dinner on Sunday and most of my "go-to" spots were closed. Hilda was a huge surprise - beautiful interior, kind service, and really delicious food. Got myself a beef tartare - fresh, well seasoned, all in all good dish. And the lamb in roasted pepper with sauce - that for me was TOP. Beautiful combination of flavors and texture, it really is a fantastic plate!

We were only looking for a place for drinks and we stumbled on this very cozy very nice little place. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We only had some paprika popcorn to eat (that’s why I can’t give more stars for food, but what I saw on the tables around us looked very good), but it was surprisingly good. For drinks we had a homemade hibiscus ice tea , served with fresh hibiscus flowers. A really great refreshing drink. If you are in Budapest, check this place out. Different from the more touristic options in the neighborhood in a really good way!

Only a few options in the menu. Good goulash but the price was more then double like in other restaurants although it was a normal portion, the waiting time was ok and the person who served us was nice. The ugliest thing at this place was that they charge 15% of the whole check just for service and we saw that only at the end . In our case 10 euros for 2 drinks and 2 goulash. I let you some pictures to convince yourself. So if you want to go there I would recommend to think twice.
